Chapter 20
Five years later Writer's POV An aged woman could be seen seated elegantly in the dimly lit room, a smirk playing on her lips as she watched the young men approach. "Thought you'd completely forgotten about me. I'm kinda shocked seeing you here today," she mocked. "Don't start, Mom. We both know how busy I've been these days," Henry replied, giggling. "Don't give me that story, Henry. We both know that's not the reason you no longer have time for me!" The old lady batted her lids repeatedly like she might break down. "Why are you always fond of making fun of me? You better stop it 'cause it won't work on me this time!" Henry ruffled his hair in frustration. "Tell me, why are you still keeping the baby despite knowing he's your brother's child? He's your enemy, you fool!" Henry chuckled. "Mom, I love Alisha, and I'm willing to do anything for her!" The old lady clenched her fists in anger. "Sometimes I wonder if I was the one who gave birth to you! That dude is your brother's heir! He's the key to him becoming the alpha! Are you just going to stand and watch him take everything we've labored for? Come on, son!" The old lady said, obviously trying to talk sense into him. "I know what I'm doing, Mom. I need to use her to get back to Darien! I know why I'm keeping her!" He added, walking around in circles. "You should know how tricky Darien can be! You shouldn't underestimate him." "He's not as smart as he looks, Mom! Just calm down and let me do things my way!" he half-yelled. "This is the same thing you said the day you got yourself thrown out like a criminal! You told me to let you handle things, and now look exactly where you've landed us! Why can't you just obey me for once?" The old lady fired back angrily. "You now want to blame me? If it's so easy, you could've stayed in the castle! You shouldn't have faked your death just so you could run here and hide from him! You should have fought him, Mom!" The old lady stood from her seat, taking slow steps toward Henry. "I'm still your mom, Henry! You only follow my orders and not the other way around! Don't push me, Henry, don't!" Henry sighed tiredly. "You need to sit back and watch me play this game, Mom. It's all perfectly planned out. I won't disappoint you this time," the old lady shrugged. "Fine! As long as you don't expose our plans, you will have my full support," Henry nodded. *** Alisha's POV "Come back here, Daniel!" I chased after my son, who took my handbag and refused to give it back. "No, Mom! Come get it!" He insisted, running around. Well, it's been five years since I left the alpha's house. I delivered my baby months after I left the pack. I named him Daniel, after my dad. Having Daniel is the best thing that ever happened to me. He grew up to become a replica of Darien, and that's one thing I hated most. Seeing him every day reminds me of him. He finally stopped running, allowing me to catch up with him. I quickly grabbed his hands and forcibly took the bag from him. "Don't act like you caught me. I only let you take the bag because I'm tired of running," he chuckled. This is one thing he admitted from his father: he never admits he's wrong. He's always sharp-tongued. "Whatever! Let's just go home already; it's been four hours already," I complained. "I'm waiting for Dad to come pick me up. Why's he not here?" "I'm here." Henry appeared from behind. "Where have you been, Dad? Mom and I have been waiting for an hour." He ran into Henry's arms. He hugged him tightly, cupping him in his arms. "Sorry, Daddy was busy, but I'm here now. Let's go home," he turned to me. "Hope he didn't stress you too much?" I smiled briefly, nodding my head. ** Grayhound Pack Darien's POV “Five years have passed, yet everything still plays in my head like it happened yesterday. After she left, a seer told me she was the key to getting back my wolf. The seer also told me she was my mate. I blamed myself for not having my wolf intact. I was so useless; I couldn't even recognize her. I didn't value her; instead, I treated her like trash. Now I regret it. I regret every single thing I did to her. I've searched for her everywhere during the past years, but my attempts have turned futile. After she left, I came to realize how attached I've become to her. I miss her. "Sir, Mr. Wren is here to see you," a guard announced. "Let him in." Wren quit being my beta five years earlier like he said. These past years have been so tough and hard for me. First, she left, and then Wren. I feel so empty as it stands. "Good afternoon, Alpha," Wren bowed. He's refused to forgive me after what happened. We are more like an Alpha and his subordinate. That's exactly how he wants it. I tried convincing him to return to being my beta, but he never bought any of it. "We will be celebrating my son's birthday in three days. I came to..." he paused. "Continue!" I ordered and he nodded. "His birthday wish," he ruffled his hair. "He requested your presence as his birthday wish. I've personally come to beg you to help me fulfill his wish." You might be wondering; he found his mate three months after Alisha left. They had their first baby a