Hello again my beautiful readers! I hope you have enjoyed this chapter! I know I don't update as often as other writers, but I hope that you would please understand. Thank you for the support you have shown me so far and I hope you enjoyed the chapter. Till next time!
“Did Valarie care to mention what the Alpha wants?” Ophelia asked, crossing her hands behind her back. “I don’t know,” Noah said. His answer was too blunt for Ophelia to like. “Hard to believe that she keeps secrets from you,” Ophelia said. Her voice meant to irritate him but it failed. “Secrets?” Noah scoffed a laugh. “You ought to know once we arrive anyway. So what’s the rush for?” Ophelia hummed as she gave his question some thought. There was just something unsettling in her stomach. A bad feeling that something is going to happen. Something she won’t like. “I don’t know,” she muttered. “Just an unsettling feeling perhaps.” Noah took a moment to read the worry on her face and hoped it would be nothing. He held out his hand to place it reassuringly on hers. Ophelia jumped at the sudden touch and turned to look at his scarlet eyes. They shimmered in the dimly lit hallways like a lantern with a fire blazing on a cold winter night. For a minute, Ophelia thought she saw the
“Noah,” Ophelia called, racing down the hallway. “Noah!” she called again. But Noah never stopped he kept going to God-knows where and he was fast. She stopped for a minute and took a breath before she ran after crazy long legs, and grabbed him just in time. “Hey! I’ve been calling you!” she said through ragged breaths. Noah didn’t spare her a glance. “Let go of me, Ophelia,” he said bluntly, his voice was dark. Darker than she had ever heard him before. “I won’t,” Ophelia said. “Not until you tell me what the hell was that.” She felt his muscles relax under her grip and he finally looked over his shoulder at her. He was in agony. His eyes were shades darker than they should be. A dark cloud hovered over his face, making his features as sharp as razors. Just what is going on with him? “There is nothing to say, Ophelia,” Noah asked, pulling his arm gently from her grasp. “You should go now.” He took a few steps forward before Ophelia intercepted his path again. “Are you craz
“See,” Claudia said, a genuine smile on her face. “I told you he’ll come.” Ophelia was stunned at the sight of Noah. Claudia might have been the only one enthusiastic about it, the rest of the table were as shocked as Ophelia. Claudia had hoped that this could be a start to him accepting her bit by bit. But she was wrong. The glare that Noah shot at Claudia made her shudder to the point that she dropped her fork. The clattering of the silverware against the ceramic plate was the only sound in the silent room. Before Ophelia could intervene, Noah turned to his mother. “You said she won’t be here,” Noah hissed through clenched teeth. “You said it would be just us.” Valarie sighed in disappointment, her plan did not turn out as it should. She hoped that Noah would refrain himself from humiliating Claudia before them and he would silently join them. But she was far from being right. She had no idea how stubborn Noah could be when he wanted to. It was a side foreign to all of them.
Claudia walked with a pleased smile on her rosy lips. She was grateful to have met Ophelia in the garden. She doubted the talk would impact her situation in any way, however, it did make her feel a little more at ease. The young Alpha was no stranger, in fact, Claudia had seen and heard of him from everyone. She drew a vague image of his character within his mind but, the one she has encountered here was far from what she imagined. For a moment there in the dining hall, she began to think that Noah might just be a tyrant disguised as a hero to the whole clan. Until the Alpha’s ward hurried after her to convince her other wise. There was something she saw in Ophelia’s deep eyes, lingering emotions trapped and isolated. But they were too great for her to conceal completely. Was the Alpha’s ward in love with the Young Alpha? She couldn’t phantom an answer and didn’t want to either. Lady Ella was more than generous with her during her stay and the last thing she wanted was to pry on
Ophelia closed her eyes and kissed him back. She lost herself into him as if he sucked her soul with every breath. Her mind was screaming in denial, urging her to push him back and her body wouldn’t comply as though it had a mind of its own. Her body was hot yet she was shivering with ecstasy when his large hands trailed down her back. She felt his warm wet lips move down to her neck, leaving a trail of kisses on its path. That’s when she felt it. Noah’s teeth were bared on the nape of her neck. “NO!” she yelled at the top of her lungs, pushing him with everything she had got. Noah stumbled back, his elbows broke his fall. Ophelia crawled back away from him. Her face was flushed as she took rapid breaths. She wanted to leave but there was no strength in her legs anymore. She couldn’t make out any coherent thoughts. All she could do was trace her fingertips over the nape of her neck. Noah almost marked her as his mate. This was the first thought that she was able to put toge
“He won’t ever force her to accept,” Ophelia finished instead. The moment that Ophelia registered everything, she was able to come to the conclusion herself. It was simply Bernard’s character, he was not a cruel person to force them together. It was weird from the start. Bernard never forced Noah to do anything before. So why now?Ophelia couldn’t think of a reason and amid her thoughts, she wondered why was she so desperate to find it. Her mind wandered back to the events from a few days and she shuddered.“Well,” she said, after a minute of awkward silence. “Whether you get engaged or not is up to you and Claudia. It’s none of my business.”She waited for no reply and turned on her heels to walk away. Th
