Chapter Two
Reece It's been three days, and I still haven't been able to get her out of my head. As a matter of fact, I've been fantasying about her by day and dreaming about her by night, and the worst part of it all is that my wolf, Kyla, was also obsessed with her. What's so special about her, I've thought, but found nothing. She's only but another cheap she wolf who would go any height to get the attention of a male, especially one of high ranking, large wallet, and power. I've met a lot of wolves like her in the past, and I never even spared them a thought, so why was it so hard to get this particular wolf out of my head? Maybe because her face was hidden in the darkness and I didn't even get her name. Yes, that should be it. 'Just admit it, you fell in love at first sight.' Kyla squealed, and I instantly choked on my breath. Love? I call that bullshit. I'd probably g****e up the meaningless four-letter words if I didn't have such a huge ego. Love was a word I detested more than any other thing in the world; it was like a hunting game in my ears. For all I knew, love was a ridiculous feeling that made people stupid and vulnerable. Take my mom as an example; my dad had died in a battle, and since then she's been only a shell of her previous self. At first it started as a minor illness, and soon it escalated to the point where she couldn't even move, talk, or eat. She's just numb. Probably the same as dead, but I refuse to believe that. As long as she's breathing, there's hope. Seeing my mother's broken state every day shattered me greatly, especially when I went all out of my way to gather money and treat her, only for the doctors to say her illness was incurable. Love ruined my mother, and seeing her every day, I realized I didn't want to ever be like her—weak, vulnerable, and in love. "Hey bro, what's up? Alpha Darren is awaiting your presence in the living room." Ryker my beta rasped as he sat on the chair opposite my desk. I starred at him blankly, wondering how he entered my office without me even noticing. 'How would you have noticed when you were too busy fantasying about your lover?'. Kyla squealed, and I instantly blocked him out. This was all so unreal; I didn't even notice Ryker's presence because I was thinking about her. Fuck, I was still thinking about her. "Reece". Ryker called out, narrowing his gaze at me. Apart from my family, Ryker was the only person I permitted to call me by my name, and that's because he wasn't just my beta but my best friend. We've been best friends since childhood and did all our training together. "You said Darren is waiting for me. Let's go hear what he has to say." I growled, rising from my seat, as I headed straight to the door. Ryker trailed closely behind me; if he thought anything about my sudden outburst, he didn't say it. "Reece my boy." Darren called out as I reached the living room. Darren was about twenty years older than me, but I disliked him and had no respect for him. Our packs had been enemies even before I was born. My grandfather died fighting his pack, and even my father was killed during a battle against the Obsidian Pack. "And to what do I owe this Visit Den?" I asked, purposely referring to him by his nickname, to get a rise out of him because I knew how much he hated when people do that. "Oh Reece, get ahold of yourself and stop acting like I would normally visit you; even the goddess knows I didn't want to be here." He snapped, as a smirk curled along my lips. It was good to know I infuriated him as much as he infuriated me. "So why exactly are you here? Did you come to spy my pack?". "Oh no, I have men that do that. I'm here because we both have a common goal: to capture the shapeshifter demon and destroy him. We've been trying to do that individually for the past years and couldn't succeed. The shapeshifter demon killed five of my pack members yesterday. I felt if we worked together as the two strongest pack, we could bring down the demon. What do you say?". "Anything to get that monster down, but don't think my relationship with you was going to change.". Darren let out a harsh chuckle. "Speaking of relationships, I want you to marry my daughter Evelyn as your chosen mate, and in exchange, I will team with you to defeat the shapeshifter demon.". I starred at Darren in confusion. He wanted me to agree to marry his daughter before he could help defeat the shapeshifter demon. A ruthless killer who normally sneaked into various packs in different forms, hiding his scent and killing innocent wolves. Killing the shapeshifter demon was for the good of all werewolves alive. So why force me to accept a marriage deal before he could team with me to defeat the ruthless demon? "Greetings Alpha. We just found Ethan's corpse by the boundary. His heart was ripped off and his eyes were plucked out." Jeremy, the head warrior, mindlinked me as I clenched my fists tightly, anger boiling inside me. Ethan was my gamma, and after Ryker, came Ethan. From the description Jeremy had just given, it was obvious the shapeshifter demon was the person responsible for Ethan's death. Taking a deep breath, I knew exactly what I needed to do next. "I accept your offer." I breathed out; even the words didn't sound right on my lips, marrying a girl, despite my promise to remain celibate. Darren let out a proud grin. "I knew you would accept. I have made preparations for another mating ball and sent invites to all other alpha's. My daughter would be there, and I would formally introduce you to her.".Chapter Three Sophie I glared at the screen, smiling to myself