Lily
I shouldn’t care about his true reason for coming here, and if he’s truly looking for someone, I should just hope I wouldn’t cross paths with him again.
Pulling a monoblock chair with me, I placed it in the little corner beside the restroom to eat my lunch. I usually spent my lunch break here, just so my coworker would leave me alone.
I was quietly eating when a sudden cold water that dripped down my face, jolted me awake.
“What now, Sarah?!” I couldn’t help but to rose my voice in frustration.
“Oops! I’m sorry,” she snickered before splattering the remaining water on my face.
Letting out a deep sigh, I gathered my things and stood up to simply leave her while I still had patience left with me. But as soon as I stepped away, her hands clutched my wrist, pulling me back to face her.
“Where do you think you’re going? There’s a customer outside you need to serve.”
“It’s my lunch break, Sarah. You were supposed to serve those customers outside,” I quickly responded, drawing my wrist back.
“Oh, so you’re fighting back now, huh?”
I was ready to ignore her words and just left when I felt a sudden tug on my hair, making me wince in pain.
She forcibly pulled me back, pinning my face to the wall.
“Don’t you ever respond to me that way again. I am one call away to tell our manager to fire you and you’d be gone in an instant.”
“Do you understand?!”
I hastily nodded, afraid that I might annoy her even more.
My face crumpled in pain when she tugged me with her hand on my hair and pushed me out of the break room, making me fly on the ground with my hands in a tight clench.
Though how badly I wanted to snap back at them several times, I still chose to control myself as I knew Aiden would for sure be in trouble if I ever messed up, and I didn’t want to cause him any more of that. Him bringing us into this Pack is already a huge debt. I shouldn’t do something that’ll put the Pack in a situation where they’d have to kick us out because where would Evan and Zoey end up if that happens?
After my shifts ended for that day, I decided to walk back home as I knew Aiden would be extremely busy with the meeting for other Pack councils.
Upon reaching a meter outside our home, my brows formed into a straight line seeing our belongings outside while some men were still in the process of bringing them out.
I rushed inside and found Evan and Zoey standing right in front of the door, teary-eyed.
“Mom! Our things!” Zoey turned to me, wrapping her tiny arms around my waist.
“Is Alpha kicking us out?”
“No, no, Evan. Alpha wouldn’t do that.” I caress Zoey’s back.
Even I, myself didn’t know what was happening, but I knew one thing for sure, Alpha wouldn’t kick us out with no reason.
“Stay here with your sister, okay? I’ll fix this.”
Proceeding inside, more men were present. Almost all of our things were already outside with only small stuff left inside.
“What’s happening here? Why are you taking out our things?” I continuously questioned, trying to stop them, but I got no response, making me even more confused.
“Please, answer me! Why are you taking out our things?”
I was just about to follow one man when a footstep appeared.
“Lily, it’s a good thing that you’re here,” Hans, the Beta spoke from behind.
I immediately faced him. “Why? What’s happening?”
“You probably know that Alpha Wade Johnson from North is coming here, right? And since there are no other vacant houses in the Pack for him, I think of letting him stay here instead.”
“But why here? Shouldn’t an Alpha like him stay somewhere nicer than this small hut? I mean he could stay at the Packhouse instead.”
“Lily, do you even know the reason why he’s here?” He folds his arm, crossing it against his chest. “And we want to show him who truly rules this place.”
Hans' wrinkled face confirmed my suspicion. Our Pack doesn’t seem to be pleased with Wade’s presence here.
“For whatever reason that is, Beta Hans. I’m sure you can find other places he could stay at,” I replied, stepping forward to beg him. “We don’t have—”
“I’m sorry to break it to you, but he’s gonna stay here whatever you say,” he spat, shaking his head.
“Then where are we going to stay?!” my voice rose from the frustration I was holding since before.
Hans’ eyes squinted before his lips formed into a smirk. “Are you forgetting that you’re an outsider from our Pack anyway? You’re not an official member, just to remind you.”
