Chapter 14

Aurora's pov 

The alpha's eyes seemed to bore into mine, as if he was searching for any sign of fear or weakness. "But don't worry, Aurora," he said, his voice softening. "I'll do everything in my power to protect you. You're under my protection now, and I won't let anyone harm you not even my beta."

I felt a sign of gratitude in me at the alpha's words. No one had ever offered to protect me before, and I didn't know how to respond.

The alpha seemed to sense my emotions, and he reached out to place a hand on my shoulder. "You're safe now, Aurora," the alpha said, his voice low and soothing. "I promise you that."

I nodded, feeling a sense of relief. For the first time in a long time, I felt a little bit like I could finally relax, like I was finally safe, .

But as I looked up at the alpha, I saw something in his eyes that made me feel uneasy. It was a look of intensity, and of demanding total attention of love, and it made me wonder if I had just traded one danger for another.

I tried to push the thought aside, telling myself that I was just being insecure. The alpha had been kind to me, and he seemed genuinely concerned for my safety.

But as I looked into his eyes, I couldn't shake the feeling that there was something more to his intentions. Something that I couldn't quite put my finger on.

The alpha's hand was still on my shoulder, and I could feel the warmth of his touch spreading through my body. It was a comforting feeling, but it also made me feel trapped.

I gently wave his hand off my shoulder, trying not to make it seem like I was rejecting him. "Thank you, alpha," I wrote on my notepad. "I appreciate your concern for my safety."

The alpha's expression didn't change, but I could sense a flicker of disappointment in his eyes. "You're welcome, Aurora," he said, his voice neutral. "I'll make sure that the beta doesn't bother you again."

I nodded, feeling a sense of relief. But as I looked at the alpha, I couldn't help but wonder what his true motives were. Was he really just trying to protect me, or was there something more to it?

I decided to push my doubts aside for the time being and focus on the fact that the alpha was trying to help me. I nodded my head in gratitude and wrote on my notepad, "Thank you, alpha and I appreciate your help."

The alpha smiled and stood up, towering over me with his tall frame. "You're welcome, Aurora," he said. "I'll make sure that you're safe and taken care of. You're under my protection now."

I felt a surge of relief at his words, but also a sense of unease. What did it mean to be under the alpha's protection? And what would he expect from me in return?

As if sensing my unease, the alpha's expression softened. "Don't worry, Aurora," he said. "I won't hurt you. I promise."

I looked up at him, searching for any sign of deception. But all I saw was kindness and sincerity in his eyes.

Just then, there was a knock at the door. The alpha's head snapped towards the sound, and he growled low in his throat.

"Who is it?" he called out, his voice firm and commanding.

There was a pause, and then a voice replied, It's was one of his guard, "my alpha. I need to speak with you."

The alpha's expression changed, and he looked at me with a hint of apology. "I'll be right back, Aurora," he said. "I need to take care of something."

I nodded, and the alpha turned to leave. As he walked out of the room, I couldn't help but wonder what was going on, but I had to put the thought aside. 

All the different thoughts were flowing in my mind as I struggled to comprehend any of them. If the beta was truly unstable and had a history of violence, then what about the alpha's overly affectionate behavior after the drama the beta had just pulled towards me? I couldn't shake the feeling that something wasn't quite right.

I stood in front of the mirror, still wrapped in my towel, and took a deep breath. I shook my head, trying to clear my thoughts.

Just then, a knock at the door distracted me. It was my guard. "Is everything alright, ma'am?" he asked.

I turned to him, forcing a nod with a faded smile. "I think so," I replied.

The guard looked at me with concern. "You don't seem okay. Do you want to talk about it?"

I shook my head, not feeling like discussing my concerns with him. After all, he was just a guard - what could he possibly do to help?

The guard nodded understandingly. "Okay, ma'am. I think you should probably get dressed and try to rest for tomorrow."

I nodded, still feeling a bit dazed. The guard left, and I was alone once again with my thoughts.

The night was not peaceful like the previous nights I had been having. I kept rolling on my bed, unable to sleep, as thoughts continued to hit me. The clock seemed to be ticking at a glacial pace, and I found myself growing more and more restless.

I tried reading, but even that was no escape. Every word on the page seemed irrelevant, and my mind kept wandering back to the events of the day.

The night seemed to drag on forever, and I felt like I was trapped in some kind of never-ending nightmare. Finally, the cock crowed, signaling the start of a new day and ending my miserable night which was showing no sign of leave despite the light of the day.

How will I be able do with my feelings of unease regarding the alpha while also needing his protection
