Aurora's pov

The figure stepped forward, revealing a hooded face. I couldn't see his features, but his eyes gleamed in the moonlight.

"Who are you?" I wrote on my notepad, holding it up for the figure to see.

The figure hesitated, then pulled back its hood, revealing a shocking face, as my mind flashes back to remember. It was one of the alpha's guards, the alpha's personal guard.

"I'm here to warn you, Aurora," the guard said, his voice low and urgent. "The alpha is not what he seems. He has a hidden agenda, and you're right in the middle of it."

I felt a chill run down my spine as I processed the guard's words. What could the alpha possibly want from me?

"What do you mean?" I wrote on my notepad, my hand shaking slightly.

The guard looked around nervously, as if he feared being overheard. "The alpha is searching for something," he said. "Something that could give him immense power. And he thinks you're the key to finding it."

I felt like I'd been punched in the gut. What could I pos

"And now this is what we call justice," my personal guard whispered in my ears.It was as if I should just vomit as I watched Ryder's lifeless body slump to the ground. The sound of his head hitting the stone floor was still echoing in my mind, and I couldn't shake the feeling of horror and disgust. As I stood there, frozen in shock, my personal guard words were filled with irony, and I could sense the underlying criticism of the alpha's regime.I felt a surge of anger and frustration. How could this be considered justice? That guard was warning me about the alpha's true intentions, and now he was dead. It was clear that the alpha would stop at nothing to maintain his power and control. As I stood there, trying to process what I had just witnessed, I felt a gentle tug on my arm. Aurora povI stood there staring at him to get an answer, then he broke the silent."Rumors have it that there are some people forming alliances to bring me down," the alpha said, his words filled with confidence. "So, before they increase in population, deceiving people and also brainwashing my citizens to start a war against me, I had to fish them out and do what has to be done."I looked at him, trying to see some signs of deceit or lies, but there were none. All I could see was the truth, which made me even more confused. Was it possible that the alpha was telling the truth, and that Ryder had indeed been a traitor? Or was the alpha just a skilled manipulator, able to make me believe whatever he wanted? I couldn't shake the feeling that there was more to the story than what the alpha was letting on.I stared at the alpha, searching for any sign of deception or manipulation. But as I looked into his eyes, I saw only sincerity and conviction. His words were laced with all sorts of d

Aurora povBut actually it was the thought of the beta. Ever since that drama that happened that day in the room I haven't seen him.I quickly pulled out my notepad and wrote, "What about your beta?"I stared at the alpha's face, eager to get an answer. He smiled, but it seemed forced."Oh, I sent him on a mission, but you don't need to bother yourself. He would be back soon," the alpha said.I raised an eyebrow, confused and at the same time scared. "What type of mission?" I wrote, looking confused. The alpha chuckled. "Come on, it's nothing much. He just went to secure our Eastern border," he said, but his tone seemed unconvincing.I narrowed my eyes, sensing that the alpha was hiding something. Securing the Eastern border sounded like a vague excuse, and I couldn't wrap the feeling that there was more to the story.I wrote another question on my notepad, "How long will he be gone?"The alpha's smile faltered for a moment before he regained his composure. "Oh, not long. Just a few w

Aoura's povThe guard's sudden change in looks and behavior caught me off guard. He wasn't interested in hearing more about my meeting with the alpha, and instead, suggested we head to work."You know what? Hmmm... let's just go to work," he said, his voice a bit too casual. "You haven't gone to work since morning."I nodded, feeling a bit confused by the guard's behavior. We walked in silence, the only sound being the soft rustling of our footsteps. The guard didn't say another word, and I couldn't help but wonder what was going through his mind.As we walked, I couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. The guard's sudden disinterest in my meeting with the alpha, combined with his unusual silence, left me with a little bit of unease. I looks at him sideways, trying to read his expression, but his face remained neutral. We continued walking in silence, the tension between us increases. I couldn't help but wonder what was going on inside the guard's head. Was he hiding somethi