I was caught off guard, being unable to respond right away. He bitterly chuckled before turning his back on me to leave.
He was right, but I did everything to deserve a place here in the Pack. Everything.
My eyes started to produce hot tears, attempting to fall down by any minute. I lifted my head to stop them from doing so, before taking a deep breath. “Does Aiden know about this?” I asked.
Though I knew using Aiden in this situation wasn’t a good idea. But this was my last resort because I was sure he wouldn’t let this happen to us.
He’s the only person I could hold onto.
Hans walked back to my place. “Why? What are you gonna do?” he began, raising his right eyebrow as if he was challenging me.
“Cry at him as if you’re a bullied kid like you always do so he will do everything to change Alpha’s mind and get things to work your way?” he scoffed.
His words were like a trigger to my anger that pushed me to my limits.
“Well, where do you think we are going to stay?! I wouldn’t mind any of these if I were all by myself. But I have two children with me, Beta. You’ve got to understand!”
And it even made me angry knowing I’ve tried to endure everything and not tell Aiden a thing about worse things that’s happening to me because I’m afraid anyone would think of me like this.
Hans stared at me blankly as I yelled worriedly, while he did not seem to care about understanding my point when a stone-cold baritone echoed from behind, stopping any of my future words.
“Is here where I would be staying?”
I couldn’t be mistaken about this exact same voice I used to love hearing.
My feet were stuck in their place with realization hitting me.
At this time, I’m afraid I wouldn’t have any option of walking away from him.
LilyI kept my back on him with my eyes pinned on the ground. Tons of emotions rushed through me and even so, I was wolfless, I am certain it was Wade. My feet were stuck, afraid to make any movements that would allow him to see me.“Oh, you’re here early, Alpha,” the sarcasm was audible in Hans’ voice.“So here is where I would be staying?” he sharply repeated. The coldness in his voice scared me even more. There were so many what if’s filling my thought maybe because I knew I was at fault for leaving him years ago.“Yes! What do you think of this beautiful place we’ve prepared for you?” Hans walked sideways to face Wade behind me.Staying still to wait for his response, however, I got nothing aside from footsteps receding away from me.“Hey, why are you two crying?”I looked back to see whom Wade was talking to, and my jaw dropped seeing him kneeling down in front of crying Evan and Zoey.“We were being kicked out of our home,” Zoey sniffled with her shaking shoulders.“And we’ve
LilyI couldn’t tell how long I stared at him blankly, empty thought, just thinking what could possibly happen to him that he forgets me.One thing is for sure, there’s a huge part of me that felt disappointed and sorrowful how come he just forgot me too soon?“Alright, we should get your things back before dusk,” he interrupts before walking past me.If he truly already forgets about me, then I wouldn’t mind reminding him anymore.Maybe I should start seeing these things as a good thing. It would be better and easier for me to live with him if he didn’t remember me at all, right? It didn’t take him long enough to bring back most of our things inside. I started cleaning as well when he got back with two duffel bags in his hand which seemed to be his belongings.“I’ll have the other room for you cleaned,” I offered, looking at the two duffel bags on his hands. He simply looked at me and without waiting for his response, I turned away to clean the room for him.Even though I badly wante
LilyMy heart leaped out, with my throat running dry as I couldn’t find the right words to answer his question.I was more than shocked by his first question, and I was completely lost when he added, “Or are the kids mine?”“No,” that word escaped my mouth quickly without even thinking twice. “No, the twins are not yours,” I continued, below whisper.“Look at how quickly you can deny that they’re not mine, but too afraid to even answer my first question,” he scoffed, shaking his head in disappointment. As soon as his feet stepped forward to reach me, my foot then took a step back.“Tell me, Lily. Just tell me. Why can’t you tell me?”I was praying that he’d stop moving forward, but my back had already touched the wall and still Wade kept on consuming our distance. His right hand made their way onto my left cheek, gently caressing it.“Why?” he questioned, leaning in closer.Placing my hands over his shoulder, I moved my face away from his touch. I knew if I dare to resist his gentle t
