The morning sun filtered through the curtains, casting a golden hue over the room as I sat behind my desk, going through reports from the previous night’s patrol. The pack had been unusually quiet lately, but I knew better than to let my guard down. There was always something brewing, especially with the rogues lurking around, and I needed to stay ahead of it.

Still, my mind kept drifting to Laura—no, *Lawi*, as she insisted on being called. She had been a mystery since the day she arrived, and despite our countless encounters, I couldn’t figure her out. She was brave, undeniably so, but she carried secrets, layers she refused to peel back, no matter how much I pressed. And yet, there was something about her that unsettled me, something that made it difficult to focus on anything else when she was around.
