CHAPTER THREE

CHAPTER THREE

Sophie Evergreen

"I hope you find your perfect match this time". Aurora mumbles, leaning into me with a makeup brush and foundation.

"Am just tired Aurora, if I don't get mated today, am done". Aurora muffled laugh fills the congested room and I quickly shoot her a questioning glare.

"That's what you always say, but you never really give up and well I seem more enthusiastic about today than the last mating ball, maybe because I know you will find your prince charming today". Aurora mumbles with a glint in her eyes. Stretching her right hand to her open make-up bag, she pulls out two eye liners and stare at them like is her first time of seeing such.

"Why can't I just decide on one". She mumbles to herself, whilst still starring at the eyeliners, unable to make a decision. After a fruitful second she shifts her gaze to me and stretches the green eyeliner towards me.

"Green is your colour Sophie". She says more like a statement.

"I don't want anything too serious, just something light "

"Oh Sophie, how do you capture a male attention if you don't get over the board"

"I did that last time and went against all my moral principles, now tell me, where did it get me, mated? ". I question with a frown fixated on my face and I hear the faint voice of my wolf in my head.

"That landed you a kiss from the alpha and now his in search of you".

"How sure am I that he won't get me prosecuted for what I did". I fire back through our mindlink and she lets out a tired sigh.

"Because he won't, can't you see this is finally your opportunity to get mated". Tired of dealing with Amanda I decide to ignore her statement and block her through our mindlink.

"I have been thinking about something" . Aurora mutters with a glint in her eyes, a glint you only see when she's up for no good.

"Go on, I am listening"

"Did you meet with Alpha Reece at the last ball". She questions and I crest my brows in confusion.

"Pardon"

"His organizing a mating ball in search of a wolf he met at the last ball, that only means one thing, he wants to make her his chosen Mate. My plan is simple what if you blaspheme that your the wolf".

"You know the consequences for blaspheme is death".

"Literally half the girls in our pack are blaspheming, is high time you put your destiny in your hands soph".

"Their conversations. He is definitely going to ask what we spoke about". If you can't remember what you both spoke about then you can kiss him again, he will surely not forget a kiss like that. I hear Amanda excited squeal and I let out a sigh, I thought I closed the mindlink.

"Sophie"

"Aurora"

"Am done with your makeup, give what I said a thought, blasphemy could just be your ticket to becoming a chosen, an Alpha chosen".

"Your going with me to the ball". I tell Aurora and she nods.

To say the drive to the ball wasn't far will be a massive understatement. It was about a two hours drive that felt like eternity. Honestly, we could have been faster in our wolf form, but Aurora insisted that it will be inconveniening to shift back and I might even ruin her hardwork on my face.

As we approached the double iron gate that led to the ball ground. The guards by the gate hurriedly opened the gate after confirming our identies.

"Lucas told me, this is one of Alpha Reece many houses". Aurora mutters as she turn the steering and curve the tyre towards the drive way.The driveway seemed to be filled with a lot of cars, almost as though is a car stand.

"There's no space to pack. I will go outside to check for a safe spot to pack the car, while you enjoy your self at the ball. I will mindlink you once am back". Aurora mumbles and flashes me a reassuring smile, which I quickly return, before stepping out of the passenger seat and watching the car speed away.

I stare at the large building before me. The building is stunning, perfectly maintained. The definition of a picturesque, opulent mansion. There isn't a leaf out of place on the shrubbery or a speck of dirt on the marble walkways.

It couldn't be more flawless, but there is something so lonesome about it that's almost palpable. It doesn't feel like they have been any happiness here for a long time. It's like an invisible fog hanging in the air, weighing everything down, blocking out the sun.

The ball is in full swing, when I stride in. Pointing sharp glances round the colourful room, I decide to settle for an empty sofa along the bar.

'Amanda' I call out to my wolf, opening back our mindlink, but she doesn't say anything.

'Are you upset' I ask, but get no reply.

'Sorry for shutting you out'. I mumble but still she remains quiet.

"Oucch" A frustrated growl escapes my lips. Amanda was always known for an attitude.

I let my eyes roam the entire ballroom. Unmated wolves dancing, sharing drinks, holding hands, laughing and then I sight a man at a corner surrounded by a flock of ladies, I can't really see his facial expression, but his body movement tells he doesn't want to be there.

Coming for this ball was a complete waste of time, no male has even approached me yet. Sighing, I rise from my seat and head for the door. I keep walking round the huge building without any purpose or thought in mind. My steady movements come to a halt once I spot a pathway. I guess leaving mating balls and entering lonesome corners is now a new niche for me. Sigh. I let my footsteps drag me along the pathway till I reach a dead end and am faced with the most beautiful sight I have ever seen.

A vast expense of land adorned with the finest flowers imaginable. It also has trees with birds singing and making their nests on the branches. Several strands flow at the corners. They were beautiful wooden chairs at the center of the garden designed specially for just two. I slowly walk to the center of the garden, letting the chilling breeze calm my mind and soul, as I occupied one of the chairs, starring at this fascinating sight of natural beauty before me.
