“Is E.V.I.L’s President’s family.”
Jone’s words were the last to conclude the council meeting. The Alphas of Glahams weren’t pleased, to say the least. A few words from a mundane made their efforts for the past six years go to waste. Not only that but, his statement was the proof they needed to label E.V.I.L as the culprit for the arson.
All it took was one human to figure out what they couldn’t find all these years, and this fact didn’t seem to be settling as well as it should have. But perhaps their shame held them back from denying or protesting with Jone. Jone did them a favor by unveiling the hidden truth. They hated to be proved lacking in this way.
But Ophelia wasn’t worrying about their face before Jone. All she could think of were
The hot bath worked like magic to erase not only the dirt but also the worries of the day. Sarah filled in the bathtub for Ophelia the moment she got back. The water temperature was a little higher than what she usually preferred but it didn’t bother her. The sting of the hot water on her bare skin was pain she enjoyed, it took her mind off of things she rather not think about again. But, every now and then she saw images of her brother, the way he looked at her this morning. The feeling that he was going to jump at her at any given moment kept her on edge even now. She wondered how he was doing now and what he did after she left. Did he think about what she said to him? She wondered. She wasn’t bluffing about the truth serum, she hoped he believed her. If he wasn’t going to talk, the council would make him talk. They were already doing him a favor by waiting till now. Bernard was right about his words but, to what lengths? How much is Ophelia’s influence on her brother after all
The way to Noah’s room felt longer than it usually took. She halted by the door wondering if Noah was already up and around behind this door. She placed her hand over her chest to calm her beating heart. “Oh, Lady Claudia,” Ryan said, bringing Ophelia back to the present. She turned to look at the other end of the hall. The Omega, Claudia was as perfect as ever. The moment she saw Claudia she was flooded with the sweet smell of pheromones. She took a quick glance at Ryan and if he was feeling something, he was doing a good job at hiding it. “Good evening,” she said, bowing deeper than usual to Ophelia. Perhaps it’s because of Ophelia’s new title now, Princess of the Crescents. She couldn’t help but notice the way Claudia quickly scanned her at first glance. Ophelia was now a little…different from what Claudia was used to. Now that she thought of it, this was the first time she had run into Claudia since the night of the attack. She even forgot she was here and that she is suppo
Ophelia now sat back on the chair hoping she could dig a hole in the ground and bury herself alive. It took her a while to realize the position that they were in and the amount of crying she did. Whenever her eyes catch a glimpse of the stain she left on Noah’s shoulder she is eaten up with shame. Noah on the other hand seemed to be enjoying the scene before him. He took his time to study her closely. The last time they met she was Ella, with brown hair and hazel eyes. But now she was Ophelia, with silver hair and lilac eyes. The Ophelia from a few months of their childhood. How beautiful she looked in his eyes. Despite it being the first time for him to see her all grown up, it was as familiar as the back of his hands. The person he was with for the past six years vanished, he was no longer with Ella the Alpha’s ward. He was with Princess Ophelia of the Crescents. All these years he knew that when Ophelia agreed to her new alias, she agreed to seal away a piece of herself with
The moon was high in the sky now. Noah urged Ophelia to open the window and allow a bit of fresh air. Now that he has woken up he was all stuffed up within his room. The smell of the disinfectants and medicine made his room a hospital, and Noah hated hospitals. Ophelia was still next to him enjoying the warmth they offered each other. They enjoyed the scenery from the window on their right, watching the clouds shading the moon as it crossed over. It was a cloudy night, with barely any stars visible in the sky. The sounds of the guard's footsteps echoed through the mansions as they patrolled the parameters. For a bit, it was peaceful. Ophelia wished this peace to be permanent, but it was all wishful thinking. Deep down she could feel her wolf on edge, waiting for danger like a beast in the forest. However, it was hard to give it any serious thought while being this comfortable in Noah’s warmth. Noah’s heartbeat against her skin was a tranquilizer to her nerves, nothing else mattered
For the first time in a week, Ophelia woke up without having to drag herself off the bed. This wouldn’t have gone unnoticed by Sarah as she helped her get ready for the day. Throughout the process, Ophelia didn’t argue about her outfit or her hair. She sat through it silently with a faint smile on her lips, Sarah guessed the reason and chuckled to herself.“You seem to be in a good mood today,” Sarah said, braiding small sections of Ophelia’s hair. “And I think I know why.”“Oh, really,” Ophelia said, acting ignorant. “I may be looking forward to today.”“I’ve heard that the Young Lord is finally awake,” Sarah said, stealing glances at Ophelia through the mirror.“Howeve
Someone blew the whistle. That person could be staying here, in this mansion right under their noses. But there is no way to tell. “I hope you understand what you are implying here, Garelt,” Bernard said, bringing his brows in a frown. “You’ve said the same thing last time as well and I told you to be careful what you say.” “I know, My Lord,” Garelt muttered. “This is a mere speculation. However, it was the only answer I get whenever I try to think of it.” “Someone with the power to let all of these mortals in,” Valarie said, joining in the conversation for the first time. “I hate to say it but it might be someone powerful. A nobelmen maybe?” “Nothing is certain,” Bernard replied with a sigh. He shifted his attention to Ophelia. “I hate to say it, but your brother is the only one who can answer this, Ophelia.” She couldn’t hold back her shudder this time. She could see this coming, her brother was right here in this mansion. Probably the only one who knows the truth, the one wi
Noah might have made light of Ophelia’s brother, but he could feel the weight of it on his shoulder as he got closer to the door. He always thought that if they were to ever find her brother, he would treat him as his kin. Now he wasn’t so sure. The only encounter he had with Luke was in battle, and that left quite the first impression on each of them. Who would’ve thought that the hooded soldier was the long-lost Prince of the Crescents? Everything was getting more and more dramatic like a plot to a tragic novel. They arrived at the door to the infirmary, flanked by two knights. They bowed when Noah and Ophelia arrived. One of them initiated to open the door, but Ophelia held a hand to intercept him. “Wait,” she muttered, her eyes fixed on the door as if she saw something the rest of them couldn’t. The knight doubtfully gave her a look before he returned to his position. “Is something wrong?” Noah asked, leaning forward to take a better look at her. “The last time we talked,
It was only at that moment that Ophelia discerned the shadow that lingered in Noah's crimson glare.Luke with his free hand grabbed Noah by the collar, in his mind he had already killed Noah a thousand times. The veins in his hand were ready to burst with tension and anger. Noah pressed down with his knee when he felt him fight back. Luke winced in pain, cold sweat dripping down his temple.“Perhaps you have come to forget the position you are in,” Noah hissed through the tightened jaw, pressing the palm of his hand on Luke’s neck. “Here is a kind reminder that you are a prisoner. If it hadn’t been for your sister's empathy you would be dead by now. She has been more than kind to allow you to rattle that mouth of yours. However, if you dare disrespect her again–”&ldqu
