In a state of turmoil, Jessica fled from the alpha's office. She didn't care if she looked a mess, with blood staining her face. She needed to find Cory and tell him he had to admit to his parents that she was his mate and that he wished to be with her.
Before she made it to the corridor that would take her to her mate's room, the two younger girls with red hair and brown eyes intercepted her. One caught her by her hand and the other grabbed her by the hair. "Look, sister. It's the slave girl," Margarita laughed. Her red hair was curly like that Disney princess, Merida. Her brown eyes were dark with specks of green in them. "I see that, sis. What is the little omega doing running around our house like this? She knows better than to be seen in this part of the building," Margret pulled harder on Jessica's hair, causing her to wince. "Oh, she's got a busted lip, and a bloodied nose," she noted as she bent back Jessica's head so she could look on her face. Margret's red hair was straightened and down past her waist. Her eyes were the same colour as her sister's. "I wonder who made her this pretty?" Margarita grinned, sinking her nails into her arm. "Isn't she pretty with all this blood dripping from her face?" "She's really pretty," Margret agreed, pulling on her hair harder. Jessica's scalp burned, and she couldn't stop the tears from leaking out her eyes and down her face, washing some of the dried blood off it. "Please, just please leave me be," the poor omega begged. Her hands went up to try to pry Margret's hands from her hair. "Pleaseee, just please leave me be," Margarita mocked her. The twins erupted in laughter. "Pathetic. You're seventeen and still haven't gotten your wolf," she released Jessica's wrist, which now had a purple bruise on it. "It's pitiful that she thinks her feeble hands can remove my hands from her hair," Margret shrieked. "Maybe she's not a werewolf. Perhaps her mother fucked a human, and she got her weakness from her real dad." "You know sister, you could be right," Margarita giggled. "Mother said her omega mother was a whore." "You leave my mother's name alone. She was a good woman and so was my father," Jessica hissed. Margarita clutched Jessica by the throat and squeezed it. "Are you talking back to us? Though we may be younger, we are the alpha's daughters and therefore your superiors. You will respect us." "Yeah omega. Know your place," Margret snarled. Their wolves were on the surface. "You two are evil," Jessica choked out. Margarita's fingers were too tight around her neck. "A-all of you are evil," she coughed. "Only Cory is worthy." "What did you say, bitch?" Margarita slammed her head in the wall, breaking Jessica's nose. Margret's grip on her hair loosened and some of Jessica's brown locks came out in her hands. "You'll watch how you talk to us, you mutt." "Sis, do you smell that?" Margret asked. They detected the smell of the blood that was seeping from underneath her. They knew her monthly cycle came on the 10th of the month, and now it was the 25th. "She smells like sex." "Did the little virgin finally get her cherry popped?" Margarita asked. "I bet she let the horses and the pigs from the stables fuck her," Margret kicked Jessica, who was now sitting on the floor. "Good one," Margarita high-fived her sister. Jessica held her aching arm and folded her lips. She hated them. "Wait. I know that scent. She smells like Cory," Margret gasped. "You little slut. You think you can fuck your way to the top? Understand that Cory will never be with you. He's promised to another," Margarita gave her another kick. "Yes and Chrissy is a worthy future Luna. I think she and Cory make a handsome couple," Margret laughed. "You're lying," Jessica snapped. "Cory loves me," Jessica hissed as her hand circled her tummy. She felt the bruises forming, plus she could tell she now had a cracked rib. "Don't take our word for it. His engagement will be announced at the ball," Margarita said. "Come on, sis. Let's prepare for the ball. Alphas and other elite wolves from across the land will visit to check if we are their potential mates," Margret declared. The evil twins decided to let Jessica go. "You need to leave this house before our mother sees you," Margarita added. "Yes, omega!" Margret spat. "Go back to the barn where you belong." The twins intertwined arms as they walked away, leaving Jessica beaten and in pain on the floor."Careful! Careful!" Nigel Senior was hovering over Opal as she made the final touches to her potion."Would you back off, old man?" Opal scoffed. "You're getting on my nerves."Nigel Senior grabbed his mate gently by the waist, his voice softening. "I'm just happy you're alive and well. I don't know what I'd do without you."Cameron cleared his throat. "Excuse me," he said, stepping forward. The old couple quickly pulled apart, slightly sheepish."What is it, Cameron?" Opal asked, her tone neutral but eyes curious."I'm just wondering if the potion is done yet. We wanted to beat the darkness and get back to the Whistling Cave before sundown.""I see. I just need to do one more thing," she replied. As if on cue, DJ walked in at that very moment just in time to see Opal spit directly into the mixture. There was a soft poof, and the potion transformed from green to a glowing blue, emitting a faint shimmer."My father has to drink that?" DJ asked, his eyebrows lifting in disbelief."If he
