The Moon Goddess Herself

"Are you still going to help me" Edaleen's voice cut into my thoughts and I nodded slowly

"Thank you very much Venus. I'll try and make my parents treat you better as from now on, I'll tell them to let you go to learn a trade or find you a suitable husband, thank you"

I nodded slowly again and she handed a black hoodie to me

"Wear this and lower your head as you walk, when you get to the club,go straight to the counter and ask for Damon, he'll hand you the package, come home straight afterwards, don't stop at anywhere or talk to anybody. Remember, what would happen if my father discovers that you left the house, please don't blow our cover"

"Sure thing Edaleen, I'll be careful" she rose to her feet and gestured for me to do the same, the uneasy look on her face was still there but she's managed to suppress it. She handed me a piece of paper after she positioned the hoodie around my neck

"This is the address,I know you're intelligent enough to understand, you should be back in thirty minutes time"

"Am I going to walk to the place" I asked

"Yes you will walk to the place, it's not far from here at all, let's go" she took me by the hand and let me out of the dark passageway the led to the main part of the attic,then out of the castle.

My heart was thumping with every step we took and when the cold night air washed over me,I shivered and my heart was going to jump out of my chest,if the Alpha caught us he would kill me and that would be the end of my life. But did he even know what his precoius daughter was up to I continued to walk behind Edaleen like a mute puppet until we got to the giant gate. She dipped her hand into her dress and fished out a key and I began to wonder where all the firece security guards were

"I spiked some bottles of yogurt and beer and gave it to them to drink" she answered as if she read my thoughts "they're all asleep now and they'll be asleep until tomorrow morning"

I gazed at the bodies of the guards of the Wolfdusk Pack as they sprawled lifelessly on the ground, if only the Alpha would see them now,if only the Alpha would see the people with whom he had entrusted the duty of keeping him safe, if only he would see the two of us now

"Have a safe trip Venus" Edaleen said as she opened the door but I just kept staring at opened entrance, the first time I walked in through this entrance was when I was three months, I felt like I was taking a great step and nervousness wouldn't let me be,

"Why do you keep staring at the door" Edaleen asked "ohh never mind that" she said rolling my eyes as if guessing my thoughts then she pushed me out "make no mistakes Apple and don't talk to anyone on the way and if anyone sees you, give them a fake name and tell them you're not from any noble family, do you understand"

"Yes"

"Cover your face behind the veil properly and don't meet Damon's gaze when you're talking to him, do you get it"

"Yes"

"I'll be waiting here for you, when you arrived knock on the door and I'll open it for you"

"Okay Edaleen"

The moment she slammed the door shut I felt like I was the only one in the world

I'd never thought a day like this would come, the Alpha had imprisoned me in the attic and I never thought I would ever get to go out, tonight would be wonderful and maybe I could spike the whole family's food and escape to anywhere while they slept off but that would be possible if I had a place to go or what if I stole some money and leave for another Kingdom but I still don't have a chance and I didn't know anyone.

The sky was beautiful and I love the pleasant feeling the darkness gave, I looked at different houses all around and laughed joyfully when I saw the reflection of my body in a shallow puddle. Words cannot express how I felt that night,I felt so free, so happy,who knew the outdoors is as beautiful as this,I could live here for the rest of my life.

After examining everything I laid my eyes on I decided to go on the errand Edaleen sent me. I brought out the piece of paper where she scribbled the address and read it under the street light. The bar was not very far away, and I just had to walk straight down.

Not very long after that, I arrived at the place and the first thing that welcomed me was the thick stench of alcohol and weed. I cringed and covered by nose and wrapped my veil tighter around my neck and went into the building.

They were many people inside and they were all drinking and partying,I blocked my ears as I felt the loud music echo in my head and moved away from the entrance and walked further inside. I kept my gaze on the floor, ignoring the peering gazes that were on me as I began the walk towards the counter, the gaze were making me uncomfortable, the sooner I collect Edaleen's stuff, the sooner I'd get out of here.

I kept on walking between the tables when all of a sudden, someone grabbed my hand from behind. I jolted at the shock as I turned to behold a fine young man, he was dressed in nice clothes and he had many people surrounding him on the table.

I yanked my hand out of his grip and turned to go but he caught my hand again and pulled me closer to him. I gasped in shock as his grip tightened around my wrist

"Who are you" he asked and "and why are you veiling your face" the question disgusted me instantly,I mean who was he to ask that kind of question, who did he think he was

"I'm... I meant..." The fact that I was stuttering scared me as it could give up my cover ,so I swallowed hard and ignored the fear in my heart " name is Dahlia.. I'm here on an errand"

"Why are you covering your face"

"I can't tell you that sir" I answered and he bursts into a peal of mocking laughter, people were starting to look at us and I hadn't gotten what Edaleen asked me to get

"You have no idea who you're talking to right?"

