It has been a year since 18.6.2024…

The day Ophelia’s life had taken a turn forever. It was hard at first to keep on living, to be the only survivor it got to her harder than ever since all hope had vanished with the day she set E.VI.L on fire.

However, time proved to be stronger than any sensation that lingered after that accident. She soon began to overcome it all.

Though she never forgot.

But it didn’t hurt as much anymore. Having Noah and Luke by her side made it all easier since she focused on preserving what she had left rather than what she had lost. She was sure that would be what her clan wanted her to do.

She lived on carrying their memory with her every breath.

“Ophelia!”

She snapped out of her trance to return to reality. Luke hovered over her as she crouched down before her parent's graves.

It was summer now, the snow melted and the sky above was clear. The birds sang atop the trees behind the graves of the Crescent. Flowers sprouted beside her parent's graves in s

‘Run,’It was the only word that resonated in Ophelia’s mind. Barely 12 she ran through the dark cold woods. Her breath was a mess, the world was loud inside her ears despite the empty woods. All she could hear were the screams she left behind - they didn’t leave her ears. The agonizing yells from her pack were still in the back of her mind. How long has she been running? She wasn’t sure. The blood dripping from the wound on her arm was falling to the snow-covered dirt. Leaving a trail behind her every step as the air left her longs to fog her vision in the unbearable cold. She thought she knew the woods like the back of her hand, however, now she barely saw ahead of her. Ophelia couldn’t think straight anymore, the last bit of her energy was directed to keeping her on her feet and running. It was her survival instinct as a wolf that kept her alive. She stumbled to the ground and that’s when she felt the tears streaming down her cheeks, her platinum white hair falling to her face

Noah lost track of the time as he sat there best the bed. The figure of the little mysterious girl was carved in the back of his mind like a stone. She was lying still on her back this whole time. It was hard to believe that she was still alive. Noah even asked Nurse Sarah if the little girl was even breathing. The nurse saw the worry in his eyes, she ruffled his ink-black hair and reassured him that the little girl was okay. Nurse Sarah leaned into Noah’s height with a hand on his shoulder and pointed to the little girl. “Do you see the steady rhythm of the rise and fall of her chest?” the nurse asked, her voice calming in Noah’s years. “That means that she is okay,” she added and turned to look at him. “If the rhythm stops, come and get me, okay, little Lord?” Noah scoffed. “I’m not that ignorant,” he continued. “Will she wake up soon?” For a minute there Nurse Sarah had a look of doubt in her eyes as she spared a glance at the pale figure lying on the bed. Her heart hurt seein

Tick-tock, tick-tock. Noah found himself repeating the rhythm of the watch hanging atop the little girl’s head. He couldn’t bring himself to look straight into her violet eyes. He could already feel his cheeks heat from the embarrassment. The little girl avoided looking at him as well, but rather than embarrassment, she was flustered and confused. Where is this place? How did she get here? The pretty nurse has already told her but, her young mind found a hard time grasping the information all at once. She was one day at the Crescents and now she was on the other side of the continent.Ophelia could still see the smoke and ash blurring her vision. In the corner of her eyes, she could swear she saw her little brother, Luke, getting dragged away by the strangers with crests on their arms. The hallucination sent chills down her spine.“So,” She snapped out of her daze, part of her was thankful for that. She turned to look at the red-eyed boy, and she surprisingly felt at ease. She wan

Ophelia gladly ate the food served on her bed. She never realized she was this hungry until the smell of freshly baked bread teased her nostrils. The night before, she declined dinner saying her stomach was too upset to handle it. Nurse Sarah bought her a cup of sweetened warm milk instead, it helped calmed her down and before she knew it, she was in dreamland. The taste of the sweet jam and bread made her feel alive for the first time since that wretched night. The smell reminded her of home, the way her mom made breakfast when the first rays of the sun got into the kitchen. How Luke always whined that they were having the same breakfast again and he wants pancakes instead. The memory made her crack a smile, but along with it came a strong feeling of torment. It made her feel more lost than she already was. “A happy memory?” Ophelia snapped out of her dwelling and looked to her side, Noah. She forgot that he was there as her mind went astray. She found herself thinking of his qu

