Forty-sixth Chapter

The air in the bedroom was musty and hot. Even with the AC on, the sweat we had generated from our bodily movements fought back the fresh, cold breeze. Beads of sweat trailed down our sticky skin as our chests rose and fell rhythmically.

“God Raya," David breathed, his gaping mouth begging for more air. "Everytime I think I've gotten used to you, you go right around and show me something new,” he paused to chuckle breathlessly. “You give me more reasons to never let you out of my sight."

He pulled me closer to his chest as if I was going to bolt like my life depended on it. I latched on to him, my finger tracing the curly hairs on his chest. I inhaled the strong scent of sweat mixed with cologne that smelled out of him. It filled every space in my nostrils, crawling into my brain in a very intoxicating manner.

After a long silence where we both recovered our breaths, I convinced myself that it was time to talk about my encounter earlier in the day.
