EMMA
Once I have gotten my head cleared just a little and my eyes have adjusted properly to the brightness, I look around. I don’t know where I am or in what direction I need to go to head back to the castle, but for now, I just need to get as far away from this stranger as I can. So I move slowly, stepping closer to the edge once more. I swallow as I look down. Now if I had Odette, this wouldn’t be as scary as it is.
However, even with her, I wouldn’t have been able to make this jump without seriously hurting myself and that would just put me back in the stranger's hands. I think over what he said and I know I should have listened to him about the danger that he himself posed to me but being with him, just being in his presence made me feel stronger, made me feel better, and made me feel less alone.

EMMAI turn from the window at the sound of the door unlocking and two sets of heavy footsteps entering the chambers. EMMA He then pulls on the chain around my neck and repeats,“What is this?”“I..I...I don’t know…”“Where did you get it?”“The ruin. I found it on that altar thing…”As he lowers the chain containing the amulet back to my chest, he then slides his fingers along that chain, skimming my skin, and making shivers run through me. He follows the chain to the base of my throat and then skims his hands along my collarbone before sliding it up my arm.Once he reaches my wrist, he then takes the chain connected to the cuff there and then slides his hand down that chain, pulling it up until he gets to the end. He then lifts his hand, still holding the chain to replace his other hand holding my wrists.He then changes his hold and does the same with the other hand, following the chain connected to the cuff on my wrist until the end is in his other hand.
