Chapter 14 Belated Affection

"Are you rendered speechless? Can you only whimper? Should I find someone to assist you?" Arvin spoke with a cold, malicious air.

"I don't know, I... I... I forgot. I genuinely... truly can't recall." Debby trembled, her voice choked with sobs.

Arvin emitted a cold laugh and made a phone call.

His eyes remained devoid of any warmth even when he finished the call.

"Debby, don't let me catch you lying to me. You're on your own from now on," he cautioned.

I awoke to find Debby huddled in a corner, blood trickling from her feet, mingled with ceramic fragments, while Arvin sat on the couch studying the surveillance footage.

Throughout the day of Debby's mall excursion, he meticulously reviewed every moment from morning to night. The more he observed, the more his forehead veins bulged, his hands clenching into tight fists.

Debby had deceived him!

There was no trace of me at the mall, nor had Debby ventured to the third floor, not to mention spotting me in the maternity section.