“This…” Sarah mumbled, breaking the silence. “This is the Crescent pack territory?” She already knew the answer. It was obvious, through the dirt and ash she could make out the platinum white hair of the Crescent wolves. However, she couldn’t help but ask. Because no matter how much she stared at the photos, it made it all the more impossible. “But that’s not possible!” Sarah added when no one answered. “The wolves of the Crescent are the strongest out there! How could they just be wiped out like that?!” Bernard had his elbows on the table while supporting his head on his knuckles. The same question was ravishing his brain. As an Alpha wolf, it hurt his dignity to admit it but there was no way he could deny it either. The wolves of the Crescent are the strongest of their species, their entire elimination was impossible - or at least that’s what they thought. “Who had such power to do this?” Valarie asked, turning to her husband. “I don’t know,” Bernard muttered. At the word

“What would you like to know?” Ophelia was surprised at how calm her voice was despite the lump she felt in her throat. Maybe it was because she could already see it coming. It was about time they got to know what happened to the Crescents. It wouldn’t remain hidden for long. Not from the Moonglade or the world. After all, the smoke, the fire, there was no way it would go unnoticed. The memories were coming back to her, and she flinched. “How did you get this far away from home?” Valarie said after a long moment of silence. Ophelia snapped out of her dwelling and turned to Valarie. It took her a moment to digest the question. What was she supposed to say? I ran here because I was too afraid to die with the rest of my family. I abandoned my little brother to save my skin? All the answers that came to her made it harder to bare with her own flesh. Nevertheless, they had the right to know. Ophelia could guess that they already knew all the answers, they sent someone to her

Ophelia flattered her eyes open to stare at the plain white ceiling. The breeze from the open window sent chills down her spine despite her blanket. She had no memory of falling asleep, let alone covering herself. ‘It must have been Sarah,’ she thought as she brought her hands from underneath the blanket to place them on top of her forehead. She glanced to the window side. She was startled. The curtains flattering by the breeze almost gave her a heart attack. She took a deep breath to calm her nerves. Something about the situation moved a memory inside of her. ‘If Luke was here he would have laughed at my frail heart,’ she thought, not realizing the grin that cracked on her lips. She held her gaze on the window, catching glimpses of the moon and night sky when the curtains parted. She started recalling the last conversation she had before falling asleep. She sighed, disappointed with herself. For a while, she thought she could speak the truth to Valarie and Bernard but…she coul

The ocean spread vastly around the yacht in all directions. The horizon line turned dark blue as they sailed away from Glaham. The sky weaved with the water in perfect harmony. There were little to no clouds in the sky. It had been raining cats and dogs the past few days. She appreciated the sun today. Ophelia took a seat on the roof of the yacht, it was all in white, the metal, the fabric, it all gave a sense of serenity with the sound of crashing waves against the boat’s belly. Luke on the other hand couldn’t decide if it was better on the roof or the deck, and in his pursuit, he climbed up and down over a dozen times. Finally, when they were halfway through their journey, he decided to settle next to his sister, his pale features were paler as he sat with a loud thud.“All is good?” Ophelia asked raising an eyebrow, offering her pack of chips that she saved from her brother’s wrath. Luke waved her off and gagged. “I think I’m getting sick.”“I told you not to eat too much before

Later after Ophelia left Noah, she headed to her room to change into something more comfortable for the long way ahead. It would take them almost half a day to reach the organization according to Luke’s statements. They will take a ship from the shores of Encford. Ophelia recalled Margret, Enzo’s daughter. News of the Alpha’s death has probably reached them by now. This whole trip was to fulfill her promise to Enzo, to get the medicine needed for his daughter’s survival. Alpha Laura promised to do her best to study the medicine and replicate it if possible. Aside from the promise, she wanted to see what it was like for Luke there, and the other Crescents. During Luke’s interrogation, he mentioned that some Crescents were still held captive by the organization. Ophelia held back from having any hope at all. It has been a long time since their capture, there was no knowing what changed in them during these years. She was able to bring back her brother, deep down she wanted to save

