Alpha Michael's POV: The rest of the meeting went by in a blur. I could barely concentrate on what the men were saying. All I wanted to do was walk out of that room and tell the men never to return. These weren't the investors I was expecting. They looked like they were scammers disguising as stinking rich Arabians. Finally, the meeting was over. I shook hands with the men and promised to get back to them before they left and as soon as they did, I turned to my employees. "Who was the one who referred them to us?" They all looked from one person to the other and soon enough, they had their eyes on one of the men seated at the far end of the room. He looked older than everyone here with a pair of thin glasses against his eyes. Pushing to his feet, he nodded. "It was a push notification so I clicked on it and saw that it was a great opportunity. We have had contracts with other Arabian investors and that has always turned out well so I believed it was the s
Catherine's POV: I remained seated on his lap while he spoke on the phone and as soon as he was done, I turned to him. "Is something wrong?" He sighed and slipped his fingers into his hair before letting out a deep sigh. "Well, not really. I just need to see someone and it's really urgent." I pushed to my feet immediately, pushing the plate aside before turning to him. "Are you going to be gone for long? I can wait if that's what you want." He pushed to his feet and shook his head. "Whenever he calls, I'd spend the whole day there or running around. It's just a lot that had to be done. Can you drive back home? Or I could ask someone to drive you home." "Oh, don't worry," I pulled my keys out of my bag and dangled it in his face. "I came with a car. I drove here so going back isn't going to be so hard for me." Sighing, he nodded and picked his phone and his keys next before pulling me into a hug and kissing me. "Drive safe." "How do I lock your office?" "
Alpha Michael's POV: "What do you suggest we do now?" Shaft asked as he drew back his phone and placed it on the concrete slab. We were standing at the rooftop of the apartment building that secretly housed his office, looking down at the city down below. "She's using a whole lot of people and I may start to believe your step brother has a connection to what is happening." “Peter is always in the middle of anything relating to my downfall so I am not surprised," I sighed. "I just realized that I have been holding back too much because he's my brother and I don't want to hurt him. Imagine how much damage that has caused." "Why don't you just end it all?" Shaft shrugged. "I mean, you're not even that related to him. He's your step-brother and was birthed by another woman." "I feel pity for him," I chuckled to myself and looked down at my feet. I kicked a ball of paper and watched it roll down the drain before I followed to see it flying down the road. "I found out the t
Catherine's POV: The car finally came to a halt as commanded by the man. He had asked me to pull over at the entrance of the woods and I did as he had asked, pushing the door open and quickly going to the back to grab the kids. Julia's eyes were red from crying and Jason had gone silent but I could see the fear in his eyes. He was more than afraid and honestly, I totally understood why he would be. "Now, walk that path." The man continued. "And don't waste my time while doing that. I do not have the patience to wait!" "Mum," Julia began, her voice shaky as we climbed out of the car. The man behind us kept pushing at me to keep walking and that had me and the kids almost falling over to the other side. "Where are we going?" I did not stop walking as I turned to look at my daughter. She whimpered softly and I did not miss the tears in her eyes. "Move!" The man snapped before I could give a reply. I flinched and Julia burst into tears. She was ripped out of my
Alpha Michael's POV: The shrill ring of my phone permeated into my ears and I turned immediately, snatching it up from the cupholder beside me. I decided that it was one of the men working towards rescuing Catherine and the kids that had called. I picked up the call just as I swerved into the next highway that led towards the northern part of the city. I was going to pay Peter a visit. He surely had an idea of where my family was since all he had done in the past few months was remind me that I had to watch my back or else, he was going to strike really hard. Hitting the gas once again, kept driving and brought the phone to my ears. "What's up?" Sniffles came first and confused, I believed it was Catherine and hoped she had gotten a phone and snuck out to call me. "Catherine?" I called again. "Is that you? Are you crying?" "It's Jennifer." At first, I decided to stop in the middle of the road and give her a piece of my mind for calling me this late but I refrained f
Catherine's POV: My eyes fluttered open and I realized that I had been asleep the whole time. Blinking, I looked above me and sighed before lifting my hand and wiping the sweat off my face. A terrible headache billowed at the back of my head. I groaned softly and remained on the floor, noticing that my whole body was wet. When I finally planted my palm on the ground beside me, I realized that the whole floor was bathed in water. So was my body. As the memories of how I had blanked out returned, my headache intensified. I slept softly and remained on the ground, wishing and hoping for this headache to pass. But it didn't. I remained on the floor for a long time, moving in and out of consciousness before a piercing scream had me sitting up with immediate effect. "Oh, no," I groaned and fell on all fours, crawling around the room in search of the door. That scream. It sounded like it belonged to Julia. Realization hit me and I went into a full blown panic
Catherine's POV: I jumped into his arms as soon as I saw him, sobbing heavily as he lifted me off the floor. He pressed his nose into my neck, inhaling softly as he caressed my back. "You're safe," He muttered. "You're really safe. I'm sorry I wasn't around. I shouldn't have left you to leave at the office. Fuck." "It's fine," I cupped his cheeks and looked into his eyes, smiling softly. "Thank you for coming to save me." "Mum!" Julia cried and pulled at my dress. I turned to the both of them immediately and crouched to her level before pulling her into a hug and kissing her on the forehead. I pulled Jason into a hug and held them both close to me, remaining still and savoring their presence in my arms before I pulled away. "What did they do to you both?" I asked, hating that I wasn't there with them in the first place. They should have left me with them. Julia lowered her head and tears began to stream down her cheeks before she spoke. "They didn't let us e
Alpha Michael's POV: I was on my way to get the kids when my phone rang in my pocket once again. Honestly, I was too tired to even check who was calling me and the most annoying part was who was calling. Jennifer. "What do you want?" I asked as I stood at the corner. I didn't want the kids to see me mad and yelling. "Haven't I told you never to call me again? What exactly do you want from me?!" "Yesterday, I asked for us to see at the hotel. I waited all night for you but you never showed up. You didn't even pick your calls or call back. Or didn't you see my calls?" "I chose not to see you. Do you have an issue with that? When did you become a controller of my life, huh?" When she speaks this time, her voice is laced with light laughter and mockery. "Oh, look at you getting all mad at me for calling you. You used to pine for me in the past but now, Catherine is now the order of the day. Are you going to tell her that you'll get tired of her real soon or do you intend on giv
