Eventually, they finished the paperwork.

"Ah, finally we're done," Darren said, his voice filled with relief.

"Yes, we are," Lucas yawned in agreement, as we bent his neck trying to crack it. "I'm so tired."

Lucas chuckled and pointed towards Claire, who was asleep on the couch on the other side of the room. "Look, she fell asleep. Little Miss 'I won't sleep.'"

Darren chuckled too, stretching out his arms in fatigue. "Alright, I'll head out now. Goodnight, Lucas."

"Goodnight, Darren," Lucas replied.

Lucas walked over to Claire and gently picked her up, cradling her in his arms. "You are so stubborn," he said, shaking his head with a smile.

Claire, half-asleep, placed her finger on his lips “Shush?".

Lucas wiggled it off, chuckling. "Look at her. She's still talking and being stubborn even in her sleep."

Claire made no reply, her arms slumping, she had fully fallen back asleep. Lucas carried her to her room, tucking her in carefully. He brushed a strand of hair off her forehead and wh