“This is one hell of a celebration,” Merrick stated, leaning towards Ophelia to murmur in her ear. “You did a great job.” “It’s my first time handling something so big,” she smiled. She was proud of all she did, it was a hectic week. It started with the locket, then Noah’s on-halt engagement, and at last, the kiss she shared with Noah. She pushed the memory to the far end of her mind, distracting herself by putting her full focus on Merrick beside her. “But you did it so well, Ella,” Merrick replied. Ophelia’s attention was back on him and she gave him a smile as he escorted her to the Alpha’s side. “Ella,” the Alpha greeted. “You are as beautiful as always.” “You flatter me, My Lord,” Ophelia said, grateful. “Good evening to you to Lady Valarie. Your dress is astounding.” “Oh my,” Valarie chuckled with a hand on her mouth. “Thank you for your kind words, Ella.” Noah stood next to his father with his hands behind his back. Ophelia noted his glare at something beyond her, she
The music wasn’t loud enough to cover her loud heartbeats. She could feel her hands beginning to sweat and thanked Sarah for the gloves she gave her at the last minute. She was aware of the crowd’s eyes on her, she hated the attention way more than she hated the situation she was in. Noah felt the faint trembling of her hands as she held back from holding too tightly. He stole a glance at her from the corner of his eyes and smirked. Her eyes fixed on the ground counting the steps they took till they were finally amid the dance floor. Other couples were ready waiting for them to start the dance. Noah spun her around, too fast for her to react. The next thing she noticed was her body pressed against his solid chest. Noah had a hand on her waist and the other held hers. Ophelia now had a free hand and she hesitated where to place it. The sight was amusing, Noah guided her hand to his shoulder and he could swear she gasped. He was having fun more than he should be. Especially aft
*THIS IS A FREE CHAPTER IF YOU WERE CHARGERD PLEASE CONTACT GOODNOVEL*As this journey comes to an end I'm left with many doubts regarding the way I did it. There were days when I wanted to quite, but my heart desperately clung on to the last string of hope. The novel wasn't going along as well as I thought it would. Through the darkest days I had to remind myself that there are readers out there enjoying it. The last 2 years have been a roller coaster in my life, writing was hard, I barely had the time or the energy. But as I finally got a breather, I decided it was time to end this book. I ended it to mark the end of a phase of my life, and the life of my characters... Some might see it was rushed, but, it was the only way I saw it coming along.I the excitement of reaching the end gave me power to keep on going... And now the thrill of starting a new journey is giving me power. I believe to start something new, you need to end the past. And I did. These characters all repli
It has been a year since 18.6.2024…The day Ophelia’s life had taken a turn forever. It was hard at first to keep on living, to be the only survivor it got to her harder than ever since all hope had vanished with the day she set E.VI.L on fire. However, time proved to be stronger than any sensation that lingered after that accident. She soon began to overcome it all. Though she never forgot. But it didn’t hurt as much anymore. Having Noah and Luke by her side made it all easier since she focused on preserving what she had left rather than what she had lost. She was sure that would be what her clan wanted her to do. She lived on carrying their memory with her every breath. “Ophelia!” She snapped out of her trance to return to reality. Luke hovered over her as she crouched down before her parent's graves. It was summer now, the snow melted and the sky above was clear. The birds sang atop the trees behind the graves of the Crescent. Flowers sprouted beside her parent's graves in s
The ocean spread vastly around the yacht in all directions. The horizon line turned dark blue as they sailed away from Glaham. The sky weaved with the water in perfect harmony. There were little to no clouds in the sky. It had been raining cats and dogs the past few days. She appreciated the sun today. Ophelia took a seat on the roof of the yacht, it was all in white, the metal, the fabric, it all gave a sense of serenity with the sound of crashing waves against the boat’s belly. Luke on the other hand couldn’t decide if it was better on the roof or the deck, and in his pursuit, he climbed up and down over a dozen times. Finally, when they were halfway through their journey, he decided to settle next to his sister, his pale features were paler as he sat with a loud thud.“All is good?” Ophelia asked raising an eyebrow, offering her pack of chips that she saved from her brother’s wrath. Luke waved her off and gagged. “I think I’m getting sick.”“I told you not to eat too much before
