Chapter 003 Soon to be....

Eumerriah’s Point of View

"Jerome! Can we talk?" He looked at me with no emotion, stood up, and left. I followed him, glancing around to see if anyone noticed us. He turned to me and approached. "Are you really going to embarrass yourself?" he whispered.

I looked around and saw that we were in the hotel lobby. Our movie had finished, and today was our last day of filming. I sighed and turned back to my room. It had been three weeks since I started trying to talk to him. Even though we were together every day, he only spoke to me when necessary. I understood because I knew I was wrong, but I just wanted him to listen to me. If he could understand, then great, we could fix our relationship. If not, I would understand; I just wanted to explain, but he wouldn’t give me a single second.

"Daddy called!" Manager Kim greeted me. "They act quickly," I replied and walked into our room.

"Congrats, best friend. Another movie hit this month," Shaira greeted me. "Thank you. Where have you been?" I asked, noticing she was wearing a sexy star costume and a red wig.

"There was a costume party last night. I overslept, so I came straight here," she said cheerfully.

"You should have just gone home and rested. We’re heading home soon," Manager Kim interjected.

"Huh? Why are we leaving so soon? Isn’t there a party tonight? Aren’t you attending?" Shaira asked. "How did you know there’s a party tonight?" Manager Kim was packing our things but was focused on our conversation.

"Isn't it always like that? There’s always a party on the last day of filming," she said hopefully. "You always look forward to the parties, but you don’t get any gigs or even a stable role. I’ve told you, let me manage you, and you’ll never run out of things to do." Manager Kim had long been offering to manage Shaira, but she always refused. She didn’t like pressure and preferred to take on extra roles because she wanted to live a relaxed life. She was a happy-go-lucky person.

"We’re leaving ahead of you. Her father will kill me if I don’t get her back on time." We left the hotel immediately, and the driver was already waiting in front of the lobby.

We spent several hours on the road and finally arrived at the mansion. Manager Kim was afraid of my parents, so she didn’t come in.

"Hi, darling. Congratulations on your last movie," Mommy greeted me as I entered the main entrance.

"Get changed; we have guests coming," Dad said emotionlessly. I kissed Mommy and gave my blessing to Daddy before going to my room to get ready.

"You need to marry the man we’ve chosen for you, Eumerriah!" Dad shouted at me.

"But Dad! I haven’t even met the person you’re talking about! And I have a boyfriend," I protested.

"You’re getting more defiant now. Just because we allowed you to become an actress doesn’t mean you won’t follow our rules."

"It’s not that, Daddy, but—"

"Don’t argue! Fix your outfit; they’re coming for the engagement!"

I had no choice but to follow my father’s orders. As night fell, black cars arrived at our mansion, and men in coats, looking like villains from a Korean drama, got out.

The last to emerge was a man I knew very well, from his stance and appearance. J-Jerome?!

He was also surprised to see me, then smiled sweetly.

"How are you, son?" My father greeted him. "Come here, daughter, and greet your future husband," Dad called to me.

I hurried over. But I went pale when I saw another man walking up the steps behind Jerome.

I could never forget the man who ruined my relationship with Jerome.

"Is that my future son-in-law?" An older man, looking at me, smiled. "A beautiful girl..."

I couldn’t move; my feet felt glued to the floor.

"Daughter, don’t be shy. Come here and greet your future in-laws," Dad called again.

I saw Jerome approach me, "Are you okay, Yumi?" he asked with concern.

"You??"

"Yes, dear, he’s your future husband. You’re the reason he entered showbiz. We agreed because we wanted you two to get to know each other before formally introducing you," an older woman, presumably his mother, said. "This is Gabrielle, Jerome’s brother. They are our children."

I forced a smile at them. "Yes, that’s why we let you go because we knew he was there." I was surprised by their words but then realized nothing was impossible with this family.

"Are you happy to see him again?" Jerome whispered, referring to Gabrielle. Gabrielle was the reason I was still begging Jerome.

I ignored him, feeling a lump in my throat. "Your sons are so handsome. Come on, let’s eat. We can discuss important matters over dinner." Everyone headed to the dining area.

I was so nervous I couldn’t move my legs. "Long time no see, how are you?" I snapped back to reality and quickly walked away. I didn’t want to talk to him or form any connection with him. I only wanted to speak with Jerome. If I got closer to this man, it might jeopardize my marriage.

Jerome and I are going to be married soon...
