Chapter Three
Sophie I glared at the screen, smiling to myself as I assessed the damage I had done. I had just hacked Alpha Reece bank account and transferred 10 million dollars to my duplicate account without leaving any trace behind. This wasn't the first time I was hacking his account. But this was the highest I had ever stolen from him—well, not stolen, because the money actually belongs to me. My late father was the Alpha of the Obsidian Pack, while my mother was his beloved Luna. They ruled together with dignity and prestige, until Darren, the pack beta, planned with his men to kill them. He had ordered them to rip out their hearts, so it will look like the shapeshifter demon did it, and no one was ever going to avenge their deaths. But what Darren didn't know was that I was aware he killed my parents, and I was going to stop at nothing until I had brought him down and avenged their deaths. You must be wondering where and how Reece came into the picture, I'll tell you. Reece, the name alone was enough to make me puke. He and my parents had been rivals since forever. I had never had any previous encounter with him, until the previous mating ball. But I detested him with all my might. My parents always spoke of how he was so proud and full of himself. Reece had threatened to kill my parents on numerous occasions, and after their deaths, he went to the Lycan king and claimed ownership of my parents secret company, which was supposed to be my inheritance. He had claimed my parents loaned money from him and used the company as collateral if they couldn't pay it back. But I knew that wasn't true; we never even had any financial issues, and even if we did, the company was generating more than enough money to sustain us for a lifetime. After Reece took possession of the company, I enhanced my hacking skills and made a personal promise to myself that Reece wasn't going to use any money from the company because all the money belonged to me; it was my inheritance. And so far I've been living up to that promise by regularly hacking his account, and I didn't plan on stopping any sooner, at least not until I have taken possession of my inheritance and brought him down. A loud knock resounded on my door as I instantly slammed my laptop shut and rushed quickly to my bed, pretending to be asleep. No one could know my true identity as a hacker; they didn't need to know. "Sophie, come on, get up!". Aurora's raspy voice echoed loudly in my ears. I slowly squinted my eyes open and rubbed weakly at my eyelids, pretending I just woke up. "Come on. Get up and get dressed." She yelled, rushing towards my wardrobe and pulling out a green flower-printed gown. Aurora was just like a younger sister to me. No, she was a younger sister to me. After my parents deaths, I had moved to the Blue Moon Pack, where I lived with my mother, sister Laura, and her three daughters. "What do you want, Aurora?" I breathed out She let out a frustrated scowl as she pulled out two eyeliners from her make-up back, starring at them like it was her first time seeing such. "Aurora?". I questioned, sitting uprightly. "Green is definitely your color." She smiled brightly as she leaned into me with the green eyeliner. I shifted backward. "Can you just tell me what is going on?". I whined, my voice much louder than I had intended. "Gosh, Sophie, I can't believe your so clueless. There's going to be another mating ball today in the Obsidian Pack, and who knows, you might even find your perfect match this time." She exclaimed, leaning into me once more with the eyeliner. I took a step backwards, as a frown formed on the corners of her lips. "Come on, Sophie, I have a good feeling about tonight's mating ball. Even my wolf, she's been restless; she feels you will meet your prince charming today, and she's so excited for you.". "Fine. But you will come with me." "Yes. Yes. Yes". She squealed, jumping and clapping her hands together.Chapter Four Sophie To say the drive to the ball wasn't far will be a massive understatement. It was about a two-hour drive that felt like eternity. Honestly, we could have been faster in our wolf form, but Aurora insisted that it would be inconveniencing to shift back, and I might even ruin her beautiful makeup on my face. As we approached the double iron gate that led to the ball ground, The guards by the gate hurriedly opened the gate after confirming our identities. "Lucas told me, this is one of Alpha Darren's many houses." Aurora murmured as she turned the steering and curved the tire towards the packing lot. It was just twenty minutes into the ball, and the packing lot was already filled up. "Gosh. There isn't any space left. I will be reversing the car to pack outside while you go in and enjoy yourself. I will mindlink you once I'm back." She rasped, flashing me a reassuring smile, which I quickly returned, before stepping out of the passenger seat and watching the car
