Chapter 24

Three hours later

I was done with the maid, and she was now sitting at the edge of the bed, panting like a lizard. She didn't faint like the rest, but it was obvious she was exhausted. The next time, she'll surely think twice before thinking of seducing me.

"Why are you still here? Get up and get out!" I snapped. Seeing her pants only increased my anger and frustration; I wasn't satisfied.

I wouldn't have stopped, but she was screaming so hard that she nearly echoed throughout the entire building.

I know she's pained she'll get nothing after enduring all the torture she went through. She must have been very stupid to have thought I would give her the chance to carry my unborn child. Joker.

She attempted to get up but ended up falling back onto the bed.

"I'm sorry, my lord, but I can't move my legs; I can't even close them," she shamelessly muttered. She's wrong to have thought I cared or that I would pity her.

"And how's that my business? You brought yourself in here, remember? I didn't call for you, so why should I be the one to send you out?" I asked angrily.

"I'm so sorry, my lord; I didn't mean it that way. I will take my leave now." She stood up and began dragging her feet out.

"Hey!" I called, and she turned almost immediately, probably thinking I'd changed my mind about throwing her out in the middle of the night.

I can't imagine being nice to any woman after everything I did to Alisha. They all deserve to suffer like she suffered. I just hope I find her sooner and apologize; who knows, she might forgive me and decide to give me a second chance.

"Yes, my lord," her mood lightened.

"Hold on." I stood up, approaching her. I could see her legs trembling. But that's none of my business.

I walked past her to my locker, opened it, and then threw a bundle of money at her. She smiled happily, then mumbled, "Thank you, my lord," before leaving the room.

I sighed tiredly, feeling empty once again. I thought having a maid would make me feel better or something, but truth be told, I feel worse than ever.

If only I hadn't treated her wrongly. I wish I had cherished her the way she did despite my behavior towards her. I regret telling Wren I would sell her out. At least she would have still been here, and I would have gotten my wolf back. I feel so tired and frustrated.

Tomorrow I will be attending Wren's party since his kids demanded my presence as his birthday wish. I have a bad feeling about this whole thing, but I don't want to disappoint Wren, at least for the friendship we once shared.

I slumped onto the bed, forcing my eyes closed even though I knew I wasn't going to get a good sleep.

Next morning

I checked myself in the mirror once again, adjusting my suit. It's so rare to see me dressed this way on a normal occasion. I only dress this way if I'm attending any alpha get-together. Other than that, I no longer dress to impress.

"The car is ready, my lord," the guard said from the door.

I picked up my phone and then stormed out of the room.

"Good morning, Alpha," everyone stood. Why did he choose to make it an early morning party?

I smiled briefly, gesturing for them to sit, and they did.

Elena, Wren's wife, showed up soon with the first boy, then Wren and the celebrant.

The party commenced.

Writer's POV:

Aaron, Wren's first son, or rather the celebrant, kept glaring daggers at Darien, making him feel uncomfortable. Seeing a child act this way towards him was annoying, and some of the guests had noticed his behavior towards the alpha and they all wondered what was up with the kid.

"Didn't he request to see the alpha as his birthday wish?" A lady whispered to her husband.

"I also feel something is creepy. I know this kid is up to no good. Let's just wait and see what he's got up his sleeve," the husband concluded.

After cutting the cake, he was made to go greet the alpha for honoring his invitation to his parents, who had no idea of what he was up to.

"Good evening, sir," Aaron greeted.

"How are you feeling today? Hope you are happy. It's good to see you smile this way. Happy birthday!" Darien smiled at the kid. It was obvious he was happy. He wished the kid was his, but that was never going to be possible. He cannot eat his cake and have it.

Darien dipped his hands into his pocket, bringing out a small box. He handed it to the kid, who rejected it to the surprise of everyone.

"Come on, boy, you can have it. It's your birthday present," Darien, who chose to ignore his initial attitude, tried giving it to him a second time, but he moved back, glaring daggers at Darien.

"I'm not going to take it!" he half-yelled.

"Why, sweetheart? Didn't you ask to see the alpha on your birthday? He's here, sweetie. He even bought you a gift. Take it and thank him," Elena, Wren's wife, told her kid, who still refused to accept the gift. Darien, who was already feeling embarrassed, arched his brow.

"No, Mom! I only asked for him so I could see him in person. David has been telling me how mean he treated his breeder. I don't like him. I just want to tell him he's wicked and doesn't deserve to be loved since David couldn't say it to his face." Darien clenched his fist in embarrassment, his face facing the floor. It felt like the ground should open up and swallow him.

All attention turned to the little David sitting beside his mom.

"David, dear. Where did you hear that from?" his mom questioned.

"I heard you and Dad discussing it the other night, so I told Aaron about it. I didn't expect him to tell everyone about it." Darien clenched his fist angrily, diverting his gaze to David's mom.
