I hate you Earnest

On getting to the coffee shop, I glanced through the window and saw Earnest sitting there waiting for me. My heart skipped a beat as I reached for the entrance. Earnest stood up, smiling at me.

“Hi, you look more than words can express,” he said as I feigned a smile, trying to act cool.

It seemed he was the only person around; I didn’t see anyone else. Could it be that he paid for this place just for the two of us?

“Hi, why is it just the two of us here?” I asked.

“Hmmm, I just wanted the two of us to spend the night here alone, patching things up,” he said as he drew closer to me. His handsomeness made my heart race faster.

“I don’t see a reason for you to keep a reservation for just the two of us. The fact remains that you are going to become my stepbrother,” I said, taking a measured step to walk away from him. He gripped me, tears rolling down my cheeks. I didn’t know if I could live without him.