Chapter Five Reece. Every female I passed by kept squealing and stealing glances at me. It was so disgusting, I felt I would puke. I didn't even want to be in this mating ball tonight. I was here only for one sole purpose: to meet Darren, see his daughter, and seal the deal between us. 'And find the pretty wolf from the last ball'. Kyla squealed. 'Of what use is finding her? I will be getting married soon'. 'I knew it. So you liked her and deep down wanted to see her'. Kyla howled as I instantly blocked our mindlink. I didn't like her. I detested all females. And hated the word love. 'Chill is a process. From like comes love'. Kyla chuckled as an irritated scowl slipped off my lips. I thought I blocked the mindlink? Tired of dealing with Kyla, I rose from my seat and strode directly to the garden, at the far end of the building. I just needed to clear my mind. Just as my feet entered the garden, an amazing mix of jasmine and lavender invaded my senses; it was a scen
Chapter SixSophieMy heart raced as I ran frantically towards the entrance of the garden. My knees went weak as my feet grew wobble, but I knew I couldn't stop running. I had to run. I had to keep running if I wanted to survive and avoid being prosecuted by this ruthless man.If only I had a normal wolf scenting ability, then I wouldn't have been in this mess in the first place. My wolf was an omega and had difficulty detecting people's scent. Her ability to detect scents was just the same as a human, and that was why I couldn't detect his scent until it was too late. I thought kissing him was going to serve as an apology for the last ball, and he would let me go without being prosecuted. But instead, he pushed me away harshly, showing how eager he was to prosecute me for going against the laws. After he pushed me and my back collided against the hard floor, I knew I had to act fast, and that was why I made sure my raven black hair covered my face so he wouldn't have a perfect view
Chapter SevenReeceAfter the mating ball, I was determined to find Sophie by all means possible; even if it involved violence, I really did not care; I just wanted to find her and ask her to undo whatever spell she cast on me because I have never paid this much attention to any female, but then again, Sophie was different. She was bold, no shameless even to have approached and seduced me.I should have been used to it; females constantly throw themselves at me, but not with this particular one. I loved her every touch, feel, smell, voice, and kiss; she just had some kind of invisible charm that kept magnetizing me to her.The Obsidian pack borders had been closed for exactly one week; I had even lied to Darren that the reason I wanted to stay in his pack for that one week was to get familiar with it since we were building a family relationship together. With the help of Ryker, I had secretly gone house by house checking because I didn't trust my guards enough. Patrol had been put in
Chapter One Sophie "Beta Ryker". I called out, but he was already too far away to hear me. Without sparing a second, I pushed through the crowd; the background music faded and was forgotten in the rush. Slipping through the door I saw him enter into, my heart raced, but I couldn't go back now. I needed to do this. Captivate this male and seduce him, or I would remain at a corner of the wall forever and never have my happily ever after. As werewolves, it has always been a tradition to be mated swiftly after you turned eighteen, or at least before you turned twenty-five. I'm currently twenty-nine; I will be turning thirty in a few days. Along the past years, I've earned myself a spot along the wall, watching everyone feel that instant connection with their beloved that's impossible to explain. My three younger sisters were no exceptions. But tonight, however, was different; rather than constantly waiting to be noticed, I was going to get myself noticed, and my target was the hands

As a matter of fact, I've been fantasying about her by day and dreaming about her by night, and the worst part of it all is that my wolf, Kyla, was also obsessed with her. What's so special about her, I've thought, but found nothing. She's only but another cheap she wolf who would go any height to get the attention of a male, especially one of high ranking, large wallet, and power. I've met a lot of wolves like her in the past, and I never even spared them a thought, so why was it so hard to get this particular wolf out of my head? Maybe because her face was hidden in the darkness and I didn't even get her name. Yes, that should be it. 'Just admit it, you fell in love at first sight.' Kyla squealed, and I instantly choked on my breath. Love? I call that bullshit. I'd probably g****e up the meaningless four-letter words if I didn't have such a huge ego. Love was a word I detested m