year later; he's four now, and their second child, who's also a boy, will be turning two in two days. Sometimes I'm jealous of him. I wish I hadn't forced the breeder to leave. "It's fine if you don't want to. I will just find something else," he turned to leave. "I will be there. Consider it a repayment for all you've done for me." He smiled before finally walking out of the room.Chapter 21Writer's POVMr. Alex walked in looking frustrated. His life hasn't been easy since Alisha left; doing the house chores, like cooking and washing, hasn't been easy. Three years ago, he remarried, hoping to get relief from the workload, but things didn't go as expected. At first, the woman tolerated his nonchalant behavior. But at some point, she got pissed off. She's the one doing everything since Mr. Alex is the lazy type. She got tired and left, and since then, he's been single until recently. He got himself another wife. The previous one turned out to be better than the current one, and he's regretting it."And where do you think you are going?" The middle-aged woman blocked his path, preventing him from entering the kitchen."What's the meaning of this nonsense? You better behave yourself, woman! Don't get on my nerves!" He tried pushing her out, but she stood her ground."And what the hell do you think you want to do in the kitchen? Wait? Do you want to go and eat? Oh
Chapter 22"You again? What are you doing here?" Mr. Alex yelled, pointing a finger at me."How dare you yell at the alpha? I'm sorry, my lord, he forced his way in here claiming he's your father-in-law. Please forgive me," the guard in charge of the gate pleaded."It's okay, you can let him in," I turned to face Mr. Alex. "Come in," but he scoffed."Come inside? To do what? Not after what you did to me the other day. You nearly caused me a panic attack! You kept following me like you'd seen me before. Forget about what I came here for. I should get going now," he started walking away.I felt bad hearing him say those words. My father couldn't even recognize me. I'm not wondering why the guards couldn't recognize him. I changed the previous guards because they were all working for my brother."Wait!" I ordered. He slowly turned, his leg shaking. It was obvious he was scared, but why? How come he no longer recognized me? "What do you want?" he asked angrily."Please follow me inside, I
Chapter 23 "Mom, is it true that he's not my dad?" My eyes widened as I looked down to see Daniel standing behind me, his face covered with tears."No, dear. Dad didn't say that. You might have heard wrongly." Henry cupped him in his arms, smiling widely."But I heard you telling Mom that you've been taking care of us. I'm sure that's what I heard," Daniel insisted."You didn't hear right, Daniel. And what were you doing here? How many times have I warned you not to eavesdrop on people's conversations?" I scolded him. I shouldn't give him any chance to suspect anything. I would never let him know about his father."I'm sorry, Mom," he climbed down from Henry's arms."I'm so sorry, Mom. I didn't mean to. I was coming to show you my assignment when I heard Daddy's voice, so I decided to stand by the door and listen to your conversation. Please, Mommy, don't get mad at me," he began crying, getting me more and more confused.I was happy seeing him this way. At least he's not as hard-hea
Chapter 24 Three hours laterI was done with the maid, and she was now sitting at the edge of the bed, panting like a lizard. She didn't faint like the rest, but it was obvious she was exhausted. The next time, she'll surely think twice before thinking of seducing me."Why are you still here? Get up and get out!" I snapped. Seeing her pants only increased my anger and frustration; I wasn't satisfied.I wouldn't have stopped, but she was screaming so hard that she nearly echoed throughout the entire building.I know she's pained she'll get nothing after enduring all the torture she went through. She must have been very stupid to have thought I would give her the chance to carry my unborn child. Joker. She attempted to get up but ended up falling back onto the bed."I'm sorry, my lord, but I can't move my legs; I can't even close them," she shamelessly muttered. She's wrong to have thought I cared or that I would pity her."And how's that my business? You brought yourself in here, reme
Chapter 25 All attention turned to the boy's mother. She bent her face in embarrassment. Who would have thought that her four-year-old kid was eavesdropping on her late conversation with her husband?"Selena! What have you done?" Elena yelled in anger.Selena, the boy's mother, went to her knees immediately."I'm so sorry, my lord. I never mentioned those words to him. I swear I didn't know where he heard it from," Selena pleaded.Darien's head remained bent. Not because he didn't know what to do, but because he felt guilty. The child was right to call him a wicked man."It's fine. I don't blame you. I know each and every one of you has your own opinion about this. I know you are all eager to voice it out but dare not. Hearing him say this reminds me of my past mistakes. It's okay, boy. I like your courage. You can still have the gift," he forced the small box into the boy's hand and then turned to face Wren."You should have told me this was your plan? Bringing me here for your kid