as I assessed the damage I had done. I had just hacked Alpha Reece bank account and transferred 10 million dollars to my duplicate account without leaving any trace behind. This wasn't the first time I was hacking his account. But this was the highest I had ever stolen from him—well, not stolen, because the money actually belongs to me. My late father was the Alpha of the Obsidian Pack, while my mother was his beloved Luna. They ruled together with dignity and prestige, until Darren, the pack beta, planned with his men to kill them. He had ordered them to rip out their hearts, so it will look like the shapeshifter demon did it, and no one was ever going to avenge their deaths. But what Darren didn't know was that I was aware he killed my parents, and I was going to stop at nothing until I had brought him down and avenged their deaths. You must be wondering where and how Reece came into the picture, I'll tell
Chapter Four Sophie To say the drive to the ball wasn't far will be a massive understatement. It was about a two-hour drive that felt like eternity. Honestly, we could have been faster in our wolf form, but Aurora insisted that it would be inconveniencing to shift back, and I might even ruin her beautiful makeup on my face. As we approached the double iron gate that led to the ball ground, The guards by the gate hurriedly opened the gate after confirming our identities. "Lucas told me, this is one of Alpha Darren's many houses." Aurora murmured as she turned the steering and curved the tire towards the packing lot. It was just twenty minutes into the ball, and the packing lot was already filled up. "Gosh. There isn't any space left. I will be reversing the car to pack outside while you go in and enjoy yourself. I will mindlink you once I'm back." She rasped, flashing me a reassuring smile, which I quickly returned, before stepping out of the passenger seat and watching the car
Chapter Five Reece. Every female I passed by kept squealing and stealing glances at me. It was so disgusting, I felt I would puke. I didn't even want to be in this mating ball tonight. I was here only for one sole purpose: to meet Darren, see his daughter, and seal the deal between us. 'And find the pretty wolf from the last ball'. Kyla squealed. 'Of what use is finding her? I will be getting married soon'. 'I knew it. So you liked her and deep down wanted to see her'. Kyla howled as I instantly blocked our mindlink. I didn't like her. I detested all females. And hated the word love. 'Chill is a process. From like comes love'. Kyla chuckled as an irritated scowl slipped off my lips. I thought I blocked the mindlink? Tired of dealing with Kyla, I rose from my seat and strode directly to the garden, at the far end of the building. I just needed to clear my mind. Just as my feet entered the garden, an amazing mix of jasmine and lavender invaded my senses; it was a scen
Chapter SixSophieMy heart raced as I ran frantically towards the entrance of the garden. My knees went weak as my feet grew wobble, but I knew I couldn't stop running. I had to run. I had to keep running if I wanted to survive and avoid being prosecuted by this ruthless man.If only I had a normal wolf scenting ability, then I wouldn't have been in this mess in the first place. My wolf was an omega and had difficulty detecting people's scent. Her ability to detect scents was just the same as a human, and that was why I couldn't detect his scent until it was too late. I thought kissing him was going to serve as an apology for the last ball, and he would let me go without being prosecuted. But instead, he pushed me away harshly, showing how eager he was to prosecute me for going against the laws. After he pushed me and my back collided against the hard floor, I knew I had to act fast, and that was why I made sure my raven black hair covered my face so he wouldn't have a perfect view
Chapter Seven Reece After the mating ball, I was determined to find Sophie by all means possible; even if it involved violence, I really did not care; I just wanted to find her and ask her to undo whatever spell she cast on me because I have never paid this much attention to any female, but then again, Sophie was different. She was bold, no shameless even to have approached and seduced me. I should have been used to it; females constantly throw themselves at me, but not with this particular one. I loved her every touch, feel, smell, voice, and kiss; she just had some kind of invisible charm that kept magnetizing me to her. The Obsidian pack borders had been closed for exactly one week; I had even lied to Darren that the reason I wanted to stay in his pack for that one week was to get familiar with it since we were building a family relationship together. With the help of Ryker, I had secretly gone house by house checking because I didn't trust my guards enough. Patrol had bee
Chapter EightSophieWe broke the kiss, and I whimpered at the loss of contact as my lips instantly went dry.Yes, I was the bride. With the help of the money I normally receive from hacking the Reece bank account, I was able to hire watchers to kidnap Evelyn a few hours before the wedding began. And well, I guess it was all for the best since Evelyn wasn't even into the wedding in the first place. I had paid the watchers to rent a comfortable room for her and make sure she was probably fed. After which, I had changed into her dress and spread her scent all over me. "Do you, Evelyn Darren, take Alpha Reece Blood Moon for your lawful husband to have and to hold from this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer or for poorer, in sickness and in health, until death do you part? To love and to honor him all the days of your life." The priest stated, pulling me back to reality.I nodded. "Yes, I do."Wait What?Reece was my groom. I had just gotten married to my worst nemesis wi
