BLAIR’S POVWith a public declaration of war, I could not comfortably live in the house. It felt like I was walking on egg shells and constantly had to watch my back, since it was impossible to tell what Jane had up her sleeves.I spent most of my time around my father and while I kept waiting for him to at least, question Jane on why she had to lie about my identity, he said nothing. My heart sank into worry, with every passing day and I had nothing to do, but continue living in the peace they were all trying to pose. Father never questioned her lying about my identity and Ashley went about, being the perfect daughter to Jane and my father. Every time I would complain to my father about not questioning Jane’s running of the company, or any of her decisions at all, he would say, “Jane has equally been through so much,Making tons of sacrifices for the family and company. She deserves a break, but because of me, she doesn’t get any.I know it’s hard for you, Princess,But try to g
BLAIR’S POV “I’m sure you were never at the company, Miss. Williams,” Jennifer said, right after I narrated my both encounters at the company to my father. “What?” I blurted, my jaw dropped.‘Was this a joke?’ My mind was running wild. “I was at the company a few weeks ago, and you personally told me that the company was in a bad place,” I said, my tone was gradually rising and I was losing all my mind. “Uhm, Miss. Williams,” Jennifer called softly. “I haven’t seen you in the office since forever,” she said, “But I am sure that even if you were here, I couldn’t have given you the report of a struggling company,” “Mrs. Jane Williams manages the company well, and we have not had a reason to struggle.”“She works tirelessly to see that the company runs smoothly and even without paying herself, she reinvests to boost the company’s capital.” Jennifer said, avoiding eye contact with me. When I observed critically, I noticed her gaze was more distant than it was. She was scared and
BLAIR’S POVIt was almost immediately I dropped Sebastine’s call that Jennifer walked out of the office and was coming towards me in the garden. The garden in the company’s premises was a small one, planted and nursed by my mother, as I learned. I took my eyes away from her the moment I saw her, expressing how much disgust I was filled with. “Your father is worried about you and asks that I get you,” she said. I rolled my eyes and paid almost no attention at all to her. “Miss. Williams,” she called, trying to look into my face. “Blair?” she called again. “Stay away from me, you coward and traitor,” I yelled in her face, pushing her away from me. Luckily, she didn’t fall to the ground and I was delighted about that. I still found my heart very concerned about her. Jennifer took a deep breath and took a few steps closer to me. I could not believe her nerves. “Blair, listen to me,” she said softly. “Not only is my life at stake, my boyfriend’s life is equally on the line.”T
BLAIR’S POV Jane and I followed the police officers to the hospital, where we identified Jane’s body. Tears were flowing down my cheeks, in never ending streams. “So, her vehicle last control and she drove right into a tree, setting her car bonnet on fire,” the police officer explained, showing us footage from the cameras on the road. “The police on duty in that street were able to get to her on time and put out the fire, but she was badly injured and by the time we arrived her, she had given up on fighting.” His every word only took another chunk of my soul. “Excuse me,” I said, requesting the tablet from the police man. After watching the footage, a couple of times, I noticed a tiny shot into the tire at the driver’s seat, just before she lost control. I played the video again in slow motion and confirmed my suspicion. “This doesn’t look like an accident,” I said, pinching the curiosity of the police officers and also Jane. “Officer, this is a clear case of assassination,”
BLAIR’S POV With no hospital appointments, or company to be at, considering the unfortunate event at the company, Jane and my father were fully at home and watching me like a hawk. My father had specifically instructed that I should not be allowed to leave the house by myself and I wasn’t allowed to leave at all, unless it was absolutely important. Father acknowledged how close Jennifer and I were, and he feared that with two major losses in a matter of weeks, I was going to do something to hurt myself.Leaving the house to meet up with an anonymous appointment was quite the task, but thankfully, something I was able to get around. I had woken up early to steal and hide some of the essential groceries I knew the house would be needing, after which I pretended to be in my room all day. When one of the staffs was sent to replace the groceries, I was snuck into the trunk of the car and when he arrived, I snuck out, only to find my way to the park. It was a very close one, but lucki
BLAIR’S POVBetween trying to figure clues out and pacifying Ronald, so as not to start a war he was incapacitated to finish, I had the most emotionally and physically draining day. So much that I walked into the house without any second thoughts and completely forgot that it took me sneaking out of the house, to finally make it to the park.Ronald was ready for war and was willing to make Jane pay, and he didn’t care if it was legal or not. All my effort to try to explain to him that Jane was a sleek criminal and would have him apprehended for a crime she committed, fell on Ronald’s deaf ears. Ronald was blinded and deafened by his pain, at this point, he couldn’t care any less about wrong moves and the gave consequences. This display of anger, made it impossible for me to share my knowledge of Jane to Ronald. At that volatile state, seeking revenge, he could blow up everything and at the moment, I couldn’t afford that. “Blair?” I heard a call that sounded pretty distant at fir
BLAIR’S POV I fought back, trying to loosen her grip on me. “Last I checked, I do not report to you as the police,” I said. Jane pulled out her I.D and flashed it across my face. “Start talking, young lady,” She said. “Why would I know anything about Jennifer’s boyfriend?” I asked, finally loosening her grip from my arm. “But you were joyfully going down to report,” She said, “Yes,” I yelled, “I am going to take my chances and tell the police that I know you had something to do with Jennifer’s death,” I said, in her face and staring into her eyes, without fear. “’Ha ha ha,” She laughed comically, “Very funny, Blair,”“Real classic,” She said. We were both staring into each other’s eyes. “Here I am, struggling to keep you for your dying father,” Jane said. Hearing her call my father dying, was a major trigger for me and Jane was well aware. “But then, here you are, with no atom of apology, pushing yourself to a quick grave,” Jane’s tone grew thicker and thicker. “I have
BLAIR’S POV“Ronald is my boyfriend,” I said. “He’s only here to support me, because I was too afraid to come here by myself.” Jane and Ronald were taken aback.I stared into the Ronald’s eyes, until he eventually had to buy into my lie. “This is ridiculous.” Jane blurted. “Why is that?” I queried. “Am I too young to have a boyfriend?” “Mother,” I called in a very sarcastic and emphatic tone. The look on the officer’s face immediately shut Jane up. “Mrs. Williams, you do know that it is terrible to try to implicate someone else, but I am willing to let this slide, because I understand the need to protect your daughter and also it will be unfair to overlook your long line of good work in the force,” the officer said. We walked out of the office and went over the car. I was trembling from my hair tip to my toes. Ronald was very frustrated and so was I. “I told you she was sleek,” I said. Ronald clenched his fist and kept banging the steering wheel. “I don’t clear how sleek