Aurora's pov I felt the guard's arms tighten around me, holding me securely in place as he continued to move swiftly through the corridors. The alpha's voice grew fainter, and I sensed that we were putting distance between ourselves and the alpha's concerned would increase. As the guard's footsteps slowed, I felt relief. Maybe, just maybe, I was going to be okay. The guard's gentle voice whispered in my ear, "Hang in there, ma'am, we're almost there."I felt the guard's arms adjust around me, and then I was being lowered onto a soft surface. I opened my eyes to find myself in a small, dimly lit room. The guard was kneeling beside me, his face etched with concern."Ma'am, can you hear me?" he asked, his voice soft and gentle.I nodded, still trying to catch my breath. The pain was still there, but it had subsided slightly. The guard nodded and stood up. "I'll get the medic," he said, and quickly exited the room.I was left alone, my mind racing with questions. Aurora's povI nodded, as I was feeling a mix of different emotions. The nurse's enthusiasm was infectious, but I couldn't let go of the fear and uncertainty that had been plaguing me since I discovered I was pregnant. The nurse seemed to sense my unease, and her expression softened. "Don't worry, we'll take good care of you and the baby," she reassured me. "But I do need to ask, have you experienced any complications or issues during your pregnancy so far?"I hesitated, unsure of how much to reveal. But the nurse's kind and gentle manner put me at ease, and I found myself opening up to her about my symptoms and concerns. The nurse listened attentively, her expression growing more serious as I shared my concerns. When I finished, she nodded thoughtfully and made some notes in her book."Don't worry, we'll run some tests and make sure everything is okay," she said reassuringly. "But in the meantime, I want you to take it easy and get plenty of rest. Can you do that for me?"I nodded,

Aurora's povDays turned into weeks as I made a rapid recovery. Despite the guard's daily inquiries, I remained resolute in my decision to reject the alpha's proposal to visit me. I desperately needed time and space to think, rest, and nurture my unborn child. However, a pressing concern continues to be over me: how could I conceal my pregnancy from everyone, especially the alpha? My belly was starting to show, and it would become increasingly difficult to hide. The nurse was the only one aware of my condition, and I wasn't sure how much longer I could keep it under wraps. As my stomach continued to grow, I became more anxious about keeping my secret hidden. The guard, although well-intentioned, was becoming increasingly curious about my condition. I could sense his eyes on me, looking over my every move, and I knew it was only a matter of time before he discovered the truth. One day, as the nurse was making her rounds, she cautiously handed me a bundle of loose-fitting clothes. Aurora's povDays continued to passed, one evening as I was sitting in my room, I heard a faint knock on the door. I looked up to see the nurse standing in the doorway, a sly smile on her face."Hey, I brought you some more of those loose-fitting clothes," she said, holding up a bag. "But I also have some news. I overheard the alpha talking to one of his advisors, and it sounds like he's planning something big."My heart skipped a beat as I took the bag from her. "What kind of something?" I asked, trying to keep calm as my curiosity was obvious judging from the way I was writing. The nurse leaned in close, her voice barely above a whisper. "I'm not entirely sure, but it sounds like it has something to do with you. And the alpha."My eyes widened as I felt a surge of fear. What could the alpha possibly have planned? And how could I protect myself and my unborn child? What do the alpha wants this time and what is he planning? I wrote. "To be honest, I don't know what he's planning," th

Asher povI turned to leave, but just when I was about to hold the room door handle, I felt a sharp pain coming from my chest. "Haha!" I shouted with pain as my face twisted."If your anger is too much for you to handle, you can do it outside this room, instead of yelling in front of me," Sophia said, her voice calm and low behind me. I could feel that she shouted, but to my ears, her voice was low.I tried to compose myself, but the pain came again, and this time, I was on one knee, down with my face down also. I had never felt that pain all my life. It was as if thousands of sharp knives were piercing through my chest."What is wrong with you, Asher?" Sophia asked, but still, her voice was very low to my ears. "Am I the one drunk here, but it's you who's affected?""I'm not joking here," I said, falling down with a blink. I was already lying on the floor. The next thing I knew, everywhere was blurry, and the whole ceiling was as if it was falling down towards me. I looked around, on

Asher povI stepped across onto the other side and onto the other side, with the elder's frown on me but never ever looking at some one thing behind me over my own shoulder. I knew that I had to keep my mind fixed on saving the twins from abuse and tyranny in the custody of Aurora.I walked back to my car, my mind reeling with images of what might come next. I knew that Aurora was not going to slink away in the shadows, and I had to be ready for anything she would try.I returned to my car and I saw there was a note on the windshield. I strode over to read it and it was a message in red ink:"You'll never take them away from me."I was able to escape after I knew Aurora wrote the letter. She was slightly more deranged than I thought, and I knew I'd do to myself what I'd do for keeping the twins.I clutched the letter in my hand and drove as quickly as my car into the car, and my mind was racing at top speed with ideas of shielding the twins from harm.I began the engine and accelerate

Asher povThere was a tense environment in the room as I gazed at Aurora's frowning face."Please, you all, sit down," one of the elders interrupted. Her PA, reading what she had noted down, interrupted her reading, and Aurora's face reflected the seething fire raging inside. We sat facing each other, so I didn't need to glance at her, so my gaze was elsewhere. She remained quiet, but fingers were never far from putting pen to paper."As I have just mentioned, I would not have lived if it were not for my twins," read her PA what she had written."You don't just make decisions like that in front of us," one of the elders, who was the oldest among them, protested. "Just now we learned your twins are also the blood of Alpha Asher, and therefore we cannot let you take them away from us without a decision on it."Aurora's eyes reddened with rage as she seethed and penned furiously in her book. Her PA translated to her what she had retorted, "I am their mother, and I have a right to take th

