As I met Denise's venomous gaze, my satisfaction reached its peak.

Beside me, Liam was quietly checking me over for injuries. I poked the corner of his mouth with my finger. "What’s wrong? Did I scare you?"

He didn’t say a word, just pulled me into a tight embrace, holding me as if he wanted to fuse me into his very bones.

I froze, feeling the warmth of his silent tears against my neck.

I patted his back gently, soothing him as if comforting a child.

"Don’t ever do something so dangerous by yourself again," he murmured, his voice thick with emotion. "When I saw you in that man’s hands, I thought my heart would stop."

"I had a backup plan, didn’t I?" I replied, playfully dangling the modified necklace in front of him. It had a tiny tracking device inside, ensuring that Liam could locate me even without a phone.

He took the necklace and slowly pocketed it, a hint of stubbornness in his tone. "Next time, don’t bring this. Bring me."