The last gift…As Noah told her earlier, he was present for his father’s funeral. Ophelia never got the chance to attend funerals except for her clan's.But she was sure they were meant to be more crowded than this. It was her, Noah, and his parents, Merrick, Oswald, and Hero. No one else came. No one wanted to be here. The Council only approved this burial as a thank you to Noah for being a hero. Ophelia didn’t judge them, she would be lying if she said she felt sorry for Dustin. She was here because of what it meant to Noah. He wanted to bury a part of him with Dustin. Lock it all underneath the wooden lid of the coffin, and deep into the ground. Perhaps then, it would make his heart feel lighter. It was raining lightly now in the woods, the sky was paid actor as it shed tears over all those they had lost, the water droplets puttered against the leaves above their heads in a steady rhythm. Noah chose to bury his father on the flat land next to the lake. He hated this lake, alway

Rain…The rain continued for the next two days. The sun shined behind the dense clouds, its rays escaping through the gaps to illuminate the destruction of Glaham. The horizon was a thin line of smug and debris. The rain puttered on the leaves of what remained of nature and the trees. The once bright and soothing woods ringing the mansion now resembled a ghost city. Ophelia stood at her window, the rain drizzling down her window heavily. Her heart ached at the state of Moonglade, it reminded her of the time she returned to the Crescents after the arson. The destroyed homes, the blood-soaked streets, and the bone-chilling cold. Her eyes refocused on her reflection in the window. She looked tired. Her platinum white hair was tied up behind her head, her eyes were red-rimmed with lack of sleep, and dark circles reached her cheeks. She was dressed in a black button-up shirt and a black skirt. All the black brought attention to her tired and wary pale face. Whenever she closed her eyes to

Ophelia…The world went serene. Time stopped as if someone pushed the pause button. Warm light shyly intervened from the heavens. There were no shadows, or demons threatening the fated mates. Noah felt at ease as if someone was hugging his heart from within. The throbbing in his chest was gone the moment he saw Ophelia crouching in front of him, her long platinum hair falling like a curtain around her face.Noah got to his feet, lighter, his footsteps echoing in the air as he knelt to her side, gently touching her shoulders. Ophelia trembled softly under his touch, she slowly held her head up, her eyes shyly popping out between her messed-up hair. Her violet eyes were rimmed red, she had been crying. Noah couldn’t help the smile that touched his mouth. He rarely sees tears in Ophelia's eyes; when he does, he can’t help the empathy crawling into his heart. “Come forth! Nymeria!”The eruption started from inside Ophelia. She felt it in her chest as it rattled against her rips, something was breaking free of constraints. Nymeria. She blazed in violet and light as if Ophelia was the center of a torture and her fire burned bright around her. It sent a shock wave in a ring around her, bringing the battle’s attention to her. She felt the ecstasy wash over her. In her hand, her power took form. It materialized from thin air into the most beautiful sword Ophelia lay her eyes on. The blade dazzled as it caught the light, it seared in the smug air, as if a star fell from the star right into her hands. The metallic hilt wrapped around her hand and wrist gracefully like satin. The sword was light in her hand, she felt it pulsating in her palm as it came alive. “We do this together!” Ophelia stood center, Merrick and Hero on her right and Oswald on her left, she felt their auras pulsate in the air around them.“Are you sure you are well enough to fight?” Merrick muttered, his voice low only for Hero, but Ophelia heard it. “I’ve never felt better,” Hero said, stretching his arms over his head. Laura’s power healed the broken rips and wounds on his abdomen. He could feel the phantom of the pain where his shoulder dislocated, earlier a boulder fell from a collapsing house shattering his bones. Laura undid the damage with her healing powers. Ophelia couldn’t prickle to hear their conversation longer. Dustin stood before them unmoving, watching them with a cold lifeless expression, a smirk touched the corners of his mouth.