Asher povI stared at the baby, whose eyes his were still tight in a horrific intensity. I moved back as it started to register that something was wrong with this child. The knock on the door pulled us out of it, and I moved towards the door to open it. "Enter," I snarled, my voice sharp. The door creaked open and one of my guards pushed a nurse ahead of him. "My alpha, we've brought the baby for some tests," the nurse gushed with a smile. I nodded, a bit nervously. "Very well. But return him to my chambers soon."The nurse smiled and extended her gentle hand to take the baby, and she glowed from face to shoulders. She took a step backward, and I reached out and caught her arm to keep her close. "Wait," I said."Yes, my alpha?" she turned back questioningly to face me."Be gentle with him," I commanded, not taking my eyes off the baby. "He's.different."The nurse's face cleared, and she nodded gravely. "I'll take good care of him, my alpha."I released her, and she disappeared with t

Asher pov The crying of the baby doubled every minute from the clock, and nurses were trying to muffle the crying baby but nothing was being accomplished despite whatever they did. I just remained standing, unmoving, with no idea what to say or do, with only the rigid face of the baby. The war had begun already, before the war ever began. "Alpha! Alpha!!" the doctor shouted, and I regained consciousness. "Ahh, what?" I bellowed, jerking my head away from the baby and toward the doctor. "Your baby, do you want to hold your son?" asked the doctor, extending his hand in which the baby lay. "A son? Is he a boy?" I insisted, my face contorting into shock. Sofia, who had been sweating behind me, spoke words as the other nurses gazed at her. "Congratulations, it's a boy, Alpha, and I think your heir is born," stated the doctor, who hadn't smiled in years. "Doctor, ah, one never knows what the future holds," I said as he placed the baby in my hands. I embraced the child, his thin bo

Asher povSofia, no matter who I was or wasn't, they are my family, and they require their father," I snarled in anger."Was your throne seat what you threatened that you would do this?" Sofia accused, accusation in her tone. Her hands were being held by nurses surrounding her, trying to console her. "Alpha Asher, I think that's enough," one of them interrupted. "Maybe it's time you went away. She is trying to convince you, let her."I was already furious, but I also knew I needed to overcome my anger. I took a deep breath and didn't let myself get angry."No, I'll be fine here," I replied, my voice firm but calm. "Sofia, I swear to you. Those twins are my own flesh and blood, and I will do whatever is within my power to protect them and their mother."Sofia's face red with rage, but she was too tired to fight again. The medical staff and nurses waiting behind her were inpatient, and one of them came forward."Alpha Asher, please," she pleaded. "Sofia needs to take care of herself and

Asher povIt was raining. I was standing in front of the window, at the window, looking outside, as my heart shuddered to every boom of the rainstorms. I was standing with the twins. I was looking away from outside, at something, to looking at them, and their eyes were distorted in fear. They were afraid of the rain. I breathed as I moved towards them."Hello, children, don't fear. I am here with you," I whispered, stooping down to their level."We want our mummy," responded one of the twins, his voice shaking and pathetic."Don't fear, you will meet your mummy soon, and we will stay together," I said, trying to smile."We don't know you, sir. We want our mummy!" both of them shrieked at the same time."Shut up you two, okay? You're driving me crazy here," I shouted back, banging my head. But shouting didn't appear to be doing any good, for they persisted, but louder. Their din, combined with the anger of the thunderstorm, was tightening the whole atmosphere in the room.Suddenly, and

Aurora povAll my efforts to threaten Asher, to see if he was the one who kidnapped my twins, had been in vain. My patience was fading away, and I needed to find a way to get them back. With each passing day without my twins, my frustration grew.As I dwelled in my misery, my phone rang. I was surprised to hear the voice on the other end. "Hello, Aurora. It's been a while," he said, his voice loud and clear."Yes, it has," my guard replied, coughing after speaking. "Aurora, I heard what happened to you. I know it's been hard for you these past few days," the alpha said, his voice low and sympathetic."Thank you," my guard said, reading the words I wrote on my notepad. "I'm sorry I didn't inform you. I had a lot on my mind.""I understand," the alpha replied. "Who would blame you? I was paid a visit by Alpha Asher. He was the one who told me about the kidnapping of your twins. That was the main reason he came here.""Asher was in your city?" my guard asked, sounding surprised. "And he
