“You’re what?!” Shie’s voice exploded, echoing through the room as she bolted upright from the bed, her eyes wide with shock and concern.

The sudden outburst made my heart skip a beat, and I quickly moved toward her, my hands ready to cover her mouth if she made another sound that could give us away.

“Shie, please,” I hissed, my voice trembling with fear and urgency. “Don't you dare say another word! They’re just in the living room!” My eyes pleaded with her, trying to convey the seriousness of the situation.