Chapter nineReece "Let's get the fuck out of here". I hissed, suddenly feeling knots in the pit of my stomach. Something was definitely wrong, and I needed to return back to my pack so I could figure it out. With trembling fingers Evelyn slowly rosed to her feet, as I motioned her to walk ahead of me, her hips swaying so seductively, and before I could even stop myself a low growl rolled off my lips, but loud enough for Evelyn to flinch, the girl was pure seduction, and I couldn't give in to her temptation, no, not when she was Darren daughter.Getting closer with the enemy wasn't an option, I knew Darren had sent her to me for that purpose and also to know what my weakness was, but that wasn't going to happen, because I had already placed my heart in the hands of Sophie, and after Darren and I, had defeated the shapeshifter demon, I was going to return his daughter back to him, a shattered, broken girl, he would never recognize. She stops directly outside the door of the hall, her
Chapter TenSophie I didn't know how long I stood awkwardly in the living room, waiting for Reece to return but he never did. My body was all sweaty and tired, and I desperately needed to hop out of this heels. If Reece had maybe showed me a room where I could rest things would have been much better for me, because I would have simply ditched his order and gone there. But as it were he had left me stranded here and it was utterly frustrating.'I'm so tired Sophie, why don't we just shower and rest in any of the rooms upstairs'. Myra my wolf howled, as relief instantly flooded me, how did I never thought of that before now.In a blink, I ascended the stairs, and decided to amble straight to the first door I saw, with one swift turning of the door knob, it opened as I instantly entered in.The entire room was dead silent and dark, save for a dimly reflection of light from outside, shining through the slightly opened windows in the room. Without sparing a second, I hopped out of my heel
Chapter Hundred-Twenty sixSophie. My eyelids slowly parted open, as I felt Reece firm hands pressed tightly against my waist. The events of last night came replaying; How Reece had taken my virginity, and spoke sweet caring words to me till I felt at sleep in his arms. I just wished every day could be like this, me waking up to see his face, as the first thing in every morning, and going back to sleep still seeing his face as the last thing before I went to bed. But I knew better.Yawning, I struggled to pull myself out of Reece hold, as I felt sores in my thighs, yesterday was really exhausting, yet beautiful, I'd love to do it again another time."Your awake beautiful". Came Reece soft silky voice at the crook of my neck as I shuddered, before turning my gaze to him."Good morning". My mumbled feeling heat raised to my cheeks. He chuckled. "You look prettier when you're shy. So I was thinking about the full moon festival, should I send a call across to Elara to make us matching cou
Chapter Hundred-Twenty fiveSophie"You know you really don't need to lie about me being pregnant, when we could just make that happen. You said you're ready when I am and I don't think I've ever been more ready then I am right now".He let out a muffled chuckle, making my insides tightened. "Your not joking about this, you're fucken serious, right?".I pinched the bridge of my nose. "Does it sound like I'm joking husband"."Husband? Hmm I love the sound of that". He rasped, pulling me closer by my waist as sparks of electricity danced around every part of my body. I would never get used to his touches. In a blink, his soft lips pressed firmly against mine, dominating me as though he had long been starved for this moment. His tongue delved deep into mine, wanting to know all my secrets, my fears, and my anxiety. I moaned in pleasure kissing him back as my hands went to the back of his black hair, while his went from my waist to my shirt ripping it off as I felt the air on my naked bre
Chapter Hundred-Twenty fourSophie "Come on, Sophie. I'm sure we could strike some sort of negotiation". She whimpered as I laughed. Genevieve was a real fool if she thought I was going to let her leave here alive, especially after she had threatened to expose me."So..". She began, but I don't let her complete her sentence, as I flung her across the room, causing her to groan and whimper. In a blink, she began shifting into her wolf form, as I spared a second to laugh. She must be really stupid for thinking her pathetic wolf could stand a chance against me; even in my human form, I was still stronger than her, but since this is the way she wanted it, I let out a guttural growl as I shifted to my demon form, my pungent demon scent filling the air.Genevieve Wolf instantly charged at me, but my demon beast was stronger, and I swiftly dodged. She made another attempt to lunge at me, and as I waited, she was only a second away from slamming me against the door before I dodged, giving he
