I paced the dimly lit corridor, the flickering lights casting eerie shadows on the cold stone walls. The damp air clung to my skin, mixing with the rising anger boiling inside me. I had just received the news—Amanda had escaped. My jaw clenched involuntarily as I spun around to face the guard who had delivered the message.

"What do you mean she's gone?" I demanded, my voice echoing through the narrow passage. The guard, a young man with fear etched across his face, stammered as he tried to explain.

"I-I don't know how it happened, sir. We found the cell empty this morning. The lock was still in place, but she... she just wasn't there."

I grabbed him by the collar, pulling him close enough to see the panic in his eyes. "You think I care about your excuses? Find her! Now! Mobilize everyone. I want every inch of this place searched, top to bottom. She couldn't have gone far."

Releasing him, I watched as he scurried away, shouting orders to the other guards. I turned to my lieutenant
