Chapter 25
All attention turned to the boy's mother. She bent her face in embarrassment. Who would have thought that her four-year-old kid was eavesdropping on her late conversation with her husband? "Selena! What have you done?" Elena yelled in anger. Selena, the boy's mother, went to her knees immediately. "I'm so sorry, my lord. I never mentioned those words to him. I swear I didn't know where he heard it from," Selena pleaded. Darien's head remained bent. Not because he didn't know what to do, but because he felt guilty. The child was right to call him a wicked man. "It's fine. I don't blame you. I know each and every one of you has your own opinion about this. I know you are all eager to voice it out but dare not. Hearing him say this reminds me of my past mistakes. It's okay, boy. I like your courage. You can still have the gift," he forced the small box into the boy's hand and then turned to face Wren. "You should have told me this was your plan? Bringing me here for your kid to insult me? It's fine. I did as promised. I showed a willingness to get embarrassed. I will take my leave now." With that, he stormed out of the hall. Wren faced Aaron, glaring daggers at him. "Are you happy now? You are satisfied, right? You've succeeded in tagging me as the bad father who couldn't even raise his child properly." The boy moved back fearfully. "I'm sorry, Dad. I was only telling the truth. He's a wicked man. Please, Dad, don't beat me," Aaron pleaded, breaking down into tears. "Why are you crying? You should be happy you finally succeeded in ruining things for me. Wipe your stupid tears before I lose them completely!" Wren barked in anger. "I'm so sorry, my lord. It's my fault for not teaching him properly. I never knew this was what he had in mind. I wouldn't have begged you to go talk to the alpha," Elena muttered. "It's all my fault; if I had trained my son properly, he wouldn't have told Aaron what he heard. Please, Mr. Wren, forgive me," Selena insisted on taking the blame. "It's okay. Now isn't the time to be shifting blame. Let's just find a way to calm the alpha down," Wren concluded. "Dad, can I come to hug you? You've forgiven me, right?" Aaron pouted. "No way! I wouldn't dare! Don't come close to me!" Wren snapped in anger, then walked out, leaving the guests behind. "Birthday party went wrong," David rolled his eyes in frustration. "Shut up! It's all your fault!" Selena pinched his mouth. *** Darien's POV As I walked out of the hall, all I felt was anger and embarrassment. So this is what Wren has been feeding his kid all this while. I know he refused to forgive me, but telling his kid about it is way more than I expected. "Welcome, my lord." The silly maid from yesterday hugged me from behind as I tried opening the door. She's overestimating herself, and it's all my fault. "How dare you?" I grabbed her neck, pinning her to the wall. "Please, my lord, I'm so sorry. I... I..." She stammered. "You should have thought twice before deciding to touch me with your filthy hands! I only slept with you yesterday because I thought it would make you stop forcing your ugly self on me. But at this point, I feel you want something else, and that's death. I will do you the favor of fulfilling that wish!" I tightened my grip on her neck. She struggled to breathe, throwing her legs in the air, attempting to free herself. But no! Not with my grip. She was nowhere near my grip. "Please. I swear I won't do it next time. Just don't kill me." I finally let go of her neck. She landed heavily on her butt. "Now get lost and never, ever show your ugly face to me, bitch!" She stood up and ran away, her footsteps fading into the lonely corridor that led to the room. I slowly opened the door and entered. I banged the door and took a seat on the bed tiredly. Why is everyone rubbing my mistakes in my face? First, it's someone who looks like my dad but claims he doesn't recognize me. Why is life treating me this way? An idea crossed my mind: my dad. I think it's high time I go in search of him again. I could remember telling my guard to trace his wolf scent, but the old man turned out to be smarter than I imagined. He didn't leave any clues. I could remember seeing him in the market. This means he stays somewhere around the market. Yes, I must go back there in search of him. I quickly put on my shoes and left again. ** As I walked deeper into the market, I kept looking around, hoping I would see him like the other day. "Please, do you know anyone who bears the name Alex? He's not too tall, nor is he short. He has a mole near his nose. Please, do you know anyone with such features?" I asked the young girl I met, ignoring her seductive attitude. "You mean the stupid old drunkard who usually drinks and then ends up getting beaten by his wife? Yeah, I know where he stays with his wife," the girl stupidly questioned. What? He's remarried? But how come? Or is he not my father? Questions flooded my mind. "Please, can you take me to where he lives?" She pushed up her breasts, almost pushing them out of her