"My prince," Theodore dropped to his knees, his voice trembling with awe. "It's an honor to meet you. I can't believe I met your father, and now... I'm meeting you."Lazarus blinked, clearly surprised. "You met my father?""Yes," Theo nodded quickly. "We stopped at the Vanderwolf mansion for the Alpha's help in finding Mystic Mountain, and he showed up. He was looking for you. He said you took something that belonged to your stepmother."Lazarus growled low in his throat, a sharp sound that sent shivers down everyone's spine. "So he knows I took the Book of the Gods... Damn him. Did he say anything else?""Not really," Theodore answered. "Only that you left with werewolves and a human.""So that means the Alpha knows we're traveling with a bloodsucker," said a broad-shouldered young man from the far corner of the room. His voice was gruff, but there was a spark of mischief in his eyes. "I'm Valko, the son of the Beta from the Howling Cliffs pack. This here is my sister, Velma, and our
After hours of hiking through the magical forest, the group finally reached the top of Mystic Mountain, and they were worn out. Their bodies ached, their stomachs growled, and even the adrenaline that had fueled their journey so far was starting to wear thin. The once-glowing candy skies had darkened into deep violet. The enchanted beauty around them, while still mesmerizing, was now cloaked in shadow.Every step felt heavier."Remind me again why we didn't pack snacks," Falcon groaned, dragging his feet. "I'm starving.""Didn't you eat enough chocolate dirt and candy clouds?" Theo snapped."I don't think all that forest junk food counts," Falcon muttered."Look," Cameron said suddenly, lifting his arm and pointing ahead. "There's a cabin up ahead.""That must be Opal's place," DJ said, relief evident in his voice. “It’s older than I expected.” "Who cares?" Falcon sighed dramatically. "I just wanna kick these boots off. I really need a foot rub."The group moved forward, but their pa
"So... how did she taste?" Cameron asked, breaking the silence with a sly grin.DJ shot him a look. "Please. Don't start.""Come on," Cam smirked, nudging his shoulder. "We're all friends here."DJ groaned. "Honestly? Salty," he muttered, shaking his head.Falcon burst out laughing. "She tasted exactly how she acts. Salty.”Even Theodore cracked a grin, his normally serious expression softening. Their laughter echoed off the glistening cave walls as they trekked forward, still damp from their dive through the mermaid's secret entrance.Mishell's kiss had unlocked a secret door under the cave that pulled them into the depths when they plunged in. They swam for barely a minute before they emerged inside what felt like the belly of the world. The cave was warm, thick with a soft golden mist that clung to their skin like silk.Everything was eerily silent. No echoes. No dripping water. Just... warmth."Something smells sweet," Theo said suddenly, his vampire senses flaring.DJ sniffed the
They woke just before sunrise, the horizon still wearing a blanket of fog. With the wind nipping at their faces and clouds looming above like a warning, Cameron, DJ, Falcon, and Theodore took off at full speed, tearing across the rugged terrain toward their next destination... The Whistling Cave. The world around them was eerie and quiet, except for the occasional distant crackle of thunder. The air tasted like sea salt and static. There was definitely a storm coming. After racing for nearly an hour, they skidded to a halt just shy of a steep cliff. The sound hit them first, an echo so deafening, it vibrated their skulls. They clutched at their ears as the unnatural screeching reverberated from below."The cave is whistling alright," Cameron said, gulping hard as his eyes watered from the noise.Theo crept to the cliff's edge, his vampiric senses zeroing in on a strange vibration. He motioned for the others. Below, nestled into the jagged cliffs like the gaping mouth of a sea monster,
The vampire king had barely vanished into the mist when Cameron and the others prepared to set out. The rising tension left a crackling charge in the air, like lightning just waiting for a place to strike."We have to go now, Alpha. Thanks for everything, and I hope you find your son soon," Cameron said sincerely."Thank you," Nolan replied with a brief nod, his gray eyes still trailing after the space where Dracula had stood."We'll keep an eye out," DJ added. "Maybe we'll run into them on the way."They exchanged brief farewells, and without another word, the four left the Vanderwolf estate behind. The world beyond the pack mansion grew dense and alive, the trees towering like ancient sentinels. Their path twisted deeper into Wolffang Woods, guided only by the map Nolan had given them earlier. The forest thickened quickly, the sunlight dimming behind thick canopies of pine and maple.Falcon groaned as he stumbled over a root. "I can't believe I had to leave my suitcase of goodies be
