The satisfaction from watching her smile disappear was next to none. She stared at me in complete silence, shocked but not pleasantly surprised.

The air in the bedroom was musty and hot. Even with the AC on, the sweat we had generated from our bodily movements fought back the fresh, cold breeze. Beads of sweat trailed down our sticky skin as our chests rose and fell rhythmically. “God Raya," David breathed, his gaping mouth begging for more air. "Everytime I think I've gotten used to you, you go right around and show me something new,” he paused to chuckle breathlessly. “You give me more reasons to never let you out of my sight." Rain drove me home after everything was settled at the hospital. He made sure he left a picture of his mother at the security office so she could be easily spotted if she came around the premises.
