Chapter 7

Aurora's pov

As my hand held her tight, I smile back at her, feeling grateful for her kindness and care. As she left the room, I closed my eyes and let out a deep sigh. I felt my eyelids growing heavy.

The alpha would like to see you tomorrow morning," the maid said, carrying the empty bowl which I had just finished. I nodded, lying on the bed tiredly, as I dozed off to sleep.

The next morning, I woke up to the sound of the cock crowing and the bright reflection of the sun from the window straight to my face. With a big smile on my face, I stood up, stretching my body, followed by a big yawn.

I entered the bathroom, and the shower dripped heavily on my head. I closed my eyes as a sudden thought came to me as it was the words of Asher and Sophia hitting me like a heavy rock on my head. Their bitter words were still disturbing me.

I stopped the shower tap with anger. "All this is finally over now," I thought, followed by a deep breath. "I have an unborn child to worry about, so I don't need all this unnecessary stuff to occupy me."

I stepped out of the shower as a sudden knock at the door caught my attention. I faced the door in surprise, wondering who it was, as the door lock was opening from outside. The door creaked open, and it was the maid from the last night.

"Greetings," the maid said with a bow. I nodded with a faded smile.

"The alpha awaits your presence," the maid said. "He said that he didn't have much time yesterday, which is why the two of you had a brief discussion."

I nodded, understanding the situation. The maid handed me a towel to dry myself, and I quickly wrapped it around my body, as I prepare quickly.

"Follow me, please," the maid said, gesturing for me to follow her.

I nodded and followed her out of the room, down the hallway, and to a large wooden door. The maid knocked on the door, and a deep voice from the other side bid us enter.

The maid pushed open the door, and I stepped inside, finding myself in a grand throne room. The alpha sat on a large throne, his piercing eyes fixed on me. He nodded in greeting, and I curtsied, feeling a sense of nervousness.

"Good morning," the alpha said, his voice deep and commanding. "I trust you slept well?"

I nodded, still feeling a bit intimidated by the alpha's presence.

"Good," the alpha said, his expression serious. "I have summoned you here today to discuss your... situation."

I felt a surge of anxiety, wondering what the alpha meant by "situation." But before I could ask any questions, the alpha continued.

"I understand of your... condition," he said, his eyes locked on mine. "And I must say, I felt pity."

I felt a sense of confusion, unsure of what the alpha meant by his words. But before I could ask any questions, he continued.

"I believe that you could be a great asset to our pack one day," the alpha said, his expression serious. "And I am willing to do whatever it takes to ensure your safety and well-being."

I felt a surge of surprise, unsure of what to make of the alpha's words. But before I could respond, he continued.

"But first, we must discuss the terms of your stay here," the alpha said, his eyes locked on mine. "I'm afraid that there are certain... rules that you must follow, for your safety."

I looked at him, confused by his words. "Don't be afraid, I mean well," the alpha said, "but it is just that some of my elders do not see it fitting for your presence. I would say they look at it weird and strange, but who could blame them? As a young, beautiful lady from far across our land, which is still unknown to us, and also claiming to have been chased by your parents' murderers, as you are mute," the alpha said, mocking the quote sign using his hands.

All I could do was take a deep breath, bowing in disappointment. "Like I said last night, you are under my protection," the alpha said, "but you must also abide by my rules, which is your complete loyalty to me and my beta."

The alpha turned to his beta, who rolled his eyes in frustration. "What my alpha is saying," the beta said, "which I know you are clearly heard, because I don't think your condition also came with being deaf, also," but he was quickly interrupted by the alpha.

"Hey, stop! What is it with the insult?" the alpha said, his face folding with anger.

"Oh, my bad," the beta said, "but am just saying the obvious. Or is there any lie to what I am saying? Is it not the truth?" the beta said, shifting away from the alpha.

I looked at the beta with a faded smile, knowing from his words that he did not welcome me here, but the alpha was, with a little bit of doubt.

The alpha's expression softened slightly as he turned back to me. "I apologize for my beta's behavior," he said. "He can be... blunt at times."

I nodded, still feeling a bit uneasy from the beta's words. The alpha continued, his voice firm but gentle.

"As I was saying, you must be loyal to me and my beta. You will also be expected to follow our rules and traditions. In return, we will provide for you and keep you safe."

I thought about the alpha's words, weighing the pros and cons of accepting his offer. I knew that I had nowhere else to go, and that the alpha's protection was my best chance at survival.

I nodded, making a decision. The alpha smiled, seeming to sense that I had accepted his offer.

"Good," he said. "I will assign one of my guards to be your personal escort. They will ensure your safety and help you navigate our lands."

I nodded again, feeling a sense of relief wash over me. The alpha turned to his beta, who was still looking at me with a mixture of curiosity and suspicion.

"Assign one of the guards to escort her," the alpha said. "And make sure they understand that she is under my protection."

The beta nodded, still looking at me with a skeptical expression. I knew that I would have to be careful around him, as he seemed to be watching my every move.
