Hello again beautiful readers! Why did you think Ophelia kept the locket a secret all these years? let me know what you think in the comments! Thank you all for reading and the continuous support! Till we meet again!
“Well, you sure took your time with your son,” Jone said, dancing his way back inside the Alpha’s study room.“Some things can’t wait,” Bernard said, gesturing for him to sit down. The human’s continuous movement was making his headaches worse. “Where did we stop?”Jone sighed, disappointed to be back to business again. “As I said earlier, there is still nothing to report,” he said, picking at his nails. “Everything has been the same for 6 years.”Bernard was quiet for a minute before he said, “And that rogue merchant? Do you know anything?”“That rogue?” he asked, need not an answer. “He disappeared. Never spotted after.”
“See,” he whispered. “I told you there are prey at night.” Ophelia didn’t hear Noah speak next to her, but she felt his body next to hers. The sensation was too foreign to her skin as if she secluded it to only focus on the prey before her. She had no intention of harming the animal and it was reflected in her aura emitting from her body. The tiny animal held its head up to stare at the new company, it showed no signs of hostility or fright. Ophelia grinned, extending her hands to the animal to show she had no intention of hurting it. When the bunny licked the tips of her fingers, she felt happiness rush through her. She went back to the child she was years ago, before any of this. The thrill of the hunt made her forget the rough reality she lived. Here in the forest, she was the predator. This was her realm. “You wanna keep it?” Noah asked, sitting beside her. She shook her head. “This is its home. I was only tracking it.” Noah nodded. He turned to study the area around th
“Did Valarie care to mention what the Alpha wants?” Ophelia asked, crossing her hands behind her back. “I don’t know,” Noah said. His answer was too blunt for Ophelia to like. “Hard to believe that she keeps secrets from you,” Ophelia said. Her voice meant to irritate him but it failed. “Secrets?” Noah scoffed a laugh. “You ought to know once we arrive anyway. So what’s the rush for?” Ophelia hummed as she gave his question some thought. There was just something unsettling in her stomach. A bad feeling that something is going to happen. Something she won’t like. “I don’t know,” she muttered. “Just an unsettling feeling perhaps.” Noah took a moment to read the worry on her face and hoped it would be nothing. He held out his hand to place it reassuringly on hers. Ophelia jumped at the sudden touch and turned to look at his scarlet eyes. They shimmered in the dimly lit hallways like a lantern with a fire blazing on a cold winter night. For a minute, Ophelia thought she saw the
“Noah,” Ophelia called, racing down the hallway. “Noah!” she called again. But Noah never stopped he kept going to God-knows where and he was fast. She stopped for a minute and took a breath before she ran after crazy long legs, and grabbed him just in time. “Hey! I’ve been calling you!” she said through ragged breaths. Noah didn’t spare her a glance. “Let go of me, Ophelia,” he said bluntly, his voice was dark. Darker than she had ever heard him before. “I won’t,” Ophelia said. “Not until you tell me what the hell was that.” She felt his muscles relax under her grip and he finally looked over his shoulder at her. He was in agony. His eyes were shades darker than they should be. A dark cloud hovered over his face, making his features as sharp as razors. Just what is going on with him? “There is nothing to say, Ophelia,” Noah asked, pulling his arm gently from her grasp. “You should go now.” He took a few steps forward before Ophelia intercepted his path again. “Are you craz
“See,” Claudia said, a genuine smile on her face. “I told you he’ll come.” Ophelia was stunned at the sight of Noah. Claudia might have been the only one enthusiastic about it, the rest of the table were as shocked as Ophelia. Claudia had hoped that this could be a start to him accepting her bit by bit. But she was wrong. The glare that Noah shot at Claudia made her shudder to the point that she dropped her fork. The clattering of the silverware against the ceramic plate was the only sound in the silent room. Before Ophelia could intervene, Noah turned to his mother. “You said she won’t be here,” Noah hissed through clenched teeth. “You said it would be just us.” Valarie sighed in disappointment, her plan did not turn out as it should. She hoped that Noah would refrain himself from humiliating Claudia before them and he would silently join them. But she was far from being right. She had no idea how stubborn Noah could be when he wanted to. It was a side foreign to all of them.
Claudia walked with a pleased smile on her rosy lips. She was grateful to have met Ophelia in the garden. She doubted the talk would impact her situation in any way, however, it did make her feel a little more at ease. The young Alpha was no stranger, in fact, Claudia had seen and heard of him from everyone. She drew a vague image of his character within his mind but, the one she has encountered here was far from what she imagined. For a moment there in the dining hall, she began to think that Noah might just be a tyrant disguised as a hero to the whole clan. Until the Alpha’s ward hurried after her to convince her other wise. There was something she saw in Ophelia’s deep eyes, lingering emotions trapped and isolated. But they were too great for her to conceal completely. Was the Alpha’s ward in love with the Young Alpha? She couldn’t phantom an answer and didn’t want to either. Lady Ella was more than generous with her during her stay and the last thing she wanted was to pry on
Ophelia closed her eyes and kissed him back. She lost herself into him as if he sucked her soul with every breath. Her mind was screaming in denial, urging her to push him back and her body wouldn’t comply as though it had a mind of its own. Her body was hot yet she was shivering with ecstasy when his large hands trailed down her back. She felt his warm wet lips move down to her neck, leaving a trail of kisses on its path. That’s when she felt it. Noah’s teeth were bared on the nape of her neck. “NO!” she yelled at the top of her lungs, pushing him with everything she had got. Noah stumbled back, his elbows broke his fall. Ophelia crawled back away from him. Her face was flushed as she took rapid breaths. She wanted to leave but there was no strength in her legs anymore. She couldn’t make out any coherent thoughts. All she could do was trace her fingertips over the nape of her neck. Noah almost marked her as his mate. This was the first thought that she was able to put toge
“He won’t ever force her to accept,” Ophelia finished instead. The moment that Ophelia registered everything, she was able to come to the conclusion herself. It was simply Bernard’s character, he was not a cruel person to force them together. It was weird from the start. Bernard never forced Noah to do anything before. So why now?Ophelia couldn’t think of a reason and amid her thoughts, she wondered why was she so desperate to find it. Her mind wandered back to the events from a few days and she shuddered.“Well,” she said, after a minute of awkward silence. “Whether you get engaged or not is up to you and Claudia. It’s none of my business.”She waited for no reply and turned on her heels to walk away. Th
