Lily
I couldn’t tell how long I stared at him blankly, empty thought, just thinking what could possibly happen to him that he forgets me.
One thing is for sure, there’s a huge part of me that felt disappointed and sorrowful how come he just forgot me too soon?
“Alright, we should get your things back before dusk,” he interrupts before walking past me.
If he truly already forgets about me, then I wouldn’t mind reminding him anymore.
Maybe I should start seeing these things as a good thing. It would be better and easier for me to live with him if he didn’t remember me at all, right?
It didn’t take him long enough to bring back most of our things inside. I started cleaning as well when he got back with two duffel bags in his hand which seemed to be his belongings.
“I’ll have the other room for you cleaned,” I offered, looking at the two duffel bags on his hands.
He simply looked at me and without waiting for his response, I turned away to clean the room for him.
Even though I badly wanted to pretend and act normal, whenever his eyes met mine, I just couldn’t handle them. I felt like his eyes were telling otherwise from how he was acting.
Not even a minute had passed when the door creaked open and I felt his presence behind me.
“I’ll help you clean. It’s not like I’m not some kind of visitor here,” he chuckled, grabbing the washcloth.
“No, I can handle this. You also carry our things back inside. Think of this as my gratitude.” I was about to grab the cloth out of his hand, but instead, my palm touched his hand which felt like volts of electricity had just passed through my body that immediately pulled me back.
Wade slowly nodded and as if he didn’t hear what I just said, he continued to wipe the walls.
Accepting my defeat, I just let him do whatever he wants.
I pulled out a new curtain out of the drawer and placed a monoblock right in front of the small window to put the new curtains.
Lifting myself, I reached for the hook to where I’ll hang the curtains when my wet hand suddenly slipped, making me lose my balance and fall off the chair.
I thought I was gonna end up on the floor, but when I opened up my eyes, Wade’s face was the first thing I saw.
He was so close to me that I could feel his breath brushing against my nose.
“Careful,” he whispered, bringing me back to reality.
I nervously chuckled before removing his hand from my waist.
“Let me do that instead.”
Without any thoughts, I hand him the curtains.
“I-I’ll just prepare dinner. You should rest after replacing the curtains,” I utter below my breath before hastily walking away.
I reached the kitchen with my hand over my heart that’s beating crazily and the other clutching over the sink for support. I stayed like that for over five minutes and I could still feel his grip on my waist.
I don’t know how long I could resist us this close.
While cooking dinner, I overheard Zoey and Evan laughing from the living room. I turned the stove off and walked up to see them.
They were running around the couch while Wade was both chasing them as they giggled, catching their breaths.
Before they noticed my presence, I proceeded to cook and prepare the table.
I tried to act casually, especially when the dinner began with Wade seated in front of me while both Evan and Zoey were beside me.
“We’ve been playing since before but we haven’t asked your name, Alpha,” Evan began, as I filled his plate with rice.
“My name’s Wade.”
“Oh, cool name!” Evan regards, making both of them laugh.
“Do you have kids on your own, Alpha Wade?” Zoey then questions, leaving me in awe.
“You don’t have to answer that. I’m sorry for her too personal question,” I immediately contradicted.
“Your kids must be very lucky to have you as their father,” Zoey murmured.
“No, it’s okay, Lily. I won’t mind.”
Hearing him calling my name felt nostalgic. I lifted my head to see his gaze already fixed on me.
“And no, Zoey. I don’t have kids yet,” he answered with his eyes still on me, making me uneasy.
He grabbed the glass of water beside his plate to drink when Evan suddenly asked, “Are you even married?”
Wade was so surprised that he choked on the water he was drinking and just like him, my eyes widened.
“Okay, why don’t we clean you up for bed since you’re just done eating?”
Evan looked so innocent and confused when I stood up and brought them with me.
“Alpha Wade’s so kind, Mom! He loves playing with us!” Zoey cheered, jumping on the mattress.
“How long is gonna stay with us?”
“I honestly don’t know either, baby,” I admitted, tucking them on the blanket.
“Maybe you could ask him, Mom,” he insisted.
“I don’t know if I can do that.”
“Why not? He seemed to be a very good person.”
