6: THE FULL MOON

Magda's face went pale. “Wh-who told you?” She gulped, terrified that her husband was going to kill her now. She thought she had everyone involved taken care of. No one was supposed to know that it was her and not hunters who killed Jessica's parents.

"No one had to tell me. I knew the moment I heard Steven and Lisa were murdered,” Conroy admitted. “It took everything in me not to skin you alive back then.”

Hearing her parents' names made Jessica lift her head as she tuned into the discussion between the alpha and Luna.

“I saw how you looked at her, Conroy. She was beautiful and young,” Magda scoffed. “When I found out she was your true mate, I despised her.”

“But I rejected her to be with you,” Conroy explained. “She found a second chance mate in that farmer.”

Jessica was there in shock. She couldn't believe what she was hearing.

“Oh please, you only married me for my father’s pack. I knew this back then, but I thought after being with me, you would at least grow to like me, but you never did,” Magda sobbed. “I tried everything, but still all you wanted was Lisa. I could smell it on you every time you were near her. Just like how I can always smell how much you want her daughter, Jessica," Luna Magda hissed, turning her attention back to Jessica. It was at that moment the Luna smelled something she didn't notice before. “Why does she smell like our son?”

“Because he fucked her. I guess he has the same tastes as his father,” Conroy laughed.

“You think this is funny?” The Luna snarled. “I think we should banish her and let her fend for herself as a rogue.”

The Luna knew an omega wouldn't last one night alone as a rogue, especially one that was as beautiful as Jessica. The male rogues would have their way with her until her body went limp, and the female rogues would kill her on the spot just so their mates didn't get sidetracked by her looks.

“No, Magda. I can't do that,” Conroy snapped.

“Why?” Magda was irritated. She wanted to know what reason her husband had for keeping this mange around.

“Because, I'll be taking her as a second wife,” he told her without a hint of sympathy in his voice.

Those words seemed to have punched Magda in the face. She shook her head from side to side with tears pouring down her face. She focused on Jessica. “I hate you and that slut you called mother. Even after I had your parents murdered, they're still haunting my life because they left behind you. I should have had you executed, too.”

She felt guilty after she murdered the poor girl's parents, so that's why she took the child under her wings, but the moment Jessica hit puberty, the Luna felt regret.

“You killed my parents?” Jessica asked, with snot and tears gushing down her face. She wanted to slug the Luna.

“Yes, I did,” the Luna said proudly. “And don't think you can go and run your mouth to the pack. No one will believe you. You're an omega who fucked my son and is also going to marry my husband. People will say that it's just crazy ramblings of the other woman,” the Luna stated. She sneered at the alpha before she left the office.

Conroy offered his hand to help Jessica stand up. “Don't touch me,” she let out. “You knew your Luna killed my parents, and you did nothing. What kind of alpha are you?”

“One who realized he was an outsider and needed to gain his new pack's trust and respect,” he hissed. “Killing their beloved Luna, the daughter of their previous alpha, wouldn't have been a smart move.”

“Was my mother really your mate?” Jessica just couldn’t believe it.

“Yes, she was. It wasn't until I rejected her and I learnt she found a second chance mate that I regretted how I treated her. I should have kept her as a second wife. Perhaps she would still be alive,” he said. “But don't worry Jessica, I will make sure Magda will not hurt you like she did your mother,” he promised. “Two months from now, we will celebrate our mating ceremony under the full moon.”
