Jessica Thornton is an orphan slave to the Graceland Pack. Confined to the barns to sleep with the animals, she loses all hope that someone will come and rescue her, but fate has a plan for her because the alpha's son, Cory identifies her as his mate. In her intoxicated state, she admits to the entire pack that Cory is her mate and that she’s carrying his pup. Cory's frustration leads him to show his true colours and he rejects Jessica, who is later forcefully thrown out and exiled from the pack. Alone and weak, Jessica gives up on life, begging the Moon Goddess for a quick death. ******* Kanyon Coldblood is the king of all Lycan kings. He goes to investigate and realizes that it's a young girl. Even with her foul stench, his beast finds it impossible to resist the enchanting fragrance that only they notice. View MoreJessica huddled on the floor, which had been her bed since she was thirteen, trembling from the cold. The heavy winds outside kept blowing the cardboard cut out from the oval window, letting all the frostiness inside and the only things poor Jessica had to cover with were some empty potato sacks which weren't doing a great job of keeping the winter breeze off.
Sleeping on the hard, cold concrete floor only worsened her health, especially with all the dust and chemicals around. She had developed a severe case of pneumonia. If she were a regular girl, she would have died months ago. The strong scent of charcoal and kerosene filled the air, irritating her lungs and making her cough repeatedly as she twisted beneath her makeshift sheets. Having just recovered from yet another coughing episode, her body calmed down but was soon jolted awake when someone kicked her in the stomach. Her amber eyes snapped open to reveal Luna Magda looming over her with a curling iron in one hand and a cane in the other. Jessica coughed to let air back in her lungs, but another kick forced the oxygen back out. The Luna didn't give her a chance to recover as she laid another hard kick to Jessica's gut. "You lazy bag of fleas!" Luna Magda snarled as she struck Jessica with the cane. The omega raised her hands defensively to shield her face from the weapon. The Luna's eyes glared at Jessica with hatred and disgust. "I thought I told you I needed your help to get ready for the Luna's Ball. It's way past 8, and you're still sleeping," she filled her mouth with saliva and spat in Jessica's face. "Useless wolf." Magda's eyes were as cold as ice and her face began to collect wrinkles showing her old age of sixty. She hated being old and she hated any she-wolf that was younger than her. "I—I'm sorry Luna. I overslept," Jessica apologized, struggling to get up but only to be struck by the Luna once more with the stick, sending her body back on the floor. Jessica cursed herself in her head. She should have known better. The summer was over and with autumn came the long nights and short days. During summer, the sun would rise high in the sky by 5 am, and it would be easy for her to wake early. The sunlight would loom in and warm her face and melt the sleep from her body, but now the sun only began to show itself a few minutes after 8, so without a phone or an alarm clock, Jessica relied on her body to wake her up when it was hungry or needed to relieve itself. She should have followed her instincts and not slept at all last night, knowing the risk of sleeping in. "I don't want your apologies. I want your obedience and gratitude," the Luna hissed. "I took you in when that worthless father of yours got himself killed, along with your whore of a mother. And I've been good to you. Haven't I been good to you, Jessica?" The Luna asked, hissing and flashing her dark eyes, showing her dominance. Jessica clenched her fists, scraping up dirt in her fingernails as her hands folded over the floor. She hated the Luna for always speaking ill of her parents. It wasn't their fault hunters killed them. They were just at the wrong place at the wrong time. "Answer me, you filthy mutt!" Luna Magda raised her hand with the stick and smacked it over Jessica's face. It hurt so much, the pain made the omega squeal. A satisfied smile appeared on the Luna's mouth when she saw the welt and blood on the young girl's face. "It doesn't matter whether you answer me or not. The Moon Goddess knows how good I've been to you, so that's why she blessed my three wonderful children with their wolves from an early age. You on the other hand, are sixteen and wolfless because the great Moon Goddess is punishing you for your ungratefulness and your constant disobedience," Luna Magda cackled. "Here," she shoved the curling iron in Jessica's hands. "Take the back entrance and meet me in my chambers in five minutes, and don't be late or else I'll whip you until my hands are tired." "Luna –" Jessica protested, but the Luna cut her off with a slap to the face. "I will not tolerate your mouth today. See you in five," the Luna said as she ran off in wolf speed. The walk from the barn to the back entrance alone would take Jessica five minutes. But surely if she ran and never stops, then to make it to the Luna's chambers would be at least ten minutes. "I'll never make