LilyThey all went straight to the dining table and all I could do was follow them.As soon as Evan and Zoey saw Alpha pull out a chair to sit at, they left the table and ran back to their room as if they were on cue.“Have you thought about it?” Wade sat in front of him with his intertwined hands on top of the table. “I hope that you’re here to hear you agree,” he continued.“I’ve told you my decision. It’s a no, Alpha Wade.”Though their conversation was calm, I could sense the tension between them two. It feels like both of them were just holding back themselves and could burst out by any chance they get.I remained standing not so far by the dining table, playing with my fingers, until I felt Beta Hans’ eyes on me. He was meaningfully raising his eyebrows. To lessen the tension, I decided to grab two glasses of water and serve them to each of them.“I am here to invite you to a party that will be held at my Packhouse tomorrow.”“I appreciate your invitation, but I would choose not
LilyIt was around seven in the evening when we arrived back home. Both Evan and Zoey were already asleep tired of playing and running everywhere.Wade unlocked the door with his other hand while carrying Evan on the other. Meanwhile, I was carrying Zoey in my arms.We went straight to the room to put the twins to bed.“Can I talk to you after?” he began, placing Evan down the mattress.I looked up at him with curiosity filling me. But without even waiting for my response, he immediately headed out.Planting quick kisses on their foreheads, I as well leave the room after making sure they are comfortably tucked in.Upon walking out of the room, I found Wade walking back and forth through the living room as if he was anxious about something.“Why do you want to talk to me?” I interrupted, to catch his attention. He hastily stopped walking and faced me as his face turning red. I pressed my lips together to restrain myself from smiling seeing his face red as tomato.“Uh, nothing,” he answ
LilyWithout hesitation, I just let Wade take me wherever he demanded like I was a lifeless body.“Are you okay?” Wade started, taking out a handkerchief from his pocket and began to wipe my wet hair with it while I stay still. We were standing a few meters away from the mini pool by the Packhouse veranda.“Lily,” he again called with worriedness audible in his baritone voice.I stared up at him and seeing his concerned expression, I failed to hold back the tears I was holding back since then.Tears flowed down my cheeks until my vision of his face began to blur with tears filling them. It’s just too overwhelming for me to see someone cares for me this way. I mean, I was used on having myself and no other else. To have someone who actually cares and would save me from such incident is something that I am not used to.I heard him tick his tongue before pulling me into his warm chest and embracing me tightly. The warmth of his embrace just feels like I was brought back home. Unconscious
LilyAiden gently squeezed my hands as I slowly pulled out from his embrace.“How about the twins? Have you thought of how Evan and Zoey would feel if you decided to move out? They grew up in this Pack’s environment, and moving away won’t be easy for them.”He had a point. I haven’t thought of how Evan and Zoey would feel.Because of the sudden realization sinking in, I was muted for a couple of minutes.Maybe telling Aiden this isn’t a bad idea at all. At least, I’ve got a chance to rethink my plans.“Yeah, you’re right. Maybe I should think about it carefully.”“Or I can ask James to let Alpha Wade live somewhere else—”“No, I am sure I can handle this on my own,” I quickly cut Aiden’s thought. “The kids like him so much,” I added in a lower tone. Before our conversation went out of hand, I stood up from my seat.“I think we’re gonna head back home now. It’s getting late and I want you to still have fun at this party.”“I’ll bring you home, then,” Aiden announced, standing up. “I’ll
