Chapter Seventy-three

Catherine's POV:

I remained in his arms for a long time and my body relaxed so much I almost slept off. I got accustomed to the scent of his body and his cologne. It had to be the nicest fragrance combination that had ever wafted into my nose and I pushed into him, glad that he got the memo and pulled me in.

His chin rested above my head and I could hear his soft breathing and the steady beat of his heart. He kissed the top of my head and pulled away, leaving me empty.

He had a smile on his face and he looked down at his feet and kicked a piece of rock close to his shoe before turning to me. "We should start getting ready to go to the lake?"

A wave of excitement washed over me and I nodded enthusiastically, pulling him back to the sheets we had spread on the ground.

We both packed everything up. I rolled up the blankets while he took the picnic baskets and its content into the car trunk.
