Chapter Thirty

AVERY

I ambled out of the bathroom in a new dress, which was given to me by the court lady, the lady from earlier. My head was still bandaged, so I made sure not to touch it. I stepped out of the room and I was in the middle of a hallway with soft lighting and warm colors.

I made my way forward. I had no idea where I was heading but I just wanted to be out of the room. As I walked through the hallway, I caught sight of the paintings laid on the wall. One of them was a painting of the moon, the other was the sky. At a distance, a painting of a human figure laid on the wall. I sauntered to the painting and I blinked when I saw a man there. He looked like he was in his early fifties in the painting. His face was stoic and carried elegance and power. I got chills from just staring at it.

"Avery." I turned at the sound of my name.
