Chapter 10

I threw all my important documents and belongings into my suitcase. When I came back out, they were still standing there. Seeing me, their attitudes softened, as if they had reached some kind of unspoken agreement.

But it didn’t matter anymore.

I was ready to leave and walk right past them.

But William grabbed my suitcase, and my mom blocked my way.

She started her usual routine, tears streaming down her face, begging me to stay and apologizing over and over.

I wasn’t buying it this time.

In the end, she snapped. She tore open my suitcase, smashed my phone and laptop, and then took a pair of scissors and cut up my bank cards and ID.

At that moment, I felt my heart turn completely cold.

She was willing to push me this far, all for that man.

She locked me in my room afterward.

William just stood there the entire time, watching her desperate performance with cold indifference.

I felt sorry for her.
