Chapter 28
"What did you just say?" Henry's eyes flared up in anger. "I just told you the truth, Sir Henry! I heard everything you told my mom that day. You don't love me, so stop pretending!" Daniel blurted out. "Wow! Such a brilliant kid. I'm happy you know it. Now that you know it, avoid me! I'm not your father and will never be. Even if I succeed in marrying your mom, I'm going to make sure I throw you away. Like, dump you in the trash can!" Henry jibbered, giggling. "I know all your plans. I will tell my mommy about it, just wait and watch!" Daniel blurted. "We'll see about that, kiddo!" Henry smirked. "What's going on here?" Alisha showed up from behind. "Mommy, he was telling me that he..." Henry cut him off. "We were only having a man-to-man discussion. It's nothing important. Daniel, isn't it?" Henry faked a smile. Daniel nodded while glaring hatefully at him. "Be a good boy, Daniel. Don't tell mummy what we discussed; Mummy does not need to know everything that happens, okay?" Daniel nodded. Alisha's POV: Immediately I walked in, Henry stopped what he was saying. He kept telling my boy to be a good boy. I could tell something was wrong. Why was he telling my son not to tell me what he told him? I watched as he walked into the room, and then I took Daniel by the hands, taking him to his room. I helped him change into his nightwear after assisting him with his bath. He jumped into the bed and then lay on my chest. "Tell me, Mom, do you love Uncle Henry?" My eyes widened at his question. "Uncle Henry?" "Don't lie to me, Mom. I know he's not your husband, neither is he my dad. Stop lying to me, Mom. I'm no longer a kid," his voice sounded pitiful yet serious. "How did you know? Tell me, what did he say to you?" I asked. "Don't ignore my questions, Mom. Tell me, do you have feelings for Uncle?" "No, I don't. He's like a friend to me. Now tell me, since when did you find out he's not your dad? Don't lie to me." "Well, for over a year now. I found out on my third birthday. I was standing at the door when he was confessing his love for you. I heard him say he'd accept me as his, even though I wasn't his. I just played along all this while. You know, before I found out, I also suspected I was not his son with the way he treats me. He's only nice to me whenever you are around. Please, Mom, promise me you'll never reciprocate his feelings. I'm not telling you to go back to my wicked dad. You can choose someone else other than him. Please, Mom." This is the first time he'd be saying such a thing to me. I'm still trying hard to figure out what he told him that would make him say such a thing to me. "It's okay, dear. I don't and will never love him. I've told you before that I don't love him, and I still stick to that. Relax, okay? I ruffled his hair fondly. "I love you, baby. Have that in mind." I kissed his forehead. "I love you too, Mommy. More than you can imagine," he hugged me, curling himself into my chest. When I was sure that he was asleep, I gently laid him on the bed and then got up. *** I knocked on the door for the second time. "I'm here," Henry opened the door. "Alisha? You are here? Come inside," he opened the door wide, gesturing me to come in, but I refused by simply shaking my head. The last time I went into his room, I knew what happened. He nearly raped me. Thank goodness I was smart enough to know what his next move would be. I wasn't going to take any chances. Not again. "No. I'm fine standing outside." "If you say so. Tell me, why did you knock on my door at this time of the night?" "I know how you feel, Henry. But please don't treat my son like trash. Tell me if you are tired of us. We'll gladly leave." I could see him narrow his brow in confusion. "What do you mean, Alisha? Have I offended you?" He blinked innocently. His pretense no longer works on me. After what he said to me the other day, I no longer regard him like I used to. It's obvious he's pained about my son being Darien's. But is it my fault? I'm also a victim like him. That's if he'd truly considered himself a victim. "No, you have not. But my son. Remember you told me you'd accept