EMMA

I whimper at the loss until I feel the bed move. I am then once again surrounded by his scent. Again I tilt my head, giving him more access to my neck, but again he doesn’t take the invitation. I shiver as his fingers touch my chin, spreading more tingles through me. I can’t stop the tears that shimmer in my closed eyes. I then lose my breath completely when his lips touch mine and the tingles explode.

Then, just as he was there, he was gone again. For just those few moments, I felt like I was complete again. Now everything hurts and I am empty and alone once more. I drift in and out of the darkness; the pain comes and goes when all of a sudden I take a sharp breath in and sit up. I look around and see that I am in my bed, in my room, in my chambers.

There is no one with me, and I place my hand over my chest and give it a gentle rub. I get out of bed and let the tears fall down my cheeks as the pain there increases. I feel so empty. I wa
