Moonlight Adventure

I succeeded in finishing up my chores before the nobles arrived. But at the time the park meeting was about to begin, Edaleen and Franshia still hadn't arrived and when I overheard Lunar lying to Alpha Lucius that she'd sent the two girls on an errand, I knew something crazy was about to happen.

I had no business with Edaleen and Franshia since they actually disliked me the most and so I didn't worry about them. After I returned to the attic,I took my bath,had my breakfast and settled to read the novel I succeeded in sneaking out of the library that morning.

I got engrossed in the book and read it for two hours before falling asleep. But I woke up to loud cries and yelling from the living room. I rubbed my eyes open, immediately sprang off the bed and made out of the attic into my hiding place where I got a good view of the living room. Exactly as I suspected Edaleen and Franshia had arrived but they weren't lucky to have settled in the instant they came into the house, the Alpha caught them instantly.

The Alpha stood in the middle of the room, fuming with anger, I'd never seen him all red and livid before, I'd never seen him angry at the girls before

"How dare you two disobey my orders" he growled deeply and the two girls fell to their knees "do you know who you are, do you know what could have happened to you, do you know what would happened to us if The Prime Alpha learnt that his betrothed is an heavy drinker and a reckless party goer. Do you know what would happen to Wolfdusk Pack if the marriage between us and the head pack doesn't work out, why are you trying to destroy my plans? WHY!" The Alpha screeched, making the girls jolt and cower behind their mother who was all shaky and teary as well.

I watched the scene from my hiding spot and wondered what was going on, the Alpha never gets mad at his children and who was The Prime Alpha? Eventhough I was a little surprised that one of the girls would be married I couldn't help but wonder why the whole marriage arrangement was so precious to the Alpha and Lunar.

"Your marriage to the Alpha is going to change our lives"The Alpha said again "You both know the pack has ran short of money and is in debt, very soon the pack will crumble and we can't let that happen. You cannot jeopardize this opportunity for us. The Prime Alpha is yet to choose between the two of you, but we can see he likes Franshia the more so how would things turn out if he discovers that Franshia is an irresponsible, ill-mannered young lady who has no shame whatsoever"

"We're sorry father" Franshia whimpered and burst into tears and as she did so an image of the night she poured tar into my hair when I was fast asleep flashed across my mind,I eventually had to shave my head clean, out of all the bad things Franshia had done to me, that was the worse and she actually made me understand that she'd been jealous of me from the start

"Sorry doesn't fix anything Franshia" The Alpha said gesturing for the Lunar to move aside so he could talk to the girls face to face "I cannot let you and your sister destroy everything I've worked so hard for,I already have one unsolvable problem before me and I can't let your foolishness destroy me"

Edaleen spoke up now, she was the older of the sisters and Tedros' twin, Franshia is just about the same age as I am

"We would be more careful now father" she said again",we won't disobey your orders anymore"

"I trust you wouldn't" The Alpha replied sheepishly "but to assure myself, I'll have to be more strict"

"What do you mean Lucius The Lunar said,fear evident in her voice but the Alpha only signalled the guards and in the next instant the burly guards grabbed the girls and started pulling them along. I watched until they were out of sight then returned to my room.

As I laid on my mattress I thought about the girls and the luxury life they lived,they always had anything they wanted so it's a wonder that the Alpha is suddenly mad at them, and by unsolvable problem I knew the Alpha was referring to me. His hatred for me increases everyday making me worry for my life, what if he suddenly decided to kill me. He might have to kill me eventually because there was no way I could live in the attic forever,my eyes began to sting with tears and I blinked and it rolled down my face.

If only my father hadn't died before my mother conceived me, if only my mother had decided to take care of me herself,if only I'd never been born at all, I wished I wasn't so unlucky.

I remained in the attic, tending to my plants and writing my in diary until it was late in the night and I decided to sleep. But the moment I laid on the bed, sharp knocking sounds came on my door and I hurriedly sprang up. Who was knocking my door at this time and what does the person want, my subconscious told me it was Tedros and I considered going back to sleep but then it could be the Lunar but what would she need me for at this time of the night?

The knocking came again "it's me Edaleen" the voice said "please open the door Venus, I'm really in need of your help"

Edaleen has never come up to the attic before and as I wondered what could be going on with her, she knocked again "please Apple, open the door" she said again and I did, ushering her inside.

"What's going on with you Edaleen" I asked impassively, struggling to hide the anger I was feeling for her "what are you doing in my room by this time and what do you want"

"I need your help Venus" she said shakily"I need your help desperately"

"What do you want me to do for you"

"I need you to go to the club downtown and collect something from my friend for me"

"What!" I exclaimed in grave shock "you're asking me to go out"

"Yes Venus please"

Words cannot describe how I felt at that moment, I thought she was going to ask me to make her hot coffee or any other midnight snack but I was surprised to hear what she was said, what if the lunar and the Alpha found out, why was she suddenly asking me to go out when I've never been out of the castle before,I was suddenly feeling scared

"I can't help you Edaleen I don't know anywhere in this neighborhood I've never set foot outside the pack house so there's no way I can get to where you're asking me to. Besides,I'm scared"

Edaleen opened her mouth to talk but she suddenly began to shudder and her teeth started chattering,sweat was dripping down her face eventhough the windows in the attic were closed. She wrapped her arms around her body for warmth as her teeth chattered louder but she grabbed my arm and pulled me back when I rose up from the bed to go out and call someone

"You can't call anybody Venus" she said struggling to breathe "please you have to help me, you have to go out and get that stuff for me" she lifted her nightgown and showed me the censor device that the Alpha had strapped to her leg

"If I move an inch out of the compound, my father would know and it's impossible to try and remove the device, please, you have to help me"

"What's that stuff you're asking me to get for you"

"It's Opium" she answered slowly and electric shivers shot through my body. I almost couldn't believe my ears, this was terrible, who knew the all mighty Alpha Lucius daughters have gotten this wild,I shook with pity as I gazed at Edaleen's face "are you addicted to Opium?" I asked

"I think I am" she sobbed lightly "please you have to go, you have to help me"

"I'm sorry but I can't go"

She fell to her knees and began to cry, "please help me, please don't let me die,I beg you"

"But I don't know how to get there"

"I'll direct you, please"

I took a deep breath and looked out the window, some part of me was excited about going out to behold the moonlight in it's beauty. I would be going outside the castle for the first time in my life,my crazy subconscious even whispered *escape* to my ears and I gasped silently. I was very scared, scared and nervous, what if the Alpha and Lunar figured out, what if something crazy happened on the way.