LilyThe next morning, the scene from last night was still imprinted on my mind.Maybe I have been so delusional about his actions that I thought he was actually still into me.I got up and began preparing for today. It’s Monday so I’m going to drop the twins to school before I head to work.“Where’s Alpha Wade?” Zoey asked, picking up her school bag.It took me a couple more seconds before I came up with an answer. “Uh, he got very tired last night, that's why he’s still asleep in his room.”“Can’t we see him to at least say goodbye, Mom?” Evan chimed in.Letting out a deep sigh, I shook my head. “No, Evan. I’m sorry. But I’m sure you’re gonna have the chance to see him after school.”I’m certain Wade purposely didn’t get out of his room because perhaps he didn’t want to see me knowing what happened last night. It was so foolish of me to even ask him that question in the first place.Maybe he didn’t want me to take the things he did for the twins personally.“Let’s go?”Evan and Zoey
LilyWade made a point with the investigation he was pushing. Indeed, our Pack was keeping multiple women, the majority of whom were Omegas, in an underground hideout in one of the warehouses. After making sure everyone alive was rescued, including Mandy, Wade had to leave the pack as soon as possible. Delving into its deepest secret will never be acceptable for Alpha James. He will do everything to make Wade pay for what he has done. Our pack suffered huge financial losses after the secret was revealed to the masses. Many members left, but most of them, especially the lower-ranked ones had no other options for them. The hope I had that Lauren would be one of the females rescued instantly vanished. Perhaps it was time for me to accept she would be nowhere to be found anymore. She’s gone for good and the wonderful twins she had left with me were now forever my duty.“Let’s go. We’ve got to move now,” Wade uttered, motioning Evan and Zoey to come to him.My eyes cannot be removed from t
Lily“What?!” I couldn’t hide the shock with my voice. “But why?” My emotions was mixed with anger, frustration, and confusion at the same time.“It would be better.” “No! Everything were going just fine here, Aiden. There is no other reason we will relocate Pack after spending my twins childhood here.”“This will be the best for them, don’t you want tha—”“I decide for what’s best with my twins!”I just couldn’t understand him at all. At first, he didn’t want me to accept the job I got at the Packhouse, and now that we are seem to be getting used without Wade, here he comes suggesting another drastic change. I am just thinking about Evan and Zoey.“The Pack I am talking about is way better than the Moonlight Pack. You can have more opportunities there and—” “I won’t leave this Pack,” I cut him off with finality.“Lily, you gotta think about thi–”“Please leave, Aiden. I have made up my mind and we won’t ever relocate in any other Pack,” I lastly added, turning my back on him as I
WadeKnowing that most of the missing cases happening insdie the Moonlight Pack only involves females, only made me miserably worrying about Lily.I spent the past days investigating further because I cannot wait any longer and wait Lily to be involved or worse went missing.“Don’t you think we are going deeper and getting nonsense investigating this Pack?” “Everything make sense. We just gotta connect them all,” I utter, arranging the thick bunch of papers Matthew had just brought. He was right when he said that our investigations were going deeper because I started considering witch crafts and anything related to magics. At first, I thought the unreasonable poorness of the Moonlight Pack is simply just because someone powerful inside the Pack were robbing them, but after finding out the missing cases, I came to realize it wasn’t just that simple.“There were rumours that the Moonlight Pack was once cursed.” “You said it yourself, Wade. Rumors, there were no tangible proof you can
LilyI planned on visiting the Packhouse today to still convince Aiden into giving me a job inside the Packhouse. Well, although he was giving me money, I couldn’t depend on him my whole life. I need to earn on my own.We are slowly getting back into our normal lives, hence I still felt how sad Evan and Zoey had become after Wade left. I was just hoping Aiden was right that they were just kids and would eventually forget about Wade as time passes by.“It would be better if you work outside the Packhouse, Lily.” “But it would be more convenient if I just have my job nearby our house. I can freely do my duties as a mother and still work. Doesn’t that sound convincing enough for you? I know you can give me a job here, Aiden. You just don’t want to.”“You’re right.”My jaw dropped hearing his response.Although I have an idea he might just not want me to work here. But I only said that because I am out reasons. I couldn’t believe he will actually deprived me of working here.“W-what?!”
