CHAPTER 119: FREE MAN

Caelen's POV

“Come to gloat?” I ask as my visitor comes to a stop in front of my cell. I didn't have to lift my eyes to know who it was; I could already sense him from afar.

“Not exactly, although that wouldn't exactly be such a bad idea,” Saul says, and that is when I look up at him. He looks tired.

Incredibly tired.

The cocky smile on his face vanishes when he sees that I wasn't even a bit amused.

"Well, I don't want to see you. Get out,” I say gruffly, turning my back on him to further show my point.

“Come on, man, don't be like that. If I hadn't done what I did, then that freak show that calls herself queen would have killed Audrey!” I hear him say, and I scoff.

“Why do you even care?” I ask him with my glare focused on the wall.

“Because she is my goddamn mate!” he snaps. Oh, that's right. I keep forgetting that. “Do you really think I wanted to put something in your food or jeopardize Meredith's chance at getting her kingdom back?”
