Janet was sitting inside a taxi, thinking about what transpired between Edwin and her inside the Wilson group.

She couldn’t imagine Edwin would offer her compensation so blatantly.

She didn’t once regret refusing him.

But she felt so inferior, so useless, thinking her first time, her virtue that she cherished so much was only worth some useless stack of cash.

Is this what her life is to those rich people? Or maybe inferior to what she could imagine.

Edwin was just being generous.

Otherwise, wouldn’t it be much easy to vanish her presence from the earth?

What was she in front of the great Edwin Wilson?

“Mam,” the taxi driver’s voice made her come out of her trance.

“Huh?” Janet looked outside and noticed the familiar surroundings of her house.

“Oh.” She got out of the car and handed the fare to the driver before walking inside.

“Janet, you are back. I was waiting for you.” Rim came out from the kitchen as soon as Janet entered inside.

Janet was still angry, and she didn’t want to argue
