"Maricela, we have a long history of friendship. After being away for so long and losing touch with our previous friends, I've come to appreciate our connection even more. It just so happens that neither of us is particularly fond of Kathy."

Uncertain of Carissa's motives, Maricela eyed her suspiciously and asked, "What is your purpose in visiting me today?"

"Maricela, I genuinely want to help you. I can see that you're struggling," Carissa expressed with a heavy heart, tears welling up in her eyes as she gazed at Maricela. To an observer, their bond could have been mistaken for that of long-lost siblings.

Touched by Carissa's apparent concern, Maricela quickly realized that Carissa had no intention of forming a true friendship with her. Carissa saw herself merely as a tool to be used in handling the situation with Kathy. Carissa was a shrewd individual who had approached Maricela for her purposes.
