Chapter Sixty-six

Catherine's POV:

Last night, after the kids had been put to bed, I sat at the terrace, staring at the stars but not really seeing a thing.

I was feeling rather bleak and honestly, I wished there was a way to put an end to it. Realizing that there was none, I decided that reading a book would do the job. So I sat there, trying hard to hold back my tears as I leafed through pages without even reading a thing.

I had felt a presence behind me while I was crying but I ignored it, knowing fully well that I was just wishing Michael was there to listen to me.

The next morning, I woke up to the kids jumping around in my bed. Cracking one eye open, I caught sight of Jason pushing his train up and down the window sill. I heard something clatter on my vanity table and turned to see Julia holding a lipstick and rubbing it around her lip.