“Just ask him for us, Mom. Ask him, please!” both of them began whining and I just nodded just to stop them.
“Tomorrow,” I utter before planting kisses on both their forehead.
I shut the lights before leaving them to clean up the dishes we left in the kitchen. But I already found Wade facing the sink, washing the dishes while the table was already cleaned up.
My eyes lit up and I rushed to stop him.
“No, I’m gonna do that. You don’t need to do—”
I automatically shut when Wade faces sideways to my place. Just when I noticed how close I was to him that our bodies touched.
Quickly stepping back, I could feel my face heating in embarrassment.
“I insist,” he declared.
“Uhm, thanks. You should also take a rest after. The kids must have tired you playing out the whole time.”
He didn’t bother to respond, so I began walking away when he suddenly spoke, “Are they already asleep?”
Without looking back at him, I replied, “Yes.”
Pure silence enveloped the atmosphere until I heard him heavily sighing from behind.
“How long after you left me someone got you pregnant and left you in this poor situation?”
My heart stammered with his question, but there was also a part of me that was thinking this was all just part of my delusions and maybe I didn’t hear him properly because he already made me believe that he didn’t remember me at all.
I looked back at him. “U-uh, I’m sorry?”
His lips crept into a sad smile. “Do you really think I will forget you that easily?” he asked with his brows furrowing with a hint of pleading and grimace on his expression.
LilyMy heart leaped out, with my throat running dry as I couldn’t find the right words to answer his question.I was more than shocked by his first question, and I was completely lost when he added, “Or are the kids mine?”“No,” that word escaped my mouth quickly without even thinking twice. “No, the twins are not yours,” I continued, below whisper.“Look at how quickly you can deny that they’re not mine, but too afraid to even answer my first question,” he scoffed, shaking his head in disappointment. As soon as his feet stepped forward to reach me, my foot then took a step back.“Tell me, Lily. Just tell me. Why can’t you tell me?”I was praying that he’d stop moving forward, but my back had already touched the wall and still Wade kept on consuming our distance. His right hand made their way onto my left cheek, gently caressing it.“Why?” he questioned, leaning in closer.Placing my hands over his shoulder, I moved my face away from his touch. I knew if I dare to resist his gentle t
LilyThey all went straight to the dining table and all I could do was follow them.As soon as Evan and Zoey saw Alpha pull out a chair to sit at, they left the table and ran back to their room as if they were on cue.“Have you thought about it?” Wade sat in front of him with his intertwined hands on top of the table. “I hope that you’re here to hear you agree,” he continued.“I’ve told you my decision. It’s a no, Alpha Wade.”Though their conversation was calm, I could sense the tension between them two. It feels like both of them were just holding back themselves and could burst out by any chance they get.I remained standing not so far by the dining table, playing with my fingers, until I felt Beta Hans’ eyes on me. He was meaningfully raising his eyebrows. To lessen the tension, I decided to grab two glasses of water and serve them to each of them.“I am here to invite you to a party that will be held at my Packhouse tomorrow.”“I appreciate your invitation, but I would choose not
LilyIt was around seven in the evening when we arrived back home. Both Evan and Zoey were already asleep tired of playing and running everywhere.Wade unlocked the door with his other hand while carrying Evan on the other. Meanwhile, I was carrying Zoey in my arms.We went straight to the room to put the twins to bed.“Can I talk to you after?” he began, placing Evan down the mattress.I looked up at him with curiosity filling me. But without even waiting for my response, he immediately headed out.Planting quick kisses on their foreheads, I as well leave the room after making sure they are comfortably tucked in.Upon walking out of the room, I found Wade walking back and forth through the living room as if he was anxious about something.“Why do you want to talk to me?” I interrupted, to catch his attention. He hastily stopped walking and faced me as his face turning red. I pressed my lips together to restrain myself from smiling seeing his face red as tomato.“Uh, nothing,” he answ