bra. "Sure. Follow me." I quickly followed her until we got to a building. "This is where he stays. You can go ahead and knock." She walked away, leaving me stranded and helpless. I slowly knocked on the door, waiting patiently for the lady whose voice I'd heard to come to the door for him. "Where's your husband?" Darien asked the old lady who opened the door.Chapter 26"Do I look like my husband's keeper? Didn't you book an appointment with him before coming? If you know him so well you should have known that he's barely home by this time of the day!" Her voice sounded angry."Calm down ma'am. I only asked a question" I shunned her. There's no way anyone would lie that she doesn't know am the alpha. She's only choosing to be disrespectful to me. But I wasn't gonna take it from her. For the fact that she's replacing my mom, I hated her already."Being the alpha doesn't give you the right to just knock on my door and tell me nonsense. Leave if I am!" She snapped, making me wonder if she was truly okay."Tell him I came looking for him" She hissed. I've never been this tolerant before. But since the breeder left I've noticed I'm no longer as mean as I used to be."If he's of great importance to you then come back and check on him. Don't stress me" she bangs the door in my face. Why's today being mean? Or is this the way the moon goddess has
Chapter 1Alisha's POV"The mateless one!" The words jabbed at my heart like a needle that had been dipped into alcohol. I clenched my clothes, squeezing my chest in the process."Get out, you cursed one, and don't ruin this lively occasion for us!" Someone barked and that was all I needed to hear.I raced outside like a deer that suddenly received a burst of energy. The tears were spilling in massive waves and streaming down my face as I ran. I continued running, even as the tears blurred my vision. I continued running, my heart pounding in my chest. I didn't know where I was running to, I only knew that I needed to get away from the town square and the prying eyes of the people who had watched me break down. I kept running, feeling my blood boil over and over again. I felt an intense hatred towards the moon goddess for making my life so miserable. First I had lost my parents and my best friend, and now I was being tagged mateless for life. I was exhausted and I knew I should sto
Chapter 2Alisha's POVHow did he manage to know my name? What if he was lying? Why would the alpha king be interested in me?"I've told you already that you have the wrong person. You must have mixed up our names. My name is Alisha." I gave them a slight show and started walking away, when he said something that made me stand riveted to a spot."Your stepfather sold you to us." I couldn't believe my ears. My stepfather? Why would he do something like that? I frowned in confusion. "How do you know my stepfather?" I couldn't just believe him so easily. He expelled air from his mouth in frustration as he scratched his head. "Miss Alisha, we really don't have much time here. The alpha king is waiting already. And he hates it when people make him wait. Please, come with us already.""No!" I strongly refused. "I am not going anywhere with you until you tell me what business my stepfather has to do with the alpha king!""Alright, here you go. Your stepfather owes the alpha a lot of money
Chapter 3Alisha's POVI cleared my throat awkwardly, employing my mind for a long search of what to say. My mind had even refused to work properly. Finally, I reckoned I should just greet him and thank him for it earlier."Good afternoon, sir. I was actually----""Who said you could speak!?" He said in a very clipped and cold voice. He doesn't recognize me?I felt a slight chill run down my spine and it became difficult to swallow down my throat. I didn't know I was not expected to greet. I studied his face now and I noticed he looked very different from when I had first seen him.Earlier, even despite the dangerous aura surrounding him, he still had a softness to him. But this new side of his that I was seeing was entirely different. It was terrifying. His eyes were exuding an intense glint of maliciousness. It almost seemed as if he could kill me any moment from now. Both of us didn't speak. He just kept staring at me with disgust written all over his face. I almost forgot to breat
Chapter 4Was it the mate bond he felt? His wolf must have smelt his other half in me.I struggled to speak. "Of course, I'm someone you have met. You saved me earlier in the woods today. That's why I smell familiar." My voice shook as I spoke."Shut your trap!" He yelled. He approached me now and every step he took thundered in my heart. What was he going to do now? I can't let him know he was my mate. I can only imagine what he would do to me if he found out.I quickly stood up and began moving backward until I hit my back against the wall. Now, I was caught between him and the wall. He placed both hands just above my head as he lowered his head towards mine. What was he trying to do?I turned my head to the side, avoiding eye contact with him. My heart was hammering in my ribcage and I felt so suffocated."You, why are you really here!? Who sent you here and why do you have their scent!?" He said through gritted teeth. What the hell was he talking about? Their scent? Whose scent? T