Chapter 26"Do I look like my husband's keeper? Didn't you book an appointment with him before coming? If you know him so well you should have known that he's barely home by this time of the day!" Her voice sounded angry."Calm down ma'am. I only asked a question" I shunned her. There's no way anyone would lie that she doesn't know am the alpha. She's only choosing to be disrespectful to me. But I wasn't gonna take it from her. For the fact that she's replacing my mom, I hated her already."Being the alpha doesn't give you the right to just knock on my door and tell me nonsense. Leave if I am!" She snapped, making me wonder if she was truly okay."Tell him I came looking for him" She hissed. I've never been this tolerant before. But since the breeder left I've noticed I'm no longer as mean as I used to be."If he's of great importance to you then come back and check on him. Don't stress me" she bangs the door in my face. Why's today being mean? Or is this the way the moon goddess has
Chapter 1Alisha's POV"The mateless one!" The words jabbed at my heart like a needle that had been dipped into alcohol. I clenched my clothes, squeezing my chest in the process."Get out, you cursed one, and don't ruin this lively occasion for us!" Someone barked and that was all I needed to hear.I raced outside like a deer that suddenly received a burst of energy. The tears were spilling in massive waves and streaming down my face as I ran. I continued running, even as the tears blurred my vision. I continued running, my heart pounding in my chest. I didn't know where I was running to, I only knew that I needed to get away from the town square and the prying eyes of the people who had watched me break down. I kept running, feeling my blood boil over and over again. I felt an intense hatred towards the moon goddess for making my life so miserable. First I had lost my parents and my best friend, and now I was being tagged mateless for life. I was exhausted and I knew I should sto
Chapter 2Alisha's POVHow did he manage to know my name? What if he was lying? Why would the alpha king be interested in me?"I've told you already that you have the wrong person. You must have mixed up our names. My name is Alisha." I gave them a slight show and started walking away, when he said something that made me stand riveted to a spot."Your stepfather sold you to us." I couldn't believe my ears. My stepfather? Why would he do something like that? I frowned in confusion. "How do you know my stepfather?" I couldn't just believe him so easily. He expelled air from his mouth in frustration as he scratched his head. "Miss Alisha, we really don't have much time here. The alpha king is waiting already. And he hates it when people make him wait. Please, come with us already.""No!" I strongly refused. "I am not going anywhere with you until you tell me what business my stepfather has to do with the alpha king!""Alright, here you go. Your stepfather owes the alpha a lot of money

Chapter 19My mind drifted to Wren. I still don't want to believe he actually betrayed me. No! Wren would never betray me. Never."Quickly go fetch me the beta!" I told the maid, who rushed out immediately.Shortly, Wren walked in wearing a sad expression as usual."Why did you do it, Wren? Why did you betray me?" I could see his expression flicker, but that didn't stop him from chuckling."What do you mean by that?" he asked, pissed by my question."Don't try to play dumb with me, Wren. Why did you let her go?" He glared at me, obviously getting annoyed with my questions, but I wasn't buying any of that. She didn't just escape; someone who knows the castle well enough helped her escape."I don't understand what you mean, Alpha. What have I done this time around?" Is he in the position to ask me that? "Where did you keep her, Wren? Where did you hide the fucking breeder!?" He ruffled his hair tiredly."Are you accusing me of having anything to do with your slave? The last time I chec
Chapter 18"And where do you think you are going?" I froze, turning back to look at who it was.I was shocked to see Alpha's beta. I had expected him to start yelling at me or something, but he remained calm."I... I..." I tried explaining. He walked towards me, smiling. "It's okay, I won't tell anyone I saw you leave." He patted my shoulder gently.Having him say that kind of gladdened my heart, but how sure am I that he won't play games with me?"Why are you doing this?" I asked slowly, and he chuckled."I'm not doing this because I want to. But I'm doing this to free my conscience from guilt. You know I was the one who suggested the Alpha take you in place of his money; he never consented to it. The truth is I forced him into this, and that's why you are going through all this. It's high time I right the wrong," he explained. So bringing me here was all his plan; no wonder the Alpha treated me like nothing."Thank you. I'm so grateful for this. I will surely repay your favor one da