LilyWithout hesitation, I just let Wade take me wherever he demanded like I was a lifeless body.“Are you okay?” Wade started, taking out a handkerchief from his pocket and began to wipe my wet hair with it while I stay still. We were standing a few meters away from the mini pool by the Packhouse veranda.“Lily,” he again called with worriedness audible in his baritone voice.I stared up at him and seeing his concerned expression, I failed to hold back the tears I was holding back since then.Tears flowed down my cheeks until my vision of his face began to blur with tears filling them. It’s just too overwhelming for me to see someone cares for me this way. I mean, I was used on having myself and no other else. To have someone who actually cares and would save me from such incident is something that I am not used to.I heard him tick his tongue before pulling me into his warm chest and embracing me tightly. The warmth of his embrace just feels like I was brought back home. Unconscious
LilyAiden gently squeezed my hands as I slowly pulled out from his embrace.“How about the twins? Have you thought of how Evan and Zoey would feel if you decided to move out? They grew up in this Pack’s environment, and moving away won’t be easy for them.”He had a point. I haven’t thought of how Evan and Zoey would feel.Because of the sudden realization sinking in, I was muted for a couple of minutes.Maybe telling Aiden this isn’t a bad idea at all. At least, I’ve got a chance to rethink my plans.“Yeah, you’re right. Maybe I should think about it carefully.”“Or I can ask James to let Alpha Wade live somewhere else—”“No, I am sure I can handle this on my own,” I quickly cut Aiden’s thought. “The kids like him so much,” I added in a lower tone. Before our conversation went out of hand, I stood up from my seat.“I think we’re gonna head back home now. It’s getting late and I want you to still have fun at this party.”“I’ll bring you home, then,” Aiden announced, standing up. “I’ll
LilyThe next morning, the scene from last night was still imprinted on my mind.Maybe I have been so delusional about his actions that I thought he was actually still into me.I got up and began preparing for today. It’s Monday so I’m going to drop the twins to school before I head to work.“Where’s Alpha Wade?” Zoey asked, picking up her school bag.It took me a couple more seconds before I came up with an answer. “Uh, he got very tired last night, that's why he’s still asleep in his room.”“Can’t we see him to at least say goodbye, Mom?” Evan chimed in.Letting out a deep sigh, I shook my head. “No, Evan. I’m sorry. But I’m sure you’re gonna have the chance to see him after school.”I’m certain Wade purposely didn’t get out of his room because perhaps he didn’t want to see me knowing what happened last night. It was so foolish of me to even ask him that question in the first place.Maybe he didn’t want me to take the things he did for the twins personally.“Let’s go?”Evan and Zoey
LilyThe truth may hurt me, but at least now I knew where to place myself for Wade.I was on my way downstairs to leave the Packhouse when I saw Mary making her way upstairs with a tray of food in her hand. I moved aside to give her way.Seeing her knocking at the room I just left, curiosity that’s building inside me won as I stayed in my place, carefully eavesdropping on what their conversation may be.“Here’s the exact food you requested, Luna.”I kept my back on them, not seeing what was happening as I stood in the corner before the staircase.“Can you tell me about that woman named Lily who cleaned this room?”My guts confirmed that I was correct. She wants to know more from me.“She joined our Pack a couple of years ago. One of the higher council of werewolves, Aiden brought them here.”“Them? Who’s she with? Is it a man?”“She’s a single mother of twins and if what I heard was right, Alpha Wade of Crescent Pack is currently staying in their hut.”As soon as hearing Mary revealed
LilyWhen Iris remained silent, Wade stepped up to reach her. Both my eyes were fixed on how his hands swiftly made their way to her waist. There was for sure a certain feeling building up inside me, but before I could even think of it, I averted my gaze away.“I hope this is the last time we’re going to talk about Lily leaving the Pack, James.”“This won’t happen again, Aiden.”Aiden’s grip on my hand tightened as he pulled me out with him. As soon as my back turns to them, I’m sure what I heard was right.“Lily,” Wade called for my name, in a low voice.I tried to look back at him, but Aiden’s pull didn’t let me. He tugs me so quickly, that I only get the chance to see Wade’s clenched jaw and tightened lips.“Are you alright? Did Iris hurt you?”Reaching the main gate of the Packhouse, Aiden began to examine me, but I assured him with a forceful smile.“No, Aiden. I’m alright,” I lied. “You’re just right in time because I don’t know what else to do if Alpha James does go after that
