Chapter 18 Epilogue

Lately, Arvin had developed a habit of holding onto my old phone and staring at it intently.

He went through all my social media accounts and eventually came across a photo that Debby had posted, which was visible only to me.

Silently, he just held onto the phone tighter.

He started spending long periods staring at the nursery, not eating or speaking throughout the day.

Sometimes, when I was in a good mood, I would wonder, "Could it be that he wants to starve himself to death and join me?"

But of course, I knew that was impossible.

Arvin didn't necessarily love me deeply, nor did he love Debby deeply. He simply felt that he had misjudged people, and it hurt his self-esteem.

Perhaps he was mourning the child who never had a chance to be born?

Regardless, his sorrow wouldn't be for me.

Initially, he confined himself indoors for a day or two, but eventually, he stopped going to the company for one or two months.
