Chapter 16

MAGGIE POV

“No Zante, I’m going back to my parents, only for a little while until everything here has calmed down” I explain putting my hands up apologetically. I couldn’t be here while Stacey was stomping round the house like a child. I understood why she was hurting but stalking me constantly and hissing whenever I pass near her, was getting on my tits. I was also still very hurt about being marked not once but twice without my consent. I had finally got my strength back after a couple of days of rest and was able to walk for myself.

“Maggie please, I’ve nearly lost you once, I’m not going to do it again. If you go back into the city, you will be in danger again” Zante pleads while taking a step towards me.

“I won’t be going back to the city, to make things a little easier, I will move into the house you had built for us before I was taken. I have already spoken to them, and they have agreed to move in for a little while” I sigh looking everywhere but at Zante. I run my fingers unconsciously across the mark on my neck, when Zante’s hand covers my own.

“I didn’t want to mark you that way, but Maggie, I couldn’t lose you to him” he says while dropping his head on my shoulder, running his thumb over my fingers. “Zev and Kodan were reluctant too, but he could have killed you” he inhales my scent as he pushes his face into the crook of my neck. My eyes roll as I feel him brush against his mark and I feel the familiar sparks race across my skin.

I pull his face up to meet mine and look deeply into his eyes. The flame in his eyes sparked a little when we made eye contact and my heart lurched in my chest.

“I’ll be back once Stacey is sorted” I say plainly before walking out the door to meet my mom.

Mom wraps me in a hug and Dad follows quickly. Soon tears were falling from all three of us, and Mom pats me down and straightens my clothes.

“Are you sure this is what you want Maggie” Mom questions, glancing over to me as we walk in the house. I see here eyes flick to the mark on my neck and quickly look away.

“I can’t be there while she is there. It’s causing too much trouble for Zante and honestly, she is a pain in the ass. Entitled bitch” I scoff. I open the door intended to be my room and fall onto the bed. I must have lay there a while and drifted off and I’m awoken by mom shaking me awake.

“Come on darling we have visitors” She beams and am instantly hit with the smell of her cooking. Mom always has been a good cook and the smell makes me relax.

KODAN POV

“Yes Alpha, all is okay” We hear her say, while he hid outside her room.

Stacey didn’t know we had overheard her phone call, but we were both baffled who it might be that she was speaking to. Zante and ourselves were her pack Alphas, we weren’t aware that she knew anyone else. We had followed her to her room, when we heard her on the phone.

“Yes I can get the money to you, yes I’ll meet you there later” we hear her say though the door. I frown, this wasn’t making sense. “No. no don’t worry I have some work I need to do anyway so it will be easy” We decide to keep an eye on Stacey for the time being until we had more information.

Zante comes out of his room as we head towards ours. He beams and kisses both of us on the cheeks.

“We are going to Maggie’s for dinner” he says with a huge smile on his face. “Sharron just called and invited us.” We all smile “What were you doing outside Stacey’s room” We glance between each other.

“She was on the phone to someone, and we were eavesdropping” We both hang our heads.

“Don’t let her catch you, her mood is vile for some reason” he says with a smirk “We have to be at Maggie’s for 6pm”

Stacey comes out of her room and nearly walks into all three of us. She looks at us with big eyes and smirks before running off to her office. I didn’t like the look she had on her face, but I was more excited about spending time with Maggie.

STACEY POV

I hang up on Jase and head towards the door. I had no idea what Jase wanted all this money for, but I owed him and I didn’t want to get on the wrong side of him. He had already done quite a lot to Maggie, and she didn’t do anything to him.

I basically walk into the 3 men when I leave, and they all look at me surprised. I smirk at them, hiding my nerves which were threatening to give me away and head to my office where I lock the door and pull the blinds.

I pull up the pack finances and check to see how much money we had. I scoff to myself when I realise what Jase wanted wouldn’t even make the slightest dent in their fortune. Unlocking the safe I’m hit with the smell of cash, resisting the urge to crawl in and roll around in it, I pull out the money I need and push it in my bag, sealing it quick.

I head back to my room to get changed and notice the men’s car had gone. A growl escapes me when I think of where they could be, how could they just abandon me all of a sudden.

I shrug on my jacket and call a cab to take me to the edge of town, to meet Alpha Jase. It was freezing in the city at this time of year, I watch as people hurriedly bustle about their evenings, heading home to their families.

I turn into an alleyway and head to the back. Im suddenly taken off my feet and pulled through a side door. Once my eyes had adjusted, I gaze up in Alpha Jase’s stare. He was a lot more handsome than I remembered, shame he didn’t have a lot of money. I was still a bit hot from smelling the cash earlier, that I fidget uncomfortably as Jase looks at me.

“Well…” Jase starts. I instantly pull the cash from my bag and feel sweat beading on my skin. Jase must have smelt my arousal as when he looked back at me his eyes were black.

I lick my lips as we hold each other’s gaze, he drops the cash next to him and presses me up against the wall. He pulls me up the wall level with his face and I wrap my legs around him, as he pulls me hard against his crotch.

“Seeing as I lost my one new bloodline, looks like I could make do with you” Jase looks me up and down and slowly runs his fingers over my skin. He cocks his head to the side and smiles. He clicks his tongue and runs his fingers through my hair, before pushing me towards the door.

“You will hear from me soon” he says as he pushes me back out the door and into the cold air. I pull my collar up round my neck and head back towards the taxi rank.
