Chapter 4: They’ll Stay [1079 WC]

Lily

I kept my back on him with my eyes pinned on the ground. Tons of emotions rushed through me and even so, I was wolfless, I am certain it was Wade. My feet were stuck, afraid to make any movements that would allow him to see me.

“Oh, you’re here early, Alpha,” the sarcasm was audible in Hans’ voice.

“So here is where I would be staying?” he sharply repeated.

The coldness in his voice scared me even more. There were so many what if’s filling my thought maybe because I knew I was at fault for leaving him years ago.

“Yes! What do you think of this beautiful place we’ve prepared for you?” Hans walked sideways to face Wade behind me.

Staying still to wait for his response, however, I got nothing aside from footsteps receding away from me.

“Hey, why are you two crying?”

I looked back to see whom Wade was talking to, and my jaw dropped seeing him kneeling down in front of crying Evan and Zoey.

“We were being kicked out of our home,” Zoey sniffled with her shaking shoulders.

“And we’ve got nowhere else to spend the night at,” Evan added.

Wade’s hand touched them which pushed me to involuntarily move my feet forward to reach Evan and Zoey, but halfway reaching them Wade suddenly looked back and I was immediately halted in my place.

His eyes found mine, and it didn’t even last for a minute when he removed his glance from me swiftly to get back to my twins.

“That won’t happen. Your home will remain yours,” he whispered, wiping their tears away before standing up only to walk past me as if he didn’t even know me.

I don’t know how to feel, because there was nothing visible in his eyes.

Wade’s voice thundered as he held Hans’ collar in anger. “How could you kick the owner of the house on my name?!”

Instead of thinking how come he just ignored me, I attended to Zoey and Evan, embracing them onto my chest.

I saw how Hans’ face went pale. “T-they weren’t the real owner of this house! Lily wasn’t even an official Pack member, so they would eventually be kicked out sooner or later,” his voice stuttered as he defended himself.

“That didn’t change a thing,” Wade roared back.

“Alpha, this won’t also change a thing. This is still our land, so you’ve got to back off with this kind of matter.” Hans successfully removed Wade’s grip on his collar, and immediately fixed his composure.

“They won’t leave,” Wade announced with finality, leaving Hans no other choice.

“Okay, fine! If that’s what you demand. But you’ve got no other place to stay at. So I suggest you just leave and go back to your goddamn place—”

Without finishing his statement, Hans stepped back and with another smack on his face with Wade’s clenched fist, he reached the ground.

“What the fuck do you want to happen then?! Huh?!”

“You have no right to speak to me that way. I wouldn’t mind staying here with them under same the roof. So tell your Alpha he won’t be able to push me away with this.”

“Alright, this is all settled then,” Hans snickered, wiping hints of blood on the corner of his lips.

He set foot on the door when I hastily stood up and ran after him.

“Beta!” I called, but he didn’t stop walking until I reached his place and pulled his left arm.

“What now, Lily?!”

“I think we should talk to Alpha in regards to this. I’m sure he can come up with a better solution.”

“Or perhaps you wanted to say talk to Aiden to use him in changing the Alpha’s mind?”

With Aiden having a high rank as a council, he basically has the ability to convince Alpha into this matter just like how he convinced him to let us stay in his Pack.

“If you want to talk with Alpha, I’m sure I couldn’t stop you from doing so, right? Then better talk to him on your own.”

“No, Beta, please. I don’t think you—” I couldn’t finish off when his hand clutched my wrist tightly to the point of pain.

I winced in pain when his claws began to replace the nails that dug into my skin.

“Can you fucking see this, Lily?!” he yelled, pointing to his bleeding lips. “This is all your goddamn fault! Now, if you don’t want to live with that arrogant Alpha, then that’s not my problem anymore.”

He dragged me down the lawn with blood dripping down all over my wrist.

“Let’s go,” he announced, commanding his other men to leave.

“Should we bring these things back inside, Beta?” one of his men asked.

“Are you fucking stupid?! Let them handle that mess on their own.”

Wiping the blood off my wrist with my shirt, I got back up and went straight inside where I found Wade squatted in front of Zoey and Evan as he persuaded them to stop crying.

“This will remain your house. I will just stay for a couple of weeks to settle something here.” Upon hearing those words from Wade they both hugged him while he caressed them gently.

As soon as their eyes found my presence, they rushed to me in glee.

“Mom! He said we won’t be leaving our house anymore!”

“He’s so kind!”

I happily nodded at them.

Even though how badly I wanted to decline Wade’s offer to let us stay and live with him, seeing them this happy that we’ll be staying at our house, I just knew I couldn’t afford to let my pride take over.

Moreover, declining Wade’s kindness would not result in any good outcome. We’ve got nowhere else to go, so it’s time for me to do my part as their mother. And that’s to do what’s good for them.

Looking back up, Wade was already standing in front of me with his hands slid in his pockets with a hint of a smile on his face.

“I apologize for the inconvenience my arrival has brought to you. Don’t worry because I don’t think I will be staying for too long, and rest assured that I won’t do anything bad to you and your children.”

His words didn’t catch me off guard, but the way he spoke to me did.

Why is he talking as if I’m a complete stranger to him?