Chapter 5Alisha's POVI trembled in fear at his words. Slash my wrist? Was he really serious? My gaze flickered to his face and I realized that he was dead serious. I didn't even know what these prelims consisted of. What do I do now?I couldn't go back on my words. Either way, He was going to punish me."What are you still waiting for? Get on your feet and start working already!"He sat on the bed and I quickly stood up, trembling like a deer, caught in the headlight. Do I play with his stuff? Was that what the prelim is? Is that how I start? What if I try to do that and he strangles me again?I heard his laughter and my gaze flew to his face. He was amused."Don't tell me little Miss Baby machine doesn't know what the prelim means?"I shook my head. "Why not! I was only getting ready!""You're Alisha, right?" He asked and I nodded."What kind of shitty name is that? Then again, it suits that ugly face of yours!"I let that slide and moved close to him. I placed my hands on his ch
Chapter 6My gaze flickered to his face, and my heart sank when I found no remorse. How will I explain this to him? Doesn't he investigate before making his decisions?'' Guards!'' I heard him call, and blood drained out of my face. What is he going to do to me now? Hang me on a tree, and have my head cut off? Probably, I couldn't agree less.I shivered at the thought of this and decided to speak up. There's no way I'll die for something I had no idea of. As I opened my mouth to speak, the door opened and two men walked in.'' Lock her up in the dungeon, and await my orders!'' he blurted out with a stern face, and the guards quickly grabbed my hands and led me out of the room.I didn't struggle. I couldn't even plead after seeing his hardened face. Whoever framed me must be my worst enemy. I was thrown into the dungeon. I blinked my eyes rapidly, to conceal the tears that were threatening to slip out. I gulped down and leaned on the wall, staring up at the ceiling. Memories flashed
Chapter 7'' Please don't do this.'' I pleaded, but it went on deaf ears. He gnashed his teeth, and I shut my eyes as I waited for the pain to surge through me when he pushed the tool in, but I was shocked when none of that happened.Rather, he groaned, and I felt something placed on me; opening my eyes, I realized he had just covered me up with a blanket.Looking ahead, I saw him striding towards the door, then he pushed it open, and walked back into the room, followed by Beta Wren. He might have knocked, but I didn't hear it due to how frightened I was.'' What brings you, here?'' He asked and sat down on the chair, then picked up a bottle of drink and poured it into the glass.Beta Wren glanced at me, and Darien followed his gaze, and our eyes locked for a moment.'' If you don't mind, my Lord. I'd like us to speak in private.'' Wren replied with a slight bow, and I watched the Alpha lick his bottom lick. He sighed loudly and said in a low tone, '' Lead the way.'' '' Yes my lord.

Chapter 24 Three hours laterI was done with the maid, and she was now sitting at the edge of the bed, panting like a lizard. She didn't faint like the rest, but it was obvious she was exhausted. The next time, she'll surely think twice before thinking of seducing me."Why are you still here? Get up and get out!" I snapped. Seeing her pants only increased my anger and frustration; I wasn't satisfied.I wouldn't have stopped, but she was screaming so hard that she nearly echoed throughout the entire building.I know she's pained she'll get nothing after enduring all the torture she went through. She must have been very stupid to have thought I would give her the chance to carry my unborn child. Joker. She attempted to get up but ended up falling back onto the bed."I'm sorry, my lord, but I can't move my legs; I can't even close them," she shamelessly muttered. She's wrong to have thought I cared or that I would pity her."And how's that my business? You brought yourself in here, reme
Chapter 23 "Mom, is it true that he's not my dad?" My eyes widened as I looked down to see Daniel standing behind me, his face covered with tears."No, dear. Dad didn't say that. You might have heard wrongly." Henry cupped him in his arms, smiling widely."But I heard you telling Mom that you've been taking care of us. I'm sure that's what I heard," Daniel insisted."You didn't hear right, Daniel. And what were you doing here? How many times have I warned you not to eavesdrop on people's conversations?" I scolded him. I shouldn't give him any chance to suspect anything. I would never let him know about his father."I'm sorry, Mom," he climbed down from Henry's arms."I'm so sorry, Mom. I didn't mean to. I was coming to show you my assignment when I heard Daddy's voice, so I decided to stand by the door and listen to your conversation. Please, Mommy, don't get mad at me," he began crying, getting me more and more confused.I was happy seeing him this way. At least he's not as hard-hea
