Chapter 24

Melissa.

Tick. Tock. Tick. Tock.

I couldn’t stop looking at the clock, because at the moment, every second was important to me. Ever since I left the hall after my talk with Zachary, all I could do was stare at the clock as I couldn’t wait for school to be over.

The statistics teacher in front of the classroom continued to teach while my eyes was still on the clock. Three more minutes, I reminded myself. Three more minutes for school to be over and for Zach and I to continue to explore what we started in the hall.

And I just couldn’t wait.

Finally, the school bell rang, and everyone began to gather their things even before the teacher left the class. Chloe stood from her seat and after hanging her small excuse of a bag on her back, turned to look at me.

“Aren’t you going?” she asked, probably surprised that I was still seated and not feeling enthusiastic enough to leave like other people.

“I have a meeting with the dean.” I lied, refusing the urge to scratch an itch on my nose which
