Shadowed by Danger

LAURA'S POV

The night air was thick with tension. I could feel it in my bones, that creeping unease that told me something was terribly wrong. Troy walked ahead with the girl, completely unaware of the forty rogues tailing them from the shadows. My instincts screamed to act, but I held back, moving silently behind them, tracking the danger that loomed so close.

I knew what the rogues wanted. They were out for blood—Troy’s blood, and the girl was just a pawn in their sick game. But I wasn’t about to let that happen. Not on my watch.

As I slinked through the trees, my steps light and deliberate, I began to pick them off, one by one as we took the forest path.. The first rogue didn’t even have time to blink before my blade sliced through his throat. He fell to the ground soundlessly. Then the next, and the next. Twenty rogues in total, gone in mere minutes, and still the others hadn’t noticed. Their arrogance would be their downfall.