me into your home regardless of me being pregnant? Don't change now, Henry. My son is innocent, Henry; he's not like his father. Don't vent out your anger on the poor boy; he's innocent." "Why are you suddenly bringing this up, Alisha? You know I've always seen him as my kid. Tell me, what did he tell you?" "He didn't say a word to me, Henry. I'm not a kid. I know when someone is not comfortable around another. Since you found out he's your brother's kid, you've changed completely. I only kept quiet the other day because we weren't at home. I'm not a kid, I repeat. I told you from day one everything that happened between your brother and me, and you still chose to accept me. Why are you suddenly acting all shocked when you've known everything from day one? What exactly is your plan, Henry?" I could see the shock on his face. He should be. I know he's always thought I had no idea of what he's been doing. Just like my kid, I've been playing along all this while. "So you knew yet you acted like you didn't. Why are you treating me this way, Alisha? Is it a crime to love someone? All I've ever done was love you, but what did I get in return? I don't deserve this, Alisha; I don't!" "I've told you this countless times, and I'm repeating it. I don't love you, Henry, and I will never love you!" I blurted then stormed out.Chapter 1Alisha's POV"The mateless one!" The words jabbed at my heart like a needle that had been dipped into alcohol. I clenched my clothes, squeezing my chest in the process."Get out, you cursed one, and don't ruin this lively occasion for us!" Someone barked and that was all I needed to hear.I raced outside like a deer that suddenly received a burst of energy. The tears were spilling in massive waves and streaming down my face as I ran. I continued running, even as the tears blurred my vision. I continued running, my heart pounding in my chest. I didn't know where I was running to, I only knew that I needed to get away from the town square and the prying eyes of the people who had watched me break down. I kept running, feeling my blood boil over and over again. I felt an intense hatred towards the moon goddess for making my life so miserable. First I had lost my parents and my best friend, and now I was being tagged mateless for life. I was exhausted and I knew I should sto
Chapter 2Alisha's POVHow did he manage to know my name? What if he was lying? Why would the alpha king be interested in me?"I've told you already that you have the wrong person. You must have mixed up our names. My name is Alisha." I gave them a slight show and started walking away, when he said something that made me stand riveted to a spot."Your stepfather sold you to us." I couldn't believe my ears. My stepfather? Why would he do something like that? I frowned in confusion. "How do you know my stepfather?" I couldn't just believe him so easily. He expelled air from his mouth in frustration as he scratched his head. "Miss Alisha, we really don't have much time here. The alpha king is waiting already. And he hates it when people make him wait. Please, come with us already.""No!" I strongly refused. "I am not going anywhere with you until you tell me what business my stepfather has to do with the alpha king!""Alright, here you go. Your stepfather owes the alpha a lot of money
Chapter 3Alisha's POVI cleared my throat awkwardly, employing my mind for a long search of what to say. My mind had even refused to work properly. Finally, I reckoned I should just greet him and thank him for it earlier."Good afternoon, sir. I was actually----""Who said you could speak!?" He said in a very clipped and cold voice. He doesn't recognize me?I felt a slight chill run down my spine and it became difficult to swallow down my throat. I didn't know I was not expected to greet. I studied his face now and I noticed he looked very different from when I had first seen him.Earlier, even despite the dangerous aura surrounding him, he still had a softness to him. But this new side of his that I was seeing was entirely different. It was terrifying. His eyes were exuding an intense glint of maliciousness. It almost seemed as if he could kill me any moment from now. Both of us didn't speak. He just kept staring at me with disgust written all over his face. I almost forgot to breat
