Chapter 19

My mind drifted to Wren. I still don't want to believe he actually betrayed me. No! Wren would never betray me. Never.

"Quickly go fetch me the beta!" I told the maid, who rushed out immediately.

Shortly, Wren walked in wearing a sad expression as usual.

"Why did you do it, Wren? Why did you betray me?" I could see his expression flicker, but that didn't stop him from chuckling.

"What do you mean by that?" he asked, pissed by my question.

"Don't try to play dumb with me, Wren. Why did you let her go?" He glared at me, obviously getting annoyed with my questions, but I wasn't buying any of that. She didn't just escape; someone who knows the castle well enough helped her escape.

"I don't understand what you mean, Alpha. What have I done this time around?" Is he in the position to ask me that?

"Where did you keep her, Wren? Where did you hide the fucking breeder!?" He ruffled his hair tiredly.

"Are you accusing me of having anything to do with your slave? The last time I checked, I had no business or whatever with her. In short, I haven't seen her for days now. Suspecting me is fine, but accusing me is something I won't accept!" He flared up angrily.

I can see I have been too easy and kind to him, and he no longer sees me as the Alpha. I think it's high time I put him in his place.

"Don't use that tone on me, Wren! I'm still the alpha regardless, so I still deserve some respect from you!" I snapped, and then he smiled.

"Investigate this, Alpha," he paused, then smirked, "and if I turn out to be innocent, I will resign from being your beta!" His words pierced through my heart like a dagger.

"What? I never said you should quit," I muttered. First, it's the breeder leaving, and now Wren leaving. What did I do to deserve all this?

"I'm tired, Darien! What have I not done as a friend for you? All I ever wanted was for you to treat me like a friend, but what did I get in return? Hate! And constant nagging. I'm not your slave, Darien! I'm your beta. I'm fed up, Darien! I'm sorry it had to happen this way, but it's for the best. I think you need space to put yourself together! I'm sorry." With that being said, he rushed out of the room, leaving me in deep shock.

"Guard!" I yelled, and about five guards rushed in, going on their knees immediately.

"Find me the breeder! Find her! She's mine and mine alone! She has no right to escape. Not when she's with my heir. Find her! Make sure you don't return until you find her!" I clenched my fist in anger.

"Yes, Alpha!" They all responded in unison.

"Why are you still here? Get out!!" They all rushed out.

Alisha is mine and mine alone! I will find her no matter where she hides.

And Wren, he's definitely joking. There's no way I will let him leave me in the middle of nowhere. He's a joker.

Alisha's POV

"I'm sorry you had to suffer all this humiliation," Henry smiled at me.

When I woke up earlier, I came to realize he's Henry, the guy who rescued me years ago. The man who gave me the necklace the devil took.

Though I didn't tell him the man who bought me is his brother. I could remember the old lady telling me how he was banished. I don't want him to know I'm carrying his enemy's child. I'm scared he will get angry and throw me out.

"It's okay. It's all in the past now! I don't want to remember any of it," I shrugged.

"Tell me, who was the man?" he asked.

"Well, he's the..." Our discussion was interrupted by a guard.

"Boss, they are here," the informant announced. He stood up and followed the guard. I sighed in relief as I watched him leave with the guard.

I told him about my pregnancy, and he promised to take care of me until I delivered the baby.

Nine months later

"Here, finish the food. Remember what the doctor told you. You have to force yourself to eat this for the sake of the baby," Henry lectured, forcing the strawberry into my mouth.

Well, the past nine months have been hectic for me. I no longer look as sexy as before. The pregnancy turned me into something else. I used to be a lover of strawberries, but recently I've come to hate them. I now look fat, and I hate it. I'm lucky to have met Henry. He's been very nice to me, for the fact that he accepted me even though I'm carrying another man's child. My wolf still yearns for Darien, but with Henry around, my wolf hasn't been disturbing me much. I have been trying so hard to forget him, but no matter how hard I try, I can't seem to get him off my mind.

"I'm tired, Henry. I've been eating them for the past thirty minutes," I pouted my lips, hoping he would give up, and luckily he dropped the spoon.

"Come on... let's give your legs some massage," he made me place my legs on his lap while he massaged my legs.

"The doctor said you'll be in labor," he reminded me.

Three days ago, the doctor told me I would be due for labor any time soon. And since then,

Henry won't let me leave his sight.

I tried getting up, but a sudden pain in my waist pulled me back to the chair.

"Are you okay?" Henry asked, holding onto me to prevent me from falling.

"I'm not fine, I think I—" I shuttered, the pain worsening as I tried to say something.

"You think what?" Henry panicked.

"I think my water just broke," I shouted, holding onto my waist.