Chapter 22"You again? What are you doing here?" Mr. Alex yelled, pointing a finger at me."How dare you yell at the alpha? I'm sorry, my lord, he forced his way in here claiming he's your father-in-law. Please forgive me," the guard in charge of the gate pleaded."It's okay, you can let him in," I turned to face Mr. Alex. "Come in," but he scoffed."Come inside? To do what? Not after what you did to me the other day. You nearly caused me a panic attack! You kept following me like you'd seen me before. Forget about what I came here for. I should get going now," he started walking away.I felt bad hearing him say those words. My father couldn't even recognize me. I'm not wondering why the guards couldn't recognize him. I changed the previous guards because they were all working for my brother."Wait!" I ordered. He slowly turned, his leg shaking. It was obvious he was scared, but why? How come he no longer recognized me? "What do you want?" he asked angrily."Please follow me inside, I
Chapter 21Writer's POVMr. Alex walked in looking frustrated. His life hasn't been easy since Alisha left; doing the house chores, like cooking and washing, hasn't been easy. Three years ago, he remarried, hoping to get relief from the workload, but things didn't go as expected. At first, the woman tolerated his nonchalant behavior. But at some point, she got pissed off. She's the one doing everything since Mr. Alex is the lazy type. She got tired and left, and since then, he's been single until recently. He got himself another wife. The previous one turned out to be better than the current one, and he's regretting it."And where do you think you are going?" The middle-aged woman blocked his path, preventing him from entering the kitchen."What's the meaning of this nonsense? You better behave yourself, woman! Don't get on my nerves!" He tried pushing her out, but she stood her ground."And what the hell do you think you want to do in the kitchen? Wait? Do you want to go and eat? Oh
Chapter 20Five years laterWriter's POVAn aged woman could be seen seated elegantly in the dimly lit room, a smirk playing on her lips as she watched the young men approach."Thought you'd completely forgotten about me. I'm kinda shocked seeing you here today," she mocked."Don't start, Mom. We both know how busy I've been these days," Henry replied, giggling."Don't give me that story, Henry. We both know that's not the reason you no longer have time for me!" The old lady batted her lids repeatedly like she might break down."Why are you always fond of making fun of me? You better stop it 'cause it won't work on me this time!" Henry ruffled his hair in frustration."Tell me, why are you still keeping the baby despite knowing he's your brother's child? He's your enemy, you fool!" Henry chuckled."Mom, I love Alisha, and I'm willing to do anything for her!" The old lady clenched her fists in anger."Sometimes I wonder if I was the one who gave birth to you! That dude is your brother'
Chapter 19My mind drifted to Wren. I still don't want to believe he actually betrayed me. No! Wren would never betray me. Never."Quickly go fetch me the beta!" I told the maid, who rushed out immediately.Shortly, Wren walked in wearing a sad expression as usual."Why did you do it, Wren? Why did you betray me?" I could see his expression flicker, but that didn't stop him from chuckling."What do you mean by that?" he asked, pissed by my question."Don't try to play dumb with me, Wren. Why did you let her go?" He glared at me, obviously getting annoyed with my questions, but I wasn't buying any of that. She didn't just escape; someone who knows the castle well enough helped her escape."I don't understand what you mean, Alpha. What have I done this time around?" Is he in the position to ask me that? "Where did you keep her, Wren? Where did you hide the fucking breeder!?" He ruffled his hair tiredly."Are you accusing me of having anything to do with your slave? The last time I chec
Chapter 18"And where do you think you are going?" I froze, turning back to look at who it was.I was shocked to see Alpha's beta. I had expected him to start yelling at me or something, but he remained calm."I... I..." I tried explaining. He walked towards me, smiling. "It's okay, I won't tell anyone I saw you leave." He patted my shoulder gently.Having him say that kind of gladdened my heart, but how sure am I that he won't play games with me?"Why are you doing this?" I asked slowly, and he chuckled."I'm not doing this because I want to. But I'm doing this to free my conscience from guilt. You know I was the one who suggested the Alpha take you in place of his money; he never consented to it. The truth is I forced him into this, and that's why you are going through all this. It's high time I right the wrong," he explained. So bringing me here was all his plan; no wonder the Alpha treated me like nothing."Thank you. I'm so grateful for this. I will surely repay your favor one da