Later after Ophelia left Noah, she headed to her room to change into something more comfortable for the long way ahead. It would take them almost half a day to reach the organization according to Luke’s statements. They will take a ship from the shores of Encford. Ophelia recalled Margret, Enzo’s daughter. News of the Alpha’s death has probably reached them by now. This whole trip was to fulfill her promise to Enzo, to get the medicine needed for his daughter’s survival. Alpha Laura promised to do her best to study the medicine and replicate it if possible. Aside from the promise, she wanted to see what it was like for Luke there, and the other Crescents. During Luke’s interrogation, he mentioned that some Crescents were still held captive by the organization. Ophelia held back from having any hope at all. It has been a long time since their capture, there was no knowing what changed in them during these years. She was able to bring back her brother, deep down she wanted to save
The last gift…As Noah told her earlier, he was present for his father’s funeral. Ophelia never got the chance to attend funerals except for her clan's.But she was sure they were meant to be more crowded than this. It was her, Noah, and his parents, Merrick, Oswald, and Hero. No one else came. No one wanted to be here. The Council only approved this burial as a thank you to Noah for being a hero. Ophelia didn’t judge them, she would be lying if she said she felt sorry for Dustin. She was here because of what it meant to Noah. He wanted to bury a part of him with Dustin. Lock it all underneath the wooden lid of the coffin, and deep into the ground. Perhaps then, it would make his heart feel lighter. It was raining lightly now in the woods, the sky was paid actor as it shed tears over all those they had lost, the water droplets puttered against the leaves above their heads in a steady rhythm. Noah chose to bury his father on the flat land next to the lake. He hated this lake, alway
Rain…The rain continued for the next two days. The sun shined behind the dense clouds, its rays escaping through the gaps to illuminate the destruction of Glaham. The horizon was a thin line of smug and debris. The rain puttered on the leaves of what remained of nature and the trees. The once bright and soothing woods ringing the mansion now resembled a ghost city. Ophelia stood at her window, the rain drizzling down her window heavily. Her heart ached at the state of Moonglade, it reminded her of the time she returned to the Crescents after the arson. The destroyed homes, the blood-soaked streets, and the bone-chilling cold. Her eyes refocused on her reflection in the window. She looked tired. Her platinum white hair was tied up behind her head, her eyes were red-rimmed with lack of sleep, and dark circles reached her cheeks. She was dressed in a black button-up shirt and a black skirt. All the black brought attention to her tired and wary pale face. Whenever she closed her eyes to
Ophelia…The world went serene. Time stopped as if someone pushed the pause button. Warm light shyly intervened from the heavens. There were no shadows, or demons threatening the fated mates. Noah felt at ease as if someone was hugging his heart from within. The throbbing in his chest was gone the moment he saw Ophelia crouching in front of him, her long platinum hair falling like a curtain around her face.Noah got to his feet, lighter, his footsteps echoing in the air as he knelt to her side, gently touching her shoulders. Ophelia trembled softly under his touch, she slowly held her head up, her eyes shyly popping out between her messed-up hair. Her violet eyes were rimmed red, she had been crying. Noah couldn’t help the smile that touched his mouth. He rarely sees tears in Ophelia's eyes; when he does, he can’t help the empathy crawling into his heart. The need to protect every strand of her moon-like hair, and keep the tears from ever finding her eyes again. Noah extended his ha
“Come forth! Nymeria!”The eruption started from inside Ophelia. She felt it in her chest as it rattled against her rips, something was breaking free of constraints. Nymeria. She blazed in violet and light as if Ophelia was the center of a torture and her fire burned bright around her. It sent a shock wave in a ring around her, bringing the battle’s attention to her. She felt the ecstasy wash over her. In her hand, her power took form. It materialized from thin air into the most beautiful sword Ophelia lay her eyes on. The blade dazzled as it caught the light, it seared in the smug air, as if a star fell from the star right into her hands. The metallic hilt wrapped around her hand and wrist gracefully like satin. The sword was light in her hand, she felt it pulsating in her palm as it came alive. Nymeria, she thought feeling the she-wolf resonate within her very soul.I’m with you Ophelia, Nymeria said, her voice echoing in her mind. This is your power. Wield it!Ophelia took it a
“We do this together!” Ophelia stood center, Merrick and Hero on her right and Oswald on her left, she felt their auras pulsate in the air around them.“Are you sure you are well enough to fight?” Merrick muttered, his voice low only for Hero, but Ophelia heard it. “I’ve never felt better,” Hero said, stretching his arms over his head. Laura’s power healed the broken rips and wounds on his abdomen. He could feel the phantom of the pain where his shoulder dislocated, earlier a boulder fell from a collapsing house shattering his bones. Laura undid the damage with her healing powers. Ophelia couldn’t prickle to hear their conversation longer. Dustin stood before them unmoving, watching them with a cold lifeless expression, a smirk touched the corners of his mouth. It was the most upsetting thing Ophelia had ever seen in her life. It reminded her of clowns – the ones you run from.Behind him, the wall he built stood tall and thick, separating them from Noah and the others. Noah stopped