Chapter Hundred-Twenty threeSophie My alarm clock growled loudly beside me as I grudgingly rolled over to turn it off. Fuck, today was Monday, a.k.a. the worst day of the week. Since I could remember, I've always hated Mondays because I felt weekends weren't long enough, and Monday should have been included in week endings.Sighing, I lazily rose from my bed, and as I ambled to the bathroom to shower, after my thirty-minute hot shower, I slipped into my blue shirt and black trousers—the perfect corporate wear to begin the week. Ambling to the silvery mirror in my room, I packed my hair into a neat bun in order to appear so elegant and beautiful. Once I was done, I hopped into my comfy sandals heel as I strode out of my room, proud and beautiful as always."My love, you look so beautiful.". Blake smiled as he drew the distance between us, slamming his lips against mine.I instantly pulled away. "Have you gone crazy, Blake? What if someone sees us?"."I can't help it, love; I just wa
Chapter Hundred-Twenty twoSophie "Gina, what's wrong? What is happening to you"? "I... I don't know, Sophie, what do you think the matter is?". She whimpered as sweat beads formed on her face."We need to rush you to the pack healer, Gina; you're barely even breathing.". I cried as I raced towards her, my palms growing clammy."I don't want to die; you need to help me, So...". And just then her lips clammed shut, alongside her eyes and body temperature."Lena!! Lena!!". I cried as loud as my tiny vocal cords could carry, hitting and pushing her, but still nothing.'Lena, what should we o? Should I mix my blood with hers? Was she going to be okay? I rasped but was met with dead silence from Lena.Out of my desperation to see my friend alive and sound again. I elongated my fangs as I shook it deep into my finger before doing the same to Gina—the moment my fang touched her skin, I stumbled back, spitting continuously."What just happened?". I murmured to myself as I drew level wit
Chapter Hundred- Twenty oneSophie "I have proof everyone, I have proof to back up the fact that Lydia is a demon.". I hissed as Celine's gaze instantly flicked over mine with hope, confirming my suspicions that she actually knew something."I can't believe you guys are entertaining all this nonsense. Guards". Evelyn growled, and I could feel the urgency in her voice. She was truly scared about what evidence I might have."Hold on.". Genevieve ordered the guards, before shifting her gaze to Lydia. "Let's listen to the nonsense she has to spit. Blake, please do well to put this on video so I could show it to my father when his back is turned; he'll need a lot of comic reliefs like this, considering how draining those Alpha meetings could be.".Lydia instantly stiffened. "This is utterly ridiculous; they should just take her outside and beat her up.". She mumbled as cold sweats broke out from her face."Chill, Lydia, this will be so funny; let's hear her out. Blake set the camera".
Chapter Hundred-TwentySophie "Is it okay, Sophie? I believe as long as Lydia's men did not find him, everything is going to be okay. Besides, who knows, maybe a good Samaritan saw him and saved him.. Gina reassured me as she scooted closer to me, placing a hand along my shoulder, and I could only hope that was the case.'We should return back to the palace.'. Lena rasped, as I nodded, before turning my face to Gina."We should get going; we wouldn't want anyone to notice our absence and start bugging us with questions.". I mumbled as we both sprang to our feet. The green blur of trees passing as we raced to the palace.Gina sneaks in first, careful not to make a noise. After a second, I sneaked in through the hidden door as well, taking each step at a time. Just as my feet climbed the first stairs, Blake's loud growl echoed in my ears."Elena.". He growled as I shuddered, sweat beads forming across my face. Inhaling a deep breath, I spun sharply to face him."Greetings, Bla....
Chapter Hundred-NineteenSophie"Guards.". Lydia growled as two guards raced towards her."Yes, Luna.". They mumbled, going on one knee, as they bowed their heads to the ground."Release her immediately.". She hissed before stomping off with Blake. In a blink, the guards instantly untied me, as I inhaled a sharp breath, before ambling weakly to my room. Once in my room, I closed the door, leaning weakly against it, as I buried my hands in my face.Of what use was my life when my beloved Asher was gone? No, I couldn't keep living this way; I was going to end it all so I could be with him wherever he is. I didn't want a life where he wasn't a part of it."Elena!!". Gina's voice sounded from outside my door, and as more tears rolled down my cheeks, she must have heard of Asher's death and is here to console me. I didn't need her pity or consolation, especially as I will be joining him soon, so I yelled back."Go away, Gina. I don't want to speak with anyone."."If course you do, what
Chapter Hundred-EighteenSophie"Of course you would accept; no one wants to die.". I laughed harder as I ambled to my bed."Now come seat my pawn, so I'll tell you what the plan is.". I mumbled, as a grim smile curled at the corners of my lips. Sophie might think it's all over, but that's where she gets it wrong because this is just the beginning.Celine slowly strode to my bed, as she occupied the space beside me, her entire body trembling. That's good; let her tremble, so she never dares to challenge me again."So you see, Celine, as you already know, I'm a demon, and I hate Elena. I want you to help create enmity between her and her mate; your job is simple: I will transform your face into that of Elena's, and hire warriors to attack you, but don't worry; everything will be all an act; the actual person who will be attacked is Elena; she will be beaten by my men. Somehow her mate always happens to know when she is in trouble and comes to her rescue. I will make the beatings so s
