LOVER

“Hmm” Serafine moaned slightly as she woke up the next morning. Still laying in bed, she opened her eyes with a smile and it widened when she saw who was sleeping soundly besides her. Her eyes went wide as saucers as she stared at Alcide sleeping beside her. She consciously looked down and her eyes widened even more when she saw that the cloth she was wearing was totally different from the one she wore yesterday

‘Did something happen between us?, why are we sleeping together, what is he doing here’ upon realizing something, Serafine looked around and saw that she was actually in his room and not the other way round.

‘I better get out of here before he awakes’ Serafine said to herself as she tried to get out of the bed without waking Alcide up. She succeeded in standing up without waking him but just before she teepees out of the door, she heard a voice speak beside her and for a reason unknown to her, the hair at the back of her neck stood up. She felt nervous and felt somehow strange too from the sound of his morning voice

“ I said, where are you going?” Alcide asked for the second time after not hearing any sound from Serafine

“Or should I rephrase my question?, where are you running to?” Alcide isaid as he stood up and walked up to where Serafine stood just beside the door, keeping some distance between them.

“Oh, I was just about to go back to my room, and I did not wanted to disturb your sleep” Serafine replied looking down. Just as she was about to open the door and ‘run’ away just as he said, she heard Alcide’s voice once again

“Turn around and face me”.

The cold voice of Alcide always gave Serafine shivers. And it was surprisingly not in a bad way.

Slowly, Serafine turned her back and faced him. She had to crane her neck to reach his eyes as Alcide was a very tall man. To add to it, he was not like any other alpha, he had the muscles to carry the body and he looked bigger than any other alpha she knew. If he was this big, she wondered how big his wolf would be

“What stunt were you trying to pull yesterday?” Alcide asked glaring down at Serafine

“Stunt? I was not trying to pull any stunt alpha. I was just trying to look around the city” Serafine said while meeting his eyes. She gave him a challenging look. A look that questions what he would do if she really was trying to escape.

“And who was the man with you” Alpha Alcide said still meeting her eyes challengingly

‘If he finds out that someone was truly with me, he might just hurt him. Right now, I don’t know where he kept Lucian so I think its best I play the confused card’ Serafine thought to herself with a confused look on her face

“No one was with me” Serafine replied

Alpha Alcide held her arm in a tight grip pulling her closer to him.

“Stop playing with me. Or do you think I am playing here? Tell me who the person was or I’d find him myself” Alpha Alcide added while glaring at her

Serafine’s eyes widened after hearing his words. She thought to herself

‘So, he really did not know where Lucian is. Is he trying to pull the words out of my mouth or he is saying the truth?’

Wincing from the pain on her arm, Serafine tried to yank her arm out of Alcide’s grip but his grip was too strong. Seeing that there was no way to free herself, she used her other hand to punch his chest.

She did that a couple of times and when Alcide had enough, he held her other arm

“Release me” Serafine said with a look of hate evident in her eyes

“I would after you have answered my question” Alcide replied not showing any signs of releasing her anytime soon.

Out of frustration, Serafine yelled at him

“Yes, I was trying to escape ok. I was not touring any city” Serafine said after which she stood on her toes, moved closer to whisper something in his ears

“And do you know what the best part is? I was trying to escape with my lover”

Suddenly, Alpha Alcide pushed Serafine to the bed.

Serafine tried to stand up but he held her by her legs

Alpha Alcide climbed on top of Serafine, held her two hands above her head and whispered in her ears

“Lover? Watch as I rip his bones into pieces and force you to watch it all. Don’t play with my patience. You don’t want to find out how cruel I can be, even to women”. After saying this, Alcide traced his eyes from her eyes, nose, heart shaped pink lips then to her neck and his eyes dropped to her cleavage.

Serafine felt so nervous with his gaze on her and just when she was about to pull out of his hold, Alcide stood up and left the room, banging the door.

“I must do everything in my power to find Lucian first before Alcide gets to him. If not, we’d both end up dead in his arms” Serafine said after which she stood up from the bed and also left the room. Just as she was about to climb the stairs to go back to her room, she heard some voices and she halted, hiding herself somewhere to eavesdrop on the conversation.

“Find the man at all cost. I have feeling that there is more to this. I must find out who the man was and what he was doing around my pack. Also, he is not just a mere wolf since he was able to escape with Serafine without alerting any of the pack guards” Alcide said pacing uo and down, considering some things as he spoke to his assistant

“Yes Alpha, I’d do just that” his assistant added

“And oh, don’t think I’ve forgotten. I give you until this weekend to bring him to me or else, your family would be ruined. Don’t think I do not know where you are hiding them” Alpha Alcide spoke with a dangerous aura.

Hearing all that, Serafine gasped as she ran to her room out of fear