WadeAlthough I exactly knew why Alpha James kicked me out of the Moonlight Pack all of a sudden, but I chose not to do anything about it.He told me to leave that night and he wanted me out so bad the next morning. If my speculations were right that after Lily told Aiden what she found out inside my office that bastard for sure informed Alpha James about it. And as a guilty Alpha, he asked me to leave afraid that I might fully discover his darkest secret.Little did he know this is just the beginning of executing my plans. I was halfway there and I won’t let a little inconvenience stopped me from accomplishing this. The hardest part of leaving was to just say good bye to Evan and Zoey, especially to Lily.I thought our misunderstanding before that would make her hate me so she wouldn’t have to get hurt, but I was wrong. Even though she was trying to conceal what she truly feels like she always does, she cannot lie to me by any chance. My plan was to leave the Moonlight Pack peaceful
Lily“I planned on leaving early so the twins won’t have to see me leave. It’s not because I don’ want to say my goodbyes to them, but I think it will actually be harder for me.”I just nodded, agreeing with his idea. I couldn’t as well imagine how Evan and Zoey would react if they found out Wade is leaving. However, I know one thing for sure, they won’t be pleased knowing about it.Even though Wade had given me a heads up that this won’t be his goodbye yet, I just couldn’t force myself to believe it right away because he still leaving anyways. What if he decided not to come back anymore? If that happens, I couldn't do anything but to simply accept it and move on.As if he planned about this, I was kind of surprise to found his things already kept as his every thing on his room was gone. He grabbed his suitcase and pushed it until to the front door that was opened ajar.He walked back to his room and took out a duffel bag this time. He put it on top of his suitcase, bringing his cell
Lily“You’ve just got to believe me, Lily. Trust me on this one.” He held both my hands, squeezing them gently.“Give me a reason to believe you. Tell me what is it going on with our Pack that Aiden could be part of. Tell me and I promise to believe you.” His grip on my hands eventually loosened as he slowly shook his head.“I am yet to prove everything, Lily. I just need more time to gather all the proofs I need–” “Did I even ask for a proof? Why can’t you see it, Wade? I will always believe you, just give me something to believe in. Tell me what is it,” I sobbed, desperately wanted to know what he means. He let out a deep sigh, consuming the remaining space between us. His palms reached and cupped my cheeks while his thumb wiped my tears away.“I can’t tell you about it right now,” he murmured. In frustration, I moved my face away, pushing him away from me.Why does it feel the amount of trust I have in him weren’t reciprocated at all. He doesn’t trust me the way I trust him which
LilyIt took him a several seconds just staring right into my eyes as if he was weighing my expression.“What documents?”I blinked once and a few drops of my tears fall down. It’s funny how he is still trying to save his ass when he is obviously caught red handed.“Are there any more documents you were hiding that you cannot figure out what I have seen?” I bitterly laugh, wiping my tears away.Even though I couldn’t see any reason why I should be crying in the first place, hearing him deny everything right in my face only made me understand how easy it is for him to lie.“I already saw everything, Wade. From the financial records you were keeping down to all of the Pack members of our Pack—” “It’s not what you think it is.”“How could you do this to our Pack when we are already suffering? How much money do you plan stealing, huh? Isn’t your wealth enough for you?!”“I’m not planning on stealing anything!” he yelled just to stop me from spilling further.I was caught off guard after
LilyI forced myself to stood back up with my palm covering both my cheeks.“I’m sorry, but do I know you for you to just slap me twice?” I was trying to keep my voice low and sound respectful even though she clearly didn’t have any towards me.“Of course, how would you know me,” the woman snickered, fixing her hand bag that she’s carrying before flipping her hair.“Well, I am just the mother of the woman who’s now in misery because of you!”She was about to slap me once again when I blocked her hand with my arm.“I had no idea what you’re talking about. I don’t know who your daughter is and I never caused anyone’s life misery,” I defended, pushing her away from me.Tucking a couple strands of my hair behind my ear, I bow down my head as I walked past her to leave.“I am Iris’ mother,” she announced, immediately making me stop from stepping away.“You ruined the life she was dreaming about and now you have the guts to act so innocent?!” Hastily turning around to face her again, I saw
