CHAPTER SIXTY-TWO

LANDON:

My heart raced with concern as I hurried to Cross's side. His condition was worrisome. His eyes fluttered, glowing as they struggled to remain open. I began tapping his cheek in a desperate attempt to rouse him but to no avail. He remained in a semi-conscious state, his eyes still glowing. Fortunately, the angle at which he was situated kept this alarming sight hidden from the rest of the crew.

Just like I had done with Venita, Cross needed a trigger to awaken. However, this time I had no intention of being gentle. I needed him to snap out of it quickly.

"Leave," I ordered the others, my voice taking on a commanding tone. "Close the curtain too," I added, ensuring that we had some privacy for what was about to happen.

Calmly, I grabbed a rag from the counter, knowing that I had to gag him to prevent a howl or a loud grunt that would surely follow. It was a necessary measure, even though it pained me to do so.
