I grumpily settled into the driver’s seat, feeling the weight of exhaustion pressing down on me. It was far too early for anyone to be awake, let alone for me, especially after the long night I’d just endured.

I had spent the entire evening poring over a mountain of documents I had stolen from Giovanni’s office and study room, each page more incriminating than the last.

The thrill of sneaking into his office and getting away with it had kept me awake, but now, as the morning sun glared through the windshield, I was paying the price. My head throbbed, and every bone in my body ached with fatigue.