Chapter 4Was it the mate bond he felt? His wolf must have smelt his other half in me.I struggled to speak. "Of course, I'm someone you have met. You saved me earlier in the woods today. That's why I smell familiar." My voice shook as I spoke."Shut your trap!" He yelled. He approached me now and every step he took thundered in my heart. What was he going to do now? I can't let him know he was my mate. I can only imagine what he would do to me if he found out.I quickly stood up and began moving backward until I hit my back against the wall. Now, I was caught between him and the wall. He placed both hands just above my head as he lowered his head towards mine. What was he trying to do?I turned my head to the side, avoiding eye contact with him. My heart was hammering in my ribcage and I felt so suffocated."You, why are you really here!? Who sent you here and why do you have their scent!?" He said through gritted teeth. What the hell was he talking about? Their scent? Whose scent? T
Chapter 5Alisha's POVI trembled in fear at his words. Slash my wrist? Was he really serious? My gaze flickered to his face and I realized that he was dead serious. I didn't even know what these prelims consisted of. What do I do now?I couldn't go back on my words. Either way, He was going to punish me."What are you still waiting for? Get on your feet and start working already!"He sat on the bed and I quickly stood up, trembling like a deer, caught in the headlight. Do I play with his stuff? Was that what the prelim is? Is that how I start? What if I try to do that and he strangles me again?I heard his laughter and my gaze flew to his face. He was amused."Don't tell me little Miss Baby machine doesn't know what the prelim means?"I shook my head. "Why not! I was only getting ready!""You're Alisha, right?" He asked and I nodded."What kind of shitty name is that? Then again, it suits that ugly face of yours!"I let that slide and moved close to him. I placed my hands on his ch
Chapter 6My gaze flickered to his face, and my heart sank when I found no remorse. How will I explain this to him? Doesn't he investigate before making his decisions?'' Guards!'' I heard him call, and blood drained out of my face. What is he going to do to me now? Hang me on a tree, and have my head cut off? Probably, I couldn't agree less.I shivered at the thought of this and decided to speak up. There's no way I'll die for something I had no idea of. As I opened my mouth to speak, the door opened and two men walked in.'' Lock her up in the dungeon, and await my orders!'' he blurted out with a stern face, and the guards quickly grabbed my hands and led me out of the room.I didn't struggle. I couldn't even plead after seeing his hardened face. Whoever framed me must be my worst enemy. I was thrown into the dungeon. I blinked my eyes rapidly, to conceal the tears that were threatening to slip out. I gulped down and leaned on the wall, staring up at the ceiling. Memories flashed
Chapter 7'' Please don't do this.'' I pleaded, but it went on deaf ears. He gnashed his teeth, and I shut my eyes as I waited for the pain to surge through me when he pushed the tool in, but I was shocked when none of that happened.Rather, he groaned, and I felt something placed on me; opening my eyes, I realized he had just covered me up with a blanket.Looking ahead, I saw him striding towards the door, then he pushed it open, and walked back into the room, followed by Beta Wren. He might have knocked, but I didn't hear it due to how frightened I was.'' What brings you, here?'' He asked and sat down on the chair, then picked up a bottle of drink and poured it into the glass.Beta Wren glanced at me, and Darien followed his gaze, and our eyes locked for a moment.'' If you don't mind, my Lord. I'd like us to speak in private.'' Wren replied with a slight bow, and I watched the Alpha lick his bottom lick. He sighed loudly and said in a low tone, '' Lead the way.'' '' Yes my lord.