I nodded and he laughed again "you hear that guys" he said to his fellow drinkers on the table " the lady doesn't know who I am, the lady doesn't know who I fucking am" the fellow drinkers burst into laughter and I felt very uneasy

"Please let me go sir" I quivered, trembling as cold sweat trickled down my face

"What if I don't let you go" he answered arrogantly "what if I decide to make you miserable. I'm the son of the Alpha King, I'm the heir of the most powerful pack in all the land, I'm the heir to a vast amount of wealth, power and money, you're just a commoner and so you should learn respect"

"I'm sorry for everything I might have done sir, please let me go, my errand is pretty urgent, please "

"She sounds as sweet as honey Orion" one of the drinkers said "yeah" another agreed "look at that smooth and shiny complexion"

"Her skin is so soft as well" the man who was holding me said, running his hands slowly through my skin I felt disgusted "I wonder what her face would look like" he paused for a moment and continued trailing my hand "take off your veil,I want to see your face"

That statement poured cold water on my body and I shivered, my heart was beating so loudly I could hear it

"I'm sorry sir but I cannot do that" tears began to trickle down my face and he burst into laughter "just imagine this slut refusing me, you really do lack respect doncha?"

"I don't think you should touch her Orion" a lady's voice said besides me "she's a common wolf and it's abominable for a royal like you to even talk to her, she's no different from your servants so why don't you just let her go" I looked at the lady and saw distaste in her eyes as she scanned me all over but the distaste in her eyes didn't bother me it rather made me feel happy for it might be all that I needed at that moment to get away "do you know how angry your father would be if he saw you doing something this disgraceful, get your hands off her now Orion and let her go"

Orion looked at the red haired lady, then at me, then at the lady again then he groaned loudly and threw my hand away. I hurriedly scurried away and headed straight from the counter

"Please I'm looking for Damon " I said to the guy at the counter when I got there "Edaleen asked me to collect something from him" the guy didn't say a word,he just dipped his hands into his pocket and dropped a black packet on the table

"Be careful not to spill the contents" he said and he turned back to what he was doing. I picked up the package slowly and carefully examined it, this was the reason Edaleen would have a great sleep tonight, this was the reason I got a chance to explore the world outside the attic. I tucked the packet into my pocket and said "thank you" to the guy but he didn't respond so I just left

The lousy man and his cohorts were no longer on the table and I hurriedly sauntered out of the bar before they came out of nowhere to taunt me again. The cold night breeze washed over me and I put my hand inside the hoodie for warmth,I adjusted my veil as well and was about to begin the journey home when the lousy man and his cohorts suddenly appeared in front of me, blocking my path.

My heart almost jumped out of my chest and my legs began to wobble instantly, what does this man want,and why does it have to be tonight of all nights. I clutched Edaleen's packet tighter and cleared my throat

"I don't think I have time to chit chat with you sir" I said forcing myself to sound confident "I have to return home now and if you don't mind I'll like you to step away from my path,I have to go before things go out of hands"

"I hate it when people fail to respect whom they should respect" he said arrogantly

"But I'm not disrespecting you sir,I just don't have time to spend with you"

"Let me see your face and you'll be free to go"

"I can't do that sir, I'm sorry but I can't"

"And why" he started walking closer to me "why are you being stubborn"

"I'm a married woman" I stuttered loudly "and my husband wills for my face to be covered, besides I have a skin disease which has left my face ugly, you wouldn't want to see my lord"

"Prince" he corrected cockily

"You wouldn't want to see,...my prince"

He stopped a few feet away from me and began to scan me from head to toe, cold sweat trickled down my neck and I felt like I would fall any moment. If I had known this would happen I would have implored Edaleen to find someone else to run her errand for her. Alpha Lucius wouldn't spare me if he learns that I left the attic he'd consigned me to for twenty-one years of my life, not since he'd been looking for a way to get rid of me recently.

"Please let me go sir" I begged, stifling the sob that was threatening to escape my throat"please I beg of you"

"It's alright then" he said slowly "you can go"

He stepped out of my way and gestured for his cohorts to do the same,I gazed at all of them and then him,he nodded slowly "you're free to go,I meant what I said"

But as I turned to go, he grabbed my veil from behind and spun me around to face him. The shock I felt at that was so great as the cold air came in contact with my bare face

His cohorts stopped laughing and drew in sharp gasps as they saw my face

"This is the most beautiful face I've ever seen" one of them said

"Is that silver hair"

"I can't believe what I'm seeing" said another

"She's as beautiful as the moon goddess Orion, she looks like a daydream"

"I never thought this what I would see" Orion said slowly with a dreamy look in his eyes "I never thought I would see the moon goddess herself tonight" he looked enchanted and stunned. He raised his hands to touch my face but I slapped his hands away, snatched my cloak out of his hands and ran as fast as my legs could carry me. I ran with all my strength, not looking in the direction I was running to.

Soon after,I heard hoofs, growls and howls behind me but when I tried to increased my pace, I stumbled on a log of wood and fell flat on my face. Pain shot through my body but I ignored it and sprang up to my feet If they caught me it would be a disaster and so I ran so hard my legs no longer felt like my part of my body.

I heaved a sigh of relief when I saw the path that led to the pack house and the noise behind me had stopped as well. I stopped a few steps from the gate to regain composure and to catch my breath.

When I'd done that,I knocked the door and Edaleen opened it, the awkward look on her face and the shivering had increased

"What took you so long" she asked, ushering me inside and locking the door

"I had a hard time figuring out the direction, it's a miracle I didn't get lost"

"Oh, but you're back now and that's all that matters"

"Yes I was back" and it was all that mattered to her indeed.