it in time," she mumbled. Not wanting to waste precious time, the little omega girl slipped her feet into her old, tattered leather shoes and ran like the wind.To my wonderful readers, We have now come to the end of this book. EIGHTEEN YEARS LATERThe years had been kind to King Kanyon and Queen Jessica. Time may have seasoned their faces and softened their edges, but their passion for each other and their chaotic brood of children had only grown stronger. Ruling Lycania was their duty, but parenting... well, that was their true adventure. Most days, they handled it like pros, but today was not one of those days.Kanyon was just about to slip himself inside Jessica. Her legs were wrapped around his hips beneath the silky sheets.. when—BAM!The bedroom door flew open like it had been drop-kicked off its hinges."Mom!" Eleanor, their oldest daughter, screeched. "You were supposed to be in my chambers at six to style my hair! Did you forget?""Mom!" Melissa charged in right behind her, holding up a dress. "I ordered white with sequins, and this is cream with ruffles! Are ruffles even still a thing?"Under the covers, Kanyon groaned. "Do you two ever knock?" he grunted, sliding off Jessica and yanking the blan
THE NEXT MORNINGThe sun hadn't even warmed the stone courtyard yet, but the air was thick with the kind of grief only distance could birth.Jessica stood at Kanyon's side as they prepared to say goodbye yet again. The past few weeks had been filled with farewells, but this one was harder. This one felt like a final goodbye."I can't believe we're not coming this time," Falcon pouted, adjusting the glittering cuffs on his velvet coat. "This is a historical mission, and I am being left behind.""My father's coming to see me fight in the upcoming tournament," Theo said, his hand casually resting on Falcon's waist. "Besides, we have a kingdom to take over.""Your father is stepping down as king?" Kanyon arched a brow in surprise."Yes, he will be soon," Theo nodded. "He wants me and my mate to take over when the threat of the ferals is gone."Falcon gasped dramatically. "Me? A queen? Of an entire region? Oh, babe, I was born to wear crowns and sparkles." He turned and posed like royalty,
ONE MONTH LATERThe cursed full moon was now a memory, and for the first time in what felt like forever, the skies above Lycania were soft and serene. The lunar glow had returned to its natural silver grace, and with it, peace had settled like dew on the kingdom's soul. The courtyard was bathed in golden morning light, a gentle breeze carrying the scent of blooming frost lilies from the royal gardens. It was a perfect day for goodbyes, if such a thing could ever exist.Alpha Daniel and Luna Ariel stood at the grand entrance of the castle. Baby Dante was curled peacefully in his mother's arms, his little chest rising and falling in quiet rhythm, unaware of the momentous farewell unfolding around him."Your Majesties," Daniel said, his voice steady but touched with emotion as he bowed to Jessica and Kanyon. "Thank you... for everything. I'm forever in your debt."Kanyon reached out and shook his hand firmly, clasping his shoulder afterward like a brother. "As soon as the triplets start
The Lycan people slept throughout the rest of the day, tired from the adventurous night they had.The night came again. It was a crescent moon, but oh how brightly it shone. The castle was quiet and peaceful. Jessica stood on the balcony wrapped in a silk robe, the wind tugging at her hair. Below, the castle grounds were tranquil. There were no longer any dead Lycans, nor was there any blood and gore.Jessica could sense that life was returning to normal.Kanyon came up behind her and slid his arms around her waist, pulling her against his chest."You changed the course of fate," he whispered in her ear."I don't know about that," Jessica replied. "All I did was just ask the Moon Goddess for my forgiveness."He chuckled softly. "You didn't just ask. You made her give it to you."She turned in his arms and looked up into his eyes. "I was terrified.""But you still went.""That's what love makes you do," she murmured. "Stupid and impossible things."She leaned in and kissed him. She se
While everyone else was at breakfast, Jessica was walking the grounds, taking in the sight of the horror the night before had brought. She was barefoot, and her white gown clung to her skin, damp from her fresh shower and the morning dew. Her arms bore scratches, her knuckles still raw from clawing at fate itself the night before. But none of that mattered now.She noticed a brown-haired she-lycan stooped over a ripped-up body. Jessica swallowed hard. She remembered his scent and how sweet his blood tasted. He was one of the Lycans who had tried to get inside the castle, and she had ripped into him like he was paper."Moses!" the woman cried. "Please, you can't leave me and our baby!" she sobbed.Bile rose in Jessica's throat. She turned on her feet and ran, but was stopped when she bumped into hard muscles."Jessica!" Kanyon said."I did this!" she said. "I killed our own.""You had no choice, Jessica," Kanyon held her close and kissed her head. "Come on, our babies need their mother