CHAPTER 8I pushed the door open and stormed out of the room, my anger boiling over. I couldn't believe it. She left without my permission. My heart tightened, and I clenched my fists as I walked down the hall.'' Wren! Wren!'' I roared as I glanced around, searching for her, but she was not in sight. The guards bowed their heads as I passed, but I paid no attention to them."Wren!" I called one last time, and he appeared almost immediately, breathing heavily. "My Lord," he said, bowing his head."Have you seen Alisha?" I asked, locking my gaze on his face. "No, my lord," he replied. "The last time I saw her, she was in your chambers," he added, and I bit my lip, running my fingers through my hair in frustration."Are you telling me she escaped without you noticing?" I questioned, and he took a step back, his voice shaky."Y-yes, my Lord. But we will find her! Please don’t punish us," he pleaded. I turned away with a loud sigh, placing my hands on my hips.I could picture her laughing
Chapter 28"What did you just say?" Henry's eyes flared up in anger."I just told you the truth, Sir Henry! I heard everything you told my mom that day. You don't love me, so stop pretending!" Daniel blurted out."Wow! Such a brilliant kid. I'm happy you know it. Now that you know it, avoid me! I'm not your father and will never be. Even if I succeed in marrying your mom, I'm going to make sure I throw you away. Like, dump you in the trash can!" Henry jibbered, giggling."I know all your plans. I will tell my mommy about it, just wait and watch!" Daniel blurted."We'll see about that, kiddo!" Henry smirked."What's going on here?" Alisha showed up from behind."Mommy, he was telling me that he..." Henry cut him off. "We were only having a man-to-man discussion. It's nothing important. Daniel, isn't it?" Henry faked a smile.Daniel nodded while glaring hatefully at him."Be a good boy, Daniel. Don't tell mummy what we discussed; Mummy does not need to know everything that happens, okay
Chapter 27My eyes widened at the silly question. How in God's name do I defend myself at this point?"And who told you he's not my son? Wait, you again?" Henry appeared behind me. Seeing him gave me relief."You? Hmm. I didn't mean to embarrass her. I was only playing with her," Sonia panicked."I've warned you several times, Sonia. Don't push me to tell them your own story. You know you'll spend the rest of your life in jail. Don't make me do something I'll regret afterward," Henry threatened, getting me confused. What's this secret he knows about her that would ruin her if he dared say a word?"I'm sorry, Henry. I didn't mean to bully her." I glared daggers at her. "Don't use the word bully. You are in no position to bully me!" I snapped angrily."Now apologize!" Henry ordered. She quickly went to her knees, shocking everyone."I'm so sorry, Alisha. I didn't mean to act that way towards you." She faked a sad face, which I knew she didn't mean anything she was saying now. She's only
Chapter 26"Do I look like my husband's keeper? Didn't you book an appointment with him before coming? If you know him so well you should have known that he's barely home by this time of the day!" Her voice sounded angry."Calm down ma'am. I only asked a question" I shunned her. There's no way anyone would lie that she doesn't know am the alpha. She's only choosing to be disrespectful to me. But I wasn't gonna take it from her. For the fact that she's replacing my mom, I hated her already."Being the alpha doesn't give you the right to just knock on my door and tell me nonsense. Leave if I am!" She snapped, making me wonder if she was truly okay."Tell him I came looking for him" She hissed. I've never been this tolerant before. But since the breeder left I've noticed I'm no longer as mean as I used to be."If he's of great importance to you then come back and check on him. Don't stress me" she bangs the door in my face. Why's today being mean? Or is this the way the moon goddess has
Chapter 25 All attention turned to the boy's mother. She bent her face in embarrassment. Who would have thought that her four-year-old kid was eavesdropping on her late conversation with her husband?"Selena! What have you done?" Elena yelled in anger.Selena, the boy's mother, went to her knees immediately."I'm so sorry, my lord. I never mentioned those words to him. I swear I didn't know where he heard it from," Selena pleaded.Darien's head remained bent. Not because he didn't know what to do, but because he felt guilty. The child was right to call him a wicked man."It's fine. I don't blame you. I know each and every one of you has your own opinion about this. I know you are all eager to voice it out but dare not. Hearing him say this reminds me of my past mistakes. It's okay, boy. I like your courage. You can still have the gift," he forced the small box into the boy's hand and then turned to face Wren."You should have told me this was your plan? Bringing me here for your kid
Chapter 24 Three hours laterI was done with the maid, and she was now sitting at the edge of the bed, panting like a lizard. She didn't faint like the rest, but it was obvious she was exhausted. The next time, she'll surely think twice before thinking of seducing me."Why are you still here? Get up and get out!" I snapped. Seeing her pants only increased my anger and frustration; I wasn't satisfied.I wouldn't have stopped, but she was screaming so hard that she nearly echoed throughout the entire building.I know she's pained she'll get nothing after enduring all the torture she went through. She must have been very stupid to have thought I would give her the chance to carry my unborn child. Joker. She attempted to get up but ended up falling back onto the bed."I'm sorry, my lord, but I can't move my legs; I can't even close them," she shamelessly muttered. She's wrong to have thought I cared or that I would pity her."And how's that my business? You brought yourself in here, reme
Chapter 23 "Mom, is it true that he's not my dad?" My eyes widened as I looked down to see Daniel standing behind me, his face covered with tears."No, dear. Dad didn't say that. You might have heard wrongly." Henry cupped him in his arms, smiling widely."But I heard you telling Mom that you've been taking care of us. I'm sure that's what I heard," Daniel insisted."You didn't hear right, Daniel. And what were you doing here? How many times have I warned you not to eavesdrop on people's conversations?" I scolded him. I shouldn't give him any chance to suspect anything. I would never let him know about his father."I'm sorry, Mom," he climbed down from Henry's arms."I'm so sorry, Mom. I didn't mean to. I was coming to show you my assignment when I heard Daddy's voice, so I decided to stand by the door and listen to your conversation. Please, Mommy, don't get mad at me," he began crying, getting me more and more confused.I was happy seeing him this way. At least he's not as hard-hea
Chapter 22"You again? What are you doing here?" Mr. Alex yelled, pointing a finger at me."How dare you yell at the alpha? I'm sorry, my lord, he forced his way in here claiming he's your father-in-law. Please forgive me," the guard in charge of the gate pleaded."It's okay, you can let him in," I turned to face Mr. Alex. "Come in," but he scoffed."Come inside? To do what? Not after what you did to me the other day. You nearly caused me a panic attack! You kept following me like you'd seen me before. Forget about what I came here for. I should get going now," he started walking away.I felt bad hearing him say those words. My father couldn't even recognize me. I'm not wondering why the guards couldn't recognize him. I changed the previous guards because they were all working for my brother."Wait!" I ordered. He slowly turned, his leg shaking. It was obvious he was scared, but why? How come he no longer recognized me? "What do you want?" he asked angrily."Please follow me inside, I
Chapter 21Writer's POVMr. Alex walked in looking frustrated. His life hasn't been easy since Alisha left; doing the house chores, like cooking and washing, hasn't been easy. Three years ago, he remarried, hoping to get relief from the workload, but things didn't go as expected. At first, the woman tolerated his nonchalant behavior. But at some point, she got pissed off. She's the one doing everything since Mr. Alex is the lazy type. She got tired and left, and since then, he's been single until recently. He got himself another wife. The previous one turned out to be better than the current one, and he's regretting it."And where do you think you are going?" The middle-aged woman blocked his path, preventing him from entering the kitchen."What's the meaning of this nonsense? You better behave yourself, woman! Don't get on my nerves!" He tried pushing her out, but she stood her ground."And what the hell do you think you want to do in the kitchen? Wait? Do you want to go and eat? Oh
Chapter 20Five years laterWriter's POVAn aged woman could be seen seated elegantly in the dimly lit room, a smirk playing on her lips as she watched the young men approach."Thought you'd completely forgotten about me. I'm kinda shocked seeing you here today," she mocked."Don't start, Mom. We both know how busy I've been these days," Henry replied, giggling."Don't give me that story, Henry. We both know that's not the reason you no longer have time for me!" The old lady batted her lids repeatedly like she might break down."Why are you always fond of making fun of me? You better stop it 'cause it won't work on me this time!" Henry ruffled his hair in frustration."Tell me, why are you still keeping the baby despite knowing he's your brother's child? He's your enemy, you fool!" Henry chuckled."Mom, I love Alisha, and I'm willing to do anything for her!" The old lady clenched her fists in anger."Sometimes I wonder if I was the one who gave birth to you! That dude is your brother